Kieran, Jozo, daring to complain about the Government

425

I lost count the number of times I heard “Worst Dundee United team I’ve ever seen” on the way out of Celtic Park yesterday. They were guileless, unable to do any more than stand in Celtic’s way, and they didn’t even do that very effectively, as Leigh Griffiths demonstrated.  I hope Mixu gets a grip on things soon as I’ve seen a better United team than that relegated.

For Celtic it was an important win on the back of a week to forget. Martin O’Neill was fond of saying the most important thing after a defeat is to avoid another one, when confidence slips it can often do so for a while.

Kieran Tierney won the free kick which led to the second goal and the penalty for the third. His energy levels were high and he looked every inch a Celtic player. Ronny knows teenage talent needs to be developed at a comfortable pace but the stage is Kieran’s right now he might just make the position his own.

Delighted to see Jozo Simunovic after a long and, for some, worrying absence. This was a difficult game to judge central defenders, as Celtic did so little defending, but what was asked of him was carried out well. He also showed a decent change of pace and sent a rasping shot on target from 30 yards.

While last week will take a while to leave the system, the next five days are enormously important: Heats in the League Cup on Wednesday before Aberdeen on Saturday. We can speculate on what’s destroyed Aberdeen, but whatever it is, there will be clear decks for the visit to Glasgow on Saturday, but before then we have one of our biggest domestic challenges of the season at Tynecastle.  Need to get it right for both.

My first reaction when I saw the Green Brigade banner yesterday was they some poor sod was likely to get huckled for this entirely peaceful and appropriate protest against a ridiculous law and ever-conspiratorial government and police. Such is the nature of the Offensive Behaviour Act that you can’t really complain about the Scottish Government confident that you are free to do so.

The Scottish Government-Police Scotland pact is set in stone. No amount of ridicule from courts to stadiums seem to affect it.  I remain appalled and alarmed.

  1. Interesting rum our re Celtic exploring options in USA.

Personally I think we are 5 to 8 years too late.

The values of franchises have risen considerable as the linked Forbes report shows.

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/chrissmith/2013/11/20/major-league-soccers-most-valuable-teams/

Beckham is reported to be fronting a bid for a Miami franchise.

Miami was the location of the ill fated Miami Fusion.

Like wise the collapse of Tampa Mutiny proved that South Florida was a grave yard for professional soccer.

    Up till now.

Recently Orlando City were granted a franchise and their 2015 average attendance was almost 33,000, a figure many EPL teams would love.

    Howevva

The NASL is the poor cousin of MLS and our interest would leave us pottering around a league which has considerably less drawing power and financial clout.

    Answer.

Hook up with David Beckham and create a local, yes local, rivalry with Orlando.

  2. Further speculation on an MLS franchise.

I know we are supposed to be considering NASL but to me it is a losing proposition.

One way to perhaps make an MLS franchise a paying proposition for Celtic is to explore setting up a derby type rivalry with a team in a major population Centre.

Possibilities include Tampa, Baltimore, Boston, and Hamilton Ontario.

I’ve no doubt there are a few others.

Tampa metropolis has a population of 3 million or so and would set up local rivalries with Miami and Orlando.

The Toronto area has a population about the same as Scotland’s and would put us up against Toronto FC who have been drawing reasonable attendances.

Average attendance figures are at this link.

    http://www.empireofsoccer.com/sets-attendance-records-41617/

A local rivalry would enhance attendances as witnessed by the attendance figures at the New York City and Red Bulls games.

A club in the Delaware Valley or Baltimore would see local derbies with DC United or Philadelphia Union.

A gem in the New England area would set up a rivalry with NE Revolution in an area with a population 1.5 times that of Scotland.

An east coast franchise would be able to tap into the large Irish Scottish identity as would the one in Hamilton.

So if the rumor is true there are a fair few areas we could investigate for MLS membership, in preference to the NASL.

Or, will resemble a sooty & sweep show?

    Will Jessica Fletcher be there?

When the rebels in 1994 were waiting to take over the club from, the Kelly’s & White’s….they had to wait till things got real bad…. a bit like the Celtic fans of today….waiting for things to get real bad….probably in the shape, of the huns returning to the same league as us and, Celtic FC going along with the chicanery-cheating-deception-swindle-mibbery to accomodate them.

If, all the above comes to fruition….will Celtic supporters become puppets like the ones in the dugout?

Or, will Celtic supporters finally realise that they, and them alone can save the game of football in this country by giving the Celtic hierarchy a – GIRFUY – and telling them, you’ll steal no more of our money.

Introduce a little anarchy to upset the ‘establishment’ order in the Celtic Park boardroom…let them know that, we’ll all be taking a leaf from KEVJUNGLE’s book and keeping our SB-money in our pockets and, the only way that this money will find it’s way into the club…will be in exchange for control of ‘OUR’ club.

Possibly all clubs are simply businesses but the supporters reflect their Club`s individual ethos.

Many Celtic supporters still retain the `More than a Club` philosophy but it is likely that , to remain a big Club, CelticFC have to adopt a very business like approach . Me? I`ll continue in the simple vein of feeling connected to Celtic and enjoy watching my team.

Good morning friends from a dry, bright East Kilbride adorned this morning by a beautiful pastel coloured sky. Nature can be wonderful, can’t it.

    Hail Hail fella.

Well it’s like this….how much backing does the club currently get from the clutch of billionaires on our board?

So, what’s the point in having them?

All they seem to do is big-up the huns?

The way that I see it….Celtic FC are being shafted by a clutch of feckers who’s forte is – ripping the p#sh oot of Celtic supporters. That has to stop.

Ah mean….Celtic supporters main interest is watching the team on the pitch and, having a decent manager with cojones to take on the anti-Celtic establishment.

We have today, a racketeer who seems to have an endless supply of foreign-junk-types of players who are foisted upon a puppet-manager to make a team out of…..which is the reason why the previous manager left…although, coz of the confidentiallity-clause-culture at the club….he had to cobble together some sort of gobble-dee-gook….we’re all in this together type of statement to decieve the fans into thinking all was well beh ind the scenes….it’s not….Celtic FC are a rudderless ship.

So, why do we need multi-millionaire backers when…the fans can manage the money better….without the shady, bring the quality of the product on the pitch right down so that we’re not too far in front of the huns….policy which seems to be the order of the day…if it isn’t the order of the day….are the leaders of the club just incompetent?

No, their not incompetent…their – shady-sleekit-calculating-cold-cunning-cheating-colluders….who have tob stopped….they wont be stopped by giving them more money…starve them and….get them out….give Jeanette Findlay the keys of Celtic FC and let her and, her ilk select who should be in charge of all the different levels of Celtic FC….their the best hands that Celtic FC could hope to be in….I’ve seen the rune-stones:)

  24. I believe that JJ and Oldtim are both fine examples of honest millionaires with off the radar moral standards!

    Cheers BT ref ma briefs!

And with that I shall bid you ‘aff oot’
