Killie hope to stop another treble

217

It was Kilmarnock who denied Celtic a treble last season, when they stuck to plan and delivered a 1-0 League Cup win at Rugby Park.  Derek McInnes is short of quality but knows how to get results against Celtic, he will come with a plan tomorrow.

Celtic have been imperious at home this season, Aberdeen are the only Scottish side who have avoided defeat when visiting this season.  This form should fortify confidence for tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie.

I expect to see Kuhn return to the starting lineup, with Kyogo through the middle. Get the job done, Celtic.

  1. Happy Friday CQN.

Brunch time KO tomorrow in the lone star state.

Hope we can shake the cobwebs off ahead of YB next week.

Hopefully should get a reaction from the midweek game. If so it should be fairly comfortable, although the opposition have it in them to make life awkward for us. Kind of game where you wouldn’t want to be losing the first goal.

  3. Tomorrow is a game where we need to start taking our chances and making sure our defenders don’t let themselves be bullied.

I expect changes. Idah and Trust should miss out and someone other than Yang.

  4. Yes, interesting team that lined up for Celtic, that day at Rugby Park

    Hart

    Ralston Lagerbielke Nawrocki Taylor

    Holm McGregor O’Riley

    Abada Kyogo Meada

    Or possible changes tomorrow…

    Schmeichel – Hart

    Kuhn – Abada

    Johnston – Ralston

    O’Riley – Bernardo

    Holm – Engels

Although Meada and Kuhn on the bench for me tomorrow, don’t start with both Bernardo and Engels…

Minimise the damage McInnis’s Hammer Throwers can inflict on our team for Wednesday’s game.

    Hail Hail

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was full of praise for winger Yang Hyun-jun after he scored in the Hoops’ enthralling 3-3 draw with Dundee on Tuesday evening.

The South Korean put the Bhoys 2-1 up at the beginning of the second half, only for them to be pegged back moments later when Cameron Carter-Vickers diverted Josh Mulligan’s low cross into his own net.

It was Yang’s first goal of the season and second overall since joining the Scottish Premiership champions a year and a half ago from Gangwon FC in his homeland.

Post-match, Celtic boss Rodgers was full of praise for the 22-year-old, who he revealed has been working hard behind the scenes at Lennoxtown: “He gave everything in the game,” he said.

“I’ve got to say he’s done about 100 hours [of] shooting practice, and he scores with a header! He’s worked so hard at his game, bless him. He gives his all.

“He had some good moments in the first half. He puts so much extra work in the training field.”

6 guys i work with are booked up for the West Ham v Crystal Palace game.

    Sitting together £42 each.

£99 hotel for two nights in London.

    Are our league prices competitive?

What was the vost of the flights/transport up and down?

Daily spending money over 2 days?

    You omitted both?

A ticket for our game is cheaper if available, and i know from friends who attended Arsenal and Spurs for a game the tickets where way more dearer than £42 you post.

West Ham when moving to their new ground accounted for non sb tickets as ones from the tourist market, they are on sale from the same vendors who will get you a ticket for the west end theatre.

Interesting that neither Narwoki or Holm (both highly rated young poty on their home markets were deemed worthy of being given a chance at Celtic.

    ——–

Yep I was disappointed neither of those two lads managed to impress enough to become starters, esp Lagers after he scored for us in the Champs League. But CCV, Liam and Auston are all superior to those players imo.

I also said – when we signed Tilio from Oz – that he was another Arzani with lovely flicks and tricks but lacking discernment with his final ball or strike. Tilio was rated v highly here in Oz. He’s still to be fit enough to get a start for City in the ALeague – and I think he will find his level in Oz and not at a truly big club like ours.

As for Killie at home on Sat (Sun 04.30 Oz time) despite McInnes’ latest audition to succeed Bald Lordemort, I trust that we will prevail.

    That’s also my biggest concern.

There’s physicality and there’s brutality… I know which one McInnes favours

I enjoyed that wee story. I knew the Murdoch brothers too, I played football with Billy. I also knew the Joe Duffy of the story.

Great to see you on here again.

I played against Billy- he was a really great player but it must have been difficult for him knowing his brother was the greatest ever Celt in many people’s eyes – especially mine!

    Sitting together £42 each.

West Ham deserve credit for delivering two events in London for just £42.

    – the game itself

    – the mass fist fight among West Ham fans

  12. Tomorrow’s team I’d go for the following :

    KS

    AJ cCV AT GT

    PB. AE. RH

    NK KF Y

Calum should be rested , pulling Engels back worked well against StJohnstone ……. Daizen to get 30 minutes and hopefully we can get a good lead and sub CCV and KF with a view to Wednesday.

I was there in August and was told by one of the staff (whom I’d given 20 euros for letting us in) that work was later starting this year.

Vale Bhoy, have you a clear idea actually when the work will be starting? I’m aiming to go to Lisbon probably May/June.

    Thanks

  14. SCANIEL @ 1:01 PM,

Yes, that’s exactly what it is.

At Ibrox we saw Kuhn assaulted, with no protection from the officials.

We must use the squad wisely but have enough to deal with their brutality and also to win the game.

    Hail Hail

  15. BOURNESOUPRECIPE @ 12:34 PM,

  16. Looking again at the team for that Killie game.

Remember where Matt O’Riley was as a player.

Who’d a thought, eighteen months later, he’d played a brilliant season for Celtic and got a move to the EPL with a record breaking fee…

    Still we know…

…developing players is not for everyone

    Hail Hail

  17. Weebobbycollins on

Scaniel…I agree, Billy Murdoch was a smashing player, as was young James. However, when I hung out and played with Billy, big brother Bobby was just getting into his stride at Celtic, having recently been given a new role by big Jock. Under Jimmy McGrory he was played as a normal inside-right, Jock turned him into a ‘link-man’ along with wee Bertie. That was the turning point in his career. I recall a game against Hearts where Bobby got injured and a stretcher was brought on for him. I turned to say something to Billy only to see his eyes filled with tears and a look of great concern on his face. Such was the love he had for his big brother…

  18. I feel the academy fulfills something more than a singular objective of producing first team footballers for Celtic fc to trade upon.

I dip in and out of Brendan Sweeneys books about the early Celtic.

And a fact that jumps off the pages, before a Celtic came into being, was the value of getting thos catholic kids to school by having a football in the playground, and organising games to provide funs.

This was happening for a dozen or so years before the formation of the official celtic club.

Since then thousands and thousands of kids have played for some sort of Celtic team. Good enough to be given a chance, but at the onset, a chance to escape grinding poverty, and getting some food.

The modern academy, I would love if it produced first team footballers, but in the big hurdy gurdy of taelnt watching, if they are very good they will be attracted elsewhere, and the others find their level.

For me, the operation of an academy is a core fundamental of this is what it means to be celtic.

The financing of it, and its output should not be measured in first team appearances only.

It is more than a club.

  19. Maeda and Kuhn have been sidelined recently so I expect them to start tomorrow to help them get up to speed. I think we’ll see the return of Scales and he’ll most likely keep his place for Wednesday. Trusty is a better option imo but Liam is something of a teacher’s pet.

Get the job done early and rest legs for Wednesday.

  20. Killie form has been a bit iffy at home lately so at CP I expect us to cut loose.

    3-0 going on 5-0 tomorrow

    Hail Hail

  21. Celtic have added 80-year-old former Tottenham Hotspur manager David Pleat to their English scouting set up. (The Herald)

  22. garygillespieshamstring on

I think Trusty and Scales seem to trade places whenever one plays until he fluffs his lines then the other gets a chance.

So I expect Scales to start tomorrow and also on Wednesday if he comes through tomorrow without a catastrophe.

Although Brendan might decide Wednesday is more important than the Scottish Cuo so wrap CCV in cotton wool and start Trusty and Scales together.

My workmates are travelling down on the train. They got a good deal as they are pre booked. ( Even on a Friday ) .Use of Oyster card to do a pub crawl in London.

Now I take what you say. One of the group is a Spurs supporter and their tickets are far more expensive.

I want Celtic to be as accessable to as many who desire to see us.

I would always prioritise the match attending supporters and subsequently I would wish to enhance the match day experience.

I do not like to see bon-ifidi supporters or families being priced out.

ST prices are paid for and in general we are happy to pay what the club ask..However I would wish to see cut price deals for remaining tickets to encourage and attract supporters.

We should not be charging more than West Ham for a league game.

Im also sure you will agree with me that we should keep faith with our supporters and deny the huns any tickets for Parkhead .

No huns in Paradise. We don’t need them and we certainly don’t want them.

David Pkeat obviously knows a lot about football, although his quality of post match celebrations is questionable.
