Key decision of the year for Neil Lennon

1418

If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported.  One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole.  You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.

It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.

Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make.  Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins.  Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game.  Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

What an incredible amount of obsequious, Murray-approved, fawning horsesh#t.

Yet I’m amazed Paul Sinclair could type all that with his mouth full…

  3. I think the huns will fund both there new stadium and their team when they get their tax rebate.

Davis has grabbed that ball ran with it five yards and put it down away from all the other players and Thomson allowed it.

Not even nearly how you described it.

foul was indeed taken about 5 yards away from where the offence took place but, equally, David caught the ball and put it straight down for the free kick.

I honestly think it’s one of thoise where your opinion will depend on which team you support. Therefore, you are 100% correct! ;-)

That was the archetypal Hun goal – freekick given to them in midfield, taken quickly at least 5 yards from where the offence was, Healy clearly offside in the six yard box when it was put in. Why did the referee not pull the freekick back?

Well, we can only guess at that…

I’ve watched it again and he didn’t travel with it but he has certainly moved it away from where the foul was taken. Would Saints have been allowed to do that?

  8. There was little wrong with the free kick apart from the fact it wasn’t even a foul. Healy was definitely interfering with play.

Great stuff -I’ll let you know when I’m next up the road (ex St David’s?)

BTW I have a cracking foto of Johnstone HARP 1887 (Wearing the hoops years before Celts..)

Fot has one of our first ‘keepers W Dunning and Peter Dowds who both went onto play for the early Celts’ teams …my gr gr grandfather is also in that foto but he never got the call-up.

IF freekicks don’t need to be taken from the place where the offence occured, and IF a player being offside within touching distance of the keeper inside the six yard box are not interfering with play, then no, there was nothing wrong with the Huns’ goal.

  11. It doesn’t matter where Hun took their free kick from….badly defended by St Johnstone end if story

It’s tune that some if you started to look for a footballing excuse why the Huns get what they get instead of coming up with petty minded excuses

It’s time some of you cane oot of your wee protective cybertim bubble

  12. Quick thinking by Davis for their goal, but doubtful any other team would have been given the leeway to take the freekick from a position 6 yards away from where the (soft) foul was.

As for Healy, he is 2 yards from goal, right in from of the keeper. How can he not be interfering?

Huns are a dire team, however, really dire.

dirtymac – Lomas said they tapped him up without consulting St J before due date to talk to players running out of contract.

Jobo – LC Final is Paddys Day weekend,Sun 18 march possibly?

  14. StMichaelsBhoy2 on

You can’t blame Davis for taking the freekick quickly, yards away from the offence, but what was the referee thinking? The freekick sent Rangers through on their defence. It was taken from the wrong place and should have been re-taken from the correct spot. It’s what would have happened to any other team in the league.

No. Some people here can make anything contentious.

St. Johnstone were poor at the goal. That was all.

They have also had two good chances to score with headers and wasted them.

I’m not having it. What is the point of rules if they aren’t used?

One ball over the line constitutes things like that today being evened out. Risible and Healy was offside and interfering with play.

  17. Yes I agree but what I dont agree with is when saints where on attack out left flank Thompson pulls it back.
