Kieran Tierney:s injury, picked up while playing for Scotland against Iceland, has spooked some Celtic fans. It shouldn’t. The injury itself is apparently nothing significant. Footballers play with what are euphemistically called ‘knocks’ all the time. Few are ever 100% clear of some ailment.
Whatsmore, we should expect Kieran to be fit around 70% of the time. If he manages 80% across his time at Celtic, it would be an exceptional improvement.
Brendan will rest him for games he can afford to and play him when he has a ‘niggle’, another useful euphemism we use when we accept playing a footballer with an injury. This is football. We need to learn to accept it when it comes to Kieran and the rest of the squad.

Not interested in dugouts…….away to take the dug out.
The Blogger Formerly Known As GM @ 9:42 pm,
It was a genuine question, not sarcasm, I really want to know where the risk lies, please explain.
As you will be well aware a risk must be looked on in the round.
For instance a high net worth investor might have some money in a high risk venture.
Yet his overall portfolio may be moderate to small risk – yes!?
So, our recent recruitment….
Engels – 11 mn
Jota – 9 mn
Idah – 8.5 mn
Trusty – 6 mn
Bernardo – 3.5 mn
Kuhn – 2.8 mn
Sinisalo – 1.0 mn
McCowan – 1.0 mn
Schmeichel – Free
Keiran Tierney- Pre-contract
So, that’s less than £44 mn outgoings on recruits.
We have sold far higher value of player registrations in that time.
We are in line for record revenues, record profits, record cash in the bank.
So, no sarcasm, genuinely, please explain the risk to me.
Hail Hail
Idah has been driven to the booze by our “Look at ME I’m a Pepe clone, boring, tippy tappy, loads of possession, type of Manager” against teams with 5% of our resources and our fans love it!
That is why the fans have started leaving with 30 minutes left to play ( apart from when wee Barry makes them stay till the 97th minute!)
2 strikers is the Celtic Way – 1 striker is a manager engaged in subterfuge way and fk what the bored fans think!
Shafted by PLC boards since 1994 – by krankie since 2005. lol

I see the brilliantly named asian street food outlet at the Barras Ho Lee Fook is expanding and they are opening up a restaurant.
Pity they are not opening up an outlet inside our ground. Fook me, We are sooooo yesterday in our food and drink offerings.

Signing a quality replacement for KT is what we need to do .

Chairbhoy – if that’s my portfolio and as things stand, you’re writing down the value of Engels, Trusty and Idah.
Unfortunately you should write down the value of Jota as well because you have no idea how he’ll recover from an ACL injury.
Bernardo – who knows.
McCowen – everyone loves the story, but really? Struggled to perform against a R2ngers midfield.
Khun – I split his Celtic career in to thirds. Effectively he could be arsed/didn’t have an excuse for one third of the time he’s been here. Hopefully he has something else lined up and the profit can offset your write downs 😂
It’s not how good the dugouts are , it’s how good the players that are getting skelfs in their bahookis from bench sitting are 😉😋🙄

It’s good that the supporters that have seats behind them might be able to see the match now 👍
Belgium had their 4th goal disallowed on the apparent grounds that the ball had went out of play earlier, right next to Craig Bellamy….were we shown proof positive, that the whole of the ball crossed the shy line?
If so did anyone on here capture it?

Where is the mind boggling risk!?
You have given us a supposition based on a contrivance, haven’t you?
Just fearmongering isn’t it.
Not all of us are brainwashed into thinking every signing we make must make an exponential increase in value in one season or they are right offs.*
The value of those players haven’t tanked at all, far from it.
And the vast majority of players in our first team group have seen their value increase.
FACT – We sold our MVP for a club record fee the season before last and managed to have a better season just gone.
That’s the reality.
*“It’s a fab list Chairbhoy, but like many you miss the point- it’s about the here and now. – Think you miss the point, that is a 100 mn plus down the drain list.
Celtic have been risking supporters money for well over a decade now, since Peter and Mark were sidelined our risk is so much less.
Hail Hail
So Raskin was pulled into a squad, trained and played 20 minutes of a match in June? .. during which he did precisely two things – hoof the ball out of play and attempt to tear a guy’s shirt off with two hands …
… all before starting preseason in early July?
Meanwhile Arne is lying on a beach.
… and the downside?

I might be tempted to buy one for a laugh.

Well, look on the bright side, at least we have your insightful and scintillating posts to stop the boredom;)))

Chairbhoy – You twist words and infer things that simply are not there.
Nowhere did I say the risks were “mind boggling”.
I said it was mind boggling that none could see the risks.
Two completely different statements.
I tried to engage in genuine debate where there are always two sides, with the answer usually being ing the middle. Unfortunately in today’s world it’s either black or white, which is extremely dangerous.
I insulate myself and will leave you with a quote from Mark Twain: “never argue with an idiot, they’ll only bring you down to their level”.
Sleep well👍
Yoof punt Joey Dawson is off; back to his hometown Scunthorpe.
Was the problem that he was a poor signing by whomever scouted him?
Or Ange/Brendan’s fault for not developing him properly?
Mibby it was an injury blighted spell that conspired to do him in ?

Just up the fear…
Anyone that questions you, play the man…
The fact is their is nothing mind boggling here.
There are no BR&CO player transfer values tanking.
For the first time in a generation we have a proper recruitment strategy.
We lost a quality, experienced GK in Joe Hart, we replaced him with equivalence in Kasper Schmeichel and future proofed the position with Sinisalo.
We lost our most valuable player in Matt O’Riley, we replaced him with Arne Engels and Paulo Bernardo…
The old model, even the “successes”, did we get enough game time from those players, did we get enough money in the transfer market?
Who did we replace VVD with?
Who did we replace Victor Wanyama with?
Who did we replace Moussa Dembele with?
Who did we replace KT with?
Ecetra, ecetra, etc…
That’s where the risk lies, not having a joined up recruitment strategy.
Using player trading as a revenue stream and only as a revenue stream, is the huge risk.
That “fab list”, who was paying those players? Who was coaching those players? Who was conditioning those players?
How much time and resources went into that?
Time and resources the Club could ill afford.*
Now we are much more streamlined operation, each of the players we signed, contributed to a succesfulseason.
Since the debacle of ten in a row, we have seen consistent improvement.
We are seeing the value of a real recruitment policy in that regard.
*All that swept under the carpet as the Board back slapped each other over their great moneyball enterprise.
Hail Hail
IMHO we should should be looking at Triantis the Sunderland loanee at Hibs. Young, tall, strong, defensive mid with two good feet, very tide on the ball and a threat at set pieces.
One of the reasons Hibs had a very good second half of the season
Good morning all.

New article up
Just had a wee walk around Celtic Park there. What a mess the stadium is in. Plenty work to do there just to make it look decent and never mind anything to be proud of.
Not just usual annual maintenance stuff. Really shabby paintwork on all the security barriers peeling off everywhere. Rubbish strewn all over the place since last game. Graffiti from the ultras and GB on almost every external sign. It has the feel of a stadium which is about to be torn down.
The old MainStand internals are reminiscent of an old run down village pub or hall. The boardroom has the feel of a cheap undertakers parlour and the North stand lounges are simply passageways under the stand converted into carpeted bars instead of kiosks.
The place and the facilities really don’t match the £42 a game basic season ticket price never mind the £60 big game price. As for the premium £115 …..that is a joke.
Yet supply and demand suggests the punters are willing to pay. Just like I did for another season. Let’s hope our recruitment guys and management make it worth while this season.
Embarrassing that we advertise and take folks on tours of this place.

………………………
An excellent and well balanced post. Too many fans demand instant success without looking at the background of players.
Engels, 21. Age 19 leaves Belgium for Germany. Different language, different country. Age 20, leaves Germany for Scotland. Very different language. Different culture. Plays for huge team with 60k fans. Plays in CL for first time and acquits himself well both domestically and in Europe. Barring injury, I’m very confident he will kick on next season.
Idah. Had already paid his transfer fee during loan period. He won both the League and the Scottish Cup for us. Two goals at Hibs when we were rotten. Goal against Huns in 3-3 draw at Obrox to put us 3-2 ahead when the Huns’ tails were up. Two goals at Motherwell when we were 1-0 down late in the game and couldn’t buy a goal. The early goal at Kilmarnock to settle us in the final game when we wrapped up the League. As well as the never-to-be-forgotten winner in the dying minutes of the Scottish Cup Final when he came on with 11 minutes to go. Those goals earned us more than his transfer fee. Last season he also scored 21 goals when he wasn’t a regular starter. My observations of how he can improve further is that he needs to make more use of his physique and work on his first touch.
Trusty is the only one I have doubts about and I hope to be proved wrong. It was his first season and therefore he deserves a chance too considering the new country, new baby and other changes in his circumstances. He was too easily rag dolled by big, physical players for my liking and seemed to have an issue with losing his balance and falling over while not under any pressure.
I can’t wait for the new season.
