If you thumb through the pages of the Celtic Quick News comments section you’ll find a couple of overlapping areas of indifferent form being reported. One for Beram Kayal and one for the team as a whole. You’ll also note several contributors commenting that Beram’s form improved after his new contract was signed, settling speculation surrounding the player.
It may be coincidental that Beram’s form seemed to pick up after his future was settled but the fact that this happened a few days after the pivotal 3-3 draw at Kilmarnock suggests a whole lot of what has been going right at Celtic was linked to the Israeli’s form in this crucial central midfield area.
Neil Lennon has a huge tactical decision to make. Get it wrong and he will not be able to replicate the impressive run of 10 consecutive wins. Before making a decision, a good place to research would be videos of Celtic’s run up to and including that Kilmarnock game. Knowing some of the things to avoid is a good start.

Great news Kris Commons is back – let’s hope he doesn’t have another fight with Lenny tonight – they must be on to round seven by now…
I should add I am joking before another negative rumour starts about our club. You never know who is peekin’ in … well, you do, but not their monikers.
Spot on P67
Kayal is key…therefore finding an alternative is the challenge – Vic will be part of the solution – Ki is not. Utility man Mulgrew will also come in handy….and I wouldn’t discount McCourt as part of what we need to do…
What about the 2 trialists any info
Kayal33-is Sandancer in St J squad for tomorrow?

Lol a club record, not the Scottish Cup record. That single result almost – haha – but not quite would have done it on its own!

Important travel info: Closure of London Road
By: Newsroom Staff on 13 Jan, 2012 15:46
STRATHCLYDE Police have advised that London Road, between Fielden Street (next to Police Office) and Abercromby Street (west of Bridgeton Cross) is closed both east and westbound due to an unsafe building.
This closure is likely to be in effect over the weekend and will have an impact on traffic heading to Saturday´s Clydesdale Bank SPL fixture between Celtic and Dundee United.
Diversion routes at this time are as follows:
• Traffic travelling east, from the City will be diverted either north on to Abercromby Street towards Gallowgate or south on to Arcadia Street.
• Traffic travelling west towards the City Centre will be diverted south on to Dunn Street or north towards Gallowgate.
It is anticipated that Bridgeton Railway Station may also close. Supporters travelling to Saturday’s game are asked to allow additional time to get to the Stadium and follow the directions of the Police.
In 1885, Arbroath scored 55 goals in the Scottish Cup, including the famous 36-0 win over Bon Accord in the first round. They were knocked out when losing 5-3 to Hibs in the 4th round.
During the Bon Accord match, they had 5 goals disallowed. Bon Acord apparently were a cricket club accidentally invited by the SFA into that yearl’s competition. 36-0 wouldn’t have been too upsetting for them I suppose.
While Arbroath were smoking Bon Accord, up the road in Aberdeen Dundee Harp were playing Aberdeen Rovers in the same round. The Referee recorded a 37-0 win for Harp, but the Harp match secretary insisted the referee had miscounted, that it was only 35 goals, and thus a 35-0 result was telegraphed to the SFA.
See blazers!
Bummer eh.
Hearing on Talksport that Darlington FC are about to go to the wall.
Would this not be a great opportrunity for us to buy into the English setup?
We could fill the team with our reserves and youth and run it as a second business until we are into the English Leagues proper and then move them a’la Wimbeldon up to Glasgow and rename them.
Surely this is something that should be examined as a possible solution to our escaping the hun loving criminals up here!

Sally was on SSN,said they had informed St Johnstone that they had made an offer to the player to sign him when his contract was up.
And that they didn’t think they should play him tomorrow, asit would be unfair on the player!
Showera…..
Len B-Would be a great idea, but would we pick up their debt?
For central midfield Id go with Wanyama, Victor Wanyama oooh oh alongside Joe Ledley playing as an attacking central midfielder or Ki when he is in the mood for it but he naturally sits back in his South Korea role.
Kris Commons isnt really needed just now, theres players in the wide positions that deserve their place.
The team that will win the league.
Forster
Mathews, Muldini, K. Wilson, Emiliiiiiiiiiio
———Wanyama——
Forrest——————Samaras
———Ledley/Ki——-
Stokes and Hooper
I dont want any new signings. Keep it as it is, if we need another striker Samaras can go back in there and The Genius can go on the wing.
With that line up and Anthony Stokes 15/2 two goals behind evens money favourite Gary Hooper to be top SPL goal scorer is great value.
Odds n sods

Dundee Harp beat Aberdeen Rovers 35-0 THE SAME DAY!
BTW,the ref thought it was 37,but agreement on 35 was reached with the clubs.

Just thought I’d float it out there to see what folks think, but heard a caller on there saying two weeks of Tevez’s wages would cover them. Not siure if that’s all debts or if this is just immediate requirements.
Either way we would have a foot in there so might well be worth it.

Stokes 1st goal 3-0, 20-1….done.
Regards Sandaza
There are 3 Championship clubs watching him tomorrow.
All 3 clubs can double the wages that the Tax Dodgers XI are offering him in the pre contract
Sandaza is aware of these clubs coming to watch him tomorrow
Incidentally. I wonder how Sally will feel if one of his players were to crock the Spaniard tomorrow?
Lol lads, the Geek Factor on here never ceases to amaze me.
Brilliant facts, and I’ll put them in the follow-up article tomorrow when I write the answer, which I’m sure many of you already know.
Great stuff as ever.
Len B..re Darlington a cracking new stadium too also just beside the M1/AI just up from scotch corner.HH

To summarise then…DON’T PLAY SB IN CENTRE MID!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!
for those speculating on an oldco newco
Doesn’t the SFA have a role here? Aren’t all clubs required to be registered with the SFA at the start of a season and that the registration date closes shut just like a transfer window? That is to say that if you fail to register in time you cannot play as you are not ‘in’?
This applies as much to ‘professional’ leagues as it does to others?
Therefore whilst the SPL can consider any body it wishes to join its club, only those registered at the commencement of the season are eligible to be licensed to play?
If this is indeed the case then the SPL could pass their membership around, but only to an SFA registered professional club, approved at commencement of the season.
Any new ‘club’ seeking to join any league would have to first make application to the SFA to be recognised and licensed before the SPL could decide it was to be admitted as a member of the ‘elite’?
Therefore if oldco was liquidated and ceased to be, the SPL could only choose from those clubs formally licensed to play in the ‘professional’ game as a valid club to receive said membership?
So for the remainder of this season (should the SFA be so minded) only a fully licensed club could fill the slot.
It would of course be open to the SPL to complete their league with one club less if they so chose to do.
In regards the TV ‘contract’. At the point where oldco was liquidated, according to the terms of the contract, the said contract would become null and void since it is dependent on 4 Glasgow derbies occuring. With oldco not in existance SKY/ESPN would immediately be contract free (if they so chose to be).
I think the SPL’s TV contract is under more threat than is being related since one second after the liquidation of oldco (the subject of the contract term) the contract falls. Any newco would be a separate entity and not the entity referred to in the contract, so even if a quick newco deal was struck, the existing contract is broken.
If Celtic wished to challenge the status of the ‘newco’ it could refuse to play fixtures against such a structure thereby forcing the issue.
I think though that the current Scottish ‘requirements’ around the establishment of, registration of and licensing of a ‘club’ mean that any newco will take some time to bring into the fold let alone start assuming specific statuses within the game.
Further, on liquidation, the registration of the players are no longer an ‘asset’ but pass to the SFA who can then decide how best to ‘transfer’ on those registrations. I suspect that the SFA would need to ‘transfer on’ those registrations at a pace that would outstrip the ability of a new ‘body’ seeking to achieve ‘club’ status in order to start to acquire player registrations in order to build a team licensed to play in a ‘professional’ league.
There are many as yet under developed aspects of this that are there to be teased out.

How are Partick Thistle placed to be in one of the top 2 spots in Division 1?
If the other result had been recorded as 37 – 0, would anyone have ever heard of Bon Accord?

Membership of the SPL confers membership of the SFA.
A team won 35-0 the same day Bon Accord scored 36.
Just noticed this in the Times, sorry if anyone else has picked up on it.
–Swedish midfielder Mervan Celik has also been linked with Rangers.
The 21-year-old is out of contract and available and would be an affordable option for McCoist.
Some compensation would be due to former club GAIS, but it is unlikely to amount to more than £100,000.
Celik struck 14 goals in 27 appearances last season. The acquisition of a midfielder may pave the way for Maurice Edu to leave, although Rangers are adamant Sochaux will need to bid closer to £2m to land him.–
Could you imagine the confusion that would cause? Huns shouting “C`mon Celik!”
What would Jeff Winter make opf it?
According to Wiki/EWLB Arbroath played 5 at the back that day, which probably accounts adequately for the fact that they conceded no goals.
Rumours abounding that Southampton have put in a £6m bid for Hooper. Hmmm.
BobbyRussell: 13 January, 2012 at 16:45
“What would Jeff Winter make of it?”
He would make a pathetic attempt at blaming someone else.
