Killie hope to stop another treble

217

It was Kilmarnock who denied Celtic a treble last season, when they stuck to plan and delivered a 1-0 League Cup win at Rugby Park.  Derek McInnes is short of quality but knows how to get results against Celtic, he will come with a plan tomorrow.

Celtic have been imperious at home this season, Aberdeen are the only Scottish side who have avoided defeat when visiting this season.  This form should fortify confidence for tomorrow’s Scottish Cup tie.

I expect to see Kuhn return to the starting lineup, with Kyogo through the middle. Get the job done, Celtic.

  1. I just noticed that the David Pleat thing actually was not a joke. It is serious. He actually is working for Celtic apparently. That says it all. I really do give up.

2 clubs heading in very different directions.

Celtic40me you are spot on that we would not have signed Frimpong Kuhn ORiley under Brendan.

Reading rangers manager article from interview with Tom English we see a man prepared to take the heat and be unpopular knowing his clubs position. Looking at our guy I see a guy only interested in himself and his reputation and short term success. Ego gone crazy. No regard for the future financial health of his club. Leicester showed it and it seems we are going a similar path.

  2. BURNLEY78 @ 9:49 PM,

“…“Kuhn had interest from other clubs but insists the call from Celtic and a chat with boss Brendan Rodgers made up his mind to make the move to Glasgow.

He said: “We had some really good meetings, we talked a lot and he told me what a great and big club this is although I knew about Celtic before and I also saw some games.

“He convinced me to come here and everything he told me was really nice and I had the first training session today.

“It was clear at the moment Celtic called and showed interest that I wanted to come here.

“There was some interest from other clubs but the moment I received the message I didn’t think about going somewhere else.”

As for Rodgers, he said of the new arrival: “We are delighted to welcome Nicolas to Celtic. We believe he is a dynamic player who has an excellent level of quality and all the attributes to fit well into our style of play.

“He has the profile we are looking for, he has a real attacking intent, a player with great pace and ideas, the ability to create and score goals and a player with a great energy and work ethic.

“He is someone who can play wide on both sides so he brings with him that versatility for us too, and myself and the coaches here really look forward to working with him.”

Now remind me – is it Liverpool or Man Utd where Mark Lawwell is head of recruitment

Bit of a hatchet job tonight on BR, all without a shred of evidence. Why don’t you just out yourself as an anti Roger’s fan and be done with it.

Time enough to count the trophies when the season’s done!

    (apols to Kenny Rogers )

Leicester and Celtic = chalk and cheese .

Tom English and objective journalism = chalk and cheese .

    Wow B78

BR took a lot of heat last season from INSIDE Celtic park,he got nothing but 100% support from the fanbase who were weary of his coming back, his biggest battle until DD stepped in.He has no need to follow any narrative from the rekord or any other bog roll that pretends its balanced in reporting of Celtic.

You just cant help yourself comparing us to the hun, thats you at your best, whit the huns daen.

Again you are wrong in comparing to Leicester,we do not have a board who gamble on our tv receipt ,nor do they with more than £100m of OUR money laid in a bank account.i think you should get behind the upscaling of transfer targets, the few who do come in that is.if we win league this year and qualify for CL and with the continual deradation of rifc by rifc .

Ÿou mentioned market capitalization earlier, they are not even in our slipstream.shares at 4p all 740million of them, their value is barely solveable.

(Thats approx the ones we know of)

It is odd b78,on eve of a cup tie when you are usually berating those who dont attend yet you show no confidence in our boss.

What we do not need is a sniper behind our lines and that what your coming across as,funnily enough your confudence seems awol since we got beat 3-0 at new year, its now grown arms and legs into how BR runs our club.

    Trust him

  6. BURNLEY78 @ 9:49 PM,

You have accused Brendan Rodgers being ruthless and being prepared to bankrupt our Club in order to boost his own standing on many occasions.

You also claim to be a very successful high level business executive.

Yet you do not put forward any logical or meaningful analysis to back up your claims’ which of course are as true as ML head of recruitment at Liverpool.

Celtic PLC will have over 100 mn in the bank at the end of this financial year – how much more will depend on how far we go in the UCL

We have brought in more money in player sales than we have spent.

Since Ange left we have, for various reasons, taken over thirty players off our wage bill.

The idea that anything Celtic PLC are doing at the moment is risky or foolhardy or even spendthrift is total nonsense.

    Hail Hail

  7. Here was me thinking Khun was signed by Rodgers last January 🙄

Must have dreamt the Khun article I read that basically said Rodgers persuaded him to come !!

Some absolute guff gets written on this page sometimes!!

  8. All this talk surrounding Brendan has me perplexed.

You bring in a particular manager in order to be successful – full stop.

You give him the licence, trust and the financial backing in order that his skills, judgement, experience bring success to the football club. Like all appointments to senior positions there is a mix of risk and reward.

Brendan has produced the goods(the rewards) in bundles during his two spells as manager. During his time and in between, the club has thrived financially and is now, as next month’s interims will no doubt show, richer than it has ever been.

What risk does Brendan Rodgers expose Celtic to?

What risk has he ever exposed Celtic to?

It seems as though some, unable to argue with his trophy haul and our current brilliant position, are now coming for him on player recruitment – including some of the very players who have got us to where we are right now.

Trusty and Idah are being singled-out and cast-up as an example of the manager’s incompetence – this is unfair, blinkered and wildly premature.

In the last ten years two people stand head and shoulders above all others in guiding Celtic to be the most successful Scottish sporting entity in history, on and off the field. Those two are Peter Lawwell(c20 years) and Brendan Rodgers(c5years). I don’t forget Ange, however he is not the subject of disparagement at this moment – at least not by Celtic fans.

Diverse opinion is always welcome, some would say necessary, but surely it must be based on fact and be contextual and balanced. HH

  9. Also it is worth noting the UEFA FSR….

    “Cost control

For the first time, clubs are subject to a squad cost rule to apply better control over player wages and transfer costs.

The new rule limits spending on player and coach wages, transfers and agent fees to 70% of club revenue. We will roll out the new threshold progressively: 90% in the 2023/24 season and 80% in 2024/25, before applying the permanent 70% ceiling from 2025/26. Breaches will result in predefined financial penalties as well as sporting measures.

Investing in players while we can spend 80% of our football income, means that if we sell a high value player after this season, that will be regarded as football income – and gives us greater buying power for our 70% in seasons to come.

We maybe be in the position R2ngers are now, in that we will be selling players in order to buy them – yet unlike R2ngers, we have half a dozen high value players that would be snapped up if we put them in the shop window.

    Hail Hail

  10. It’s really hard to change your ways when your company sold to both sides of the Glasgow divide …😉😜

  11. On FSR…

Of course, I’m not suggesting Celtic max out their percentage, but it could afford us more headroom.

    Hail Hail
