KENNEDY SQUAD PROMISE

KRISTOFFER AJER is preparing for a summer on the transfer rumour merry-go-round.

The Norwegian international defender has been linked with former Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City where the intriguing possibility of a swap-plus-cash deal for ex-Hoops loan star Filip Benkovic has been mooted.

Serie A giants AC Milan have also been mentioned alongside the 22-year-old centre-back who has become a key man in Neil Lennon’s triumphant squad who are now focused on 10-in-a-row.

Parkhead No.2 John Kennedy insists prized assets such as Ajer and Odsonne Edouard will still be at the club as they bid to hit the magical double figures in the title sequence.

Lennon’s trusted right-hand man, speaking to the Scottish Sun, said: “It’s the same every year at Celtic.

“There’s always the challenge of clubs bidding for players and wanting to take them.

“In a way it’s nice as you know you have a group of players of value. We are in a position where we do have a lot of good young players.

“We understand they will attract interest from elsewhere, but we want to try to hold on to them.

“If we can keep this group together they are only going to improve.”

Celtic, in the meantime, have been in touch with German and English clubs to help prepare for a possible June training return.
