Killie prove you can get at this Rangers team

977

I watched Kilmarnock previous home game against Inverness, as shambolic a defensive performance as I have seen in the SPL.  Shipping six goals against the team who were, and remain, bottom of the league is the kind of result that can decimate team morale, but St Johnstone’s result at Ibrox last week offered some encouragement that you can get at this this Rangers team.

It’s worth pointing out a few things.  Rangers are still four points clear at the top of the league, if we were in that position we would rightly be delighted and confident.  Pascali’s goal for Kilmarnock was also only their second goal conceded in eight SPL away games and only their seventh overall in 16 games – getting on for half a season.  By comparison, Celtic have conceded 14 goals, including three at Kilmarnock.

While that defensive record is commendable, the loss of Steven Naismith leaves them disproportionately dependent on Nikica Jelavic to maintain their goal-scoring threat, and Jelavic is not known for season-long durability.

When news came through that Sone Aluko had paid his transfer fee to become a Rangers player few of us expected him to make as quick an impact on the league table as he has, single-handedly playing three Kilmarnock players onside at the goal.  This is an unfortunate start to the player’s Rangers career but Rangers fans have a reputation for scapegoating (among other things).  For some, Aluko’s card is marked.  He’ll need a lot of talent to recover from this one.

I do hope that the RST guy doesn’t mind you re-posting because you have just broken copy-right law……Honestly!

I hope if he complains he keeps it within the Celtic family.

    RST you say.

What chance do we have of the rangers supporters trust keeping it within the Celtic family?

I think our buys have all been good ones over the last season or so, kudos for getting so many right is what I say.

The Media dragged up a story (AFAIK) and put Gordon in the ESPN studio for a Celtic game. Gordon being the Total Celtic Legend not Legned decided to run rings round Hately and totally dominated the analysis but done it with pure style normally associated with Spanish ‘pundits’.

He also smiled as he was embarressing the amatuers. ;)

    Spot on.

Never mind the appallingly blatant one sided presentation in favour of the huns every week, the whole show is amateur time. Production and presentation are absolutely rank. It’s like a throwback to the seventies.

I never watch it now unless I turn over by coincidence when it is on.

  8. Great weekend for the bhoys! We have played well and got ourselves back into this title race. I could even check the score yesterday, I was hoping for draw! So delighted.

Dundee Utd away after a European game when it could be back to 7 points when we take to the field it going to be another real test for us.

Can´t wait for Wednesday! Bring on AMadrid! Hopefully a good time to play them. Madrid derby just passed and they have a lot of injuries.

The Valleyfield house was unoccoupied at the time IIRC.

But as you know there is normally a long pause between the event and the eventual release of findings re cause. Except when there is a possibility of sectarian element.

Say again, there is a state of denial in Scotland about this. Sad but true.

The Leslie case was stranger still because the local Masonic Lodge rushed in to help rebuild. Now another local Masonic Lodge was riven by scandal when it transpired–by accidental discovery–that uniformed members of the UVF were parading at recruitment/fund raisers at the Lodge.

The Provincial Grand Master immediately withdrew the charter of the lodge but a few months later had to shame-facedly admit that he could not stop Orangemen being in the lodge.

Fair play to Neil MacKay of the Sunday Herald who broke the story but mainly it was all kept low key. Unlike the latest Lafferty non-story or indeed the Green Brigade rubbish we have to put up with as if they were a terrorist group.

  10. Sheesh, been off for a week and the first post I read when I log on appears to be Aw Naw implying that some other posters may be me in disguise, am I misunderstanding this? Because I know for a fact Aw Naw is still a tube, although I’m gratified to note he misses me.

Great week on the park. The kind of week that doesn’t (does not) define the kind of supporter you are. Hate to be arsey about this, but there are several on here who don’t deserve to enjoy the turnaround in form.

  11. Awe_Naw

Kenny Shiels is neither. I have met him on a couple of occasions (he’s originally from near why I was brought up) and he is first and foremost a football man. Despite being brought up on the “other side” he never had a bad word to say about Celtic or our fans. When I first met him, he was heading over to a Celtic match to see his son play for Hibs against us. He said he would love to see him playing for Celtic but admitted he didn’t think he would be good enough.

I can see his point. It must be frustrating for a manager of a small town team to see half (if not more) the potential support go and support another team. It’s not unique to Scotland by any stretch of the imagination, sure there are hundreds and thousands of people accross England supporting Man U or Liverpool yet not being from those cities.

He’ll maybe get his wish soon, when Rangers go to the wall, the people in those towns will have to start supporting their local side.

  12. Mort,

    I disagree strongly.

To what football ground should a Catholic father take his children too to get abused ?

Kenny Shiels should either be more precise or shut the F up.

And he is from the other side ….. what a surprise … Fog horn leg horn

  13. Declan,

It’s a fairly weak means of having a go at me because sometimes I don’t take time to capitalize the occasional ‘i’… as if this matters at all.

Aw Naw likes a fight, and he’s hoping you might be me in disguise so he can vent his perma-rage or get a rise.

Personally it amuses me that the most apt descriptions paint him as the archetypal ‘H’, although I’m assured by his paid pals that this couldn’t be further from the truth.

I think he’s just a bit naive as we all know there isn’t a chance that those from a Celtic background will ever want to ba a part of any of those clubs.

    Mort

  18. A lot of people in North and East Ayrshire like Kilmarnock (the football club, not the ‘town’, obviously).

When Rangers are gone, maybe a few of the people who go to Ibrox will start to go to Rugby Park instead. If they are playing good football and continue to make the latter stages of the cup competitions, I’m sure they’ll pick up paying customers. But that’s up to Kenny Shiels and his players.

People who like football are no more obliged to hand their cash to the nearest club than people who like wine are obliged to give their custom to their local branch of Bargain Booze.

A few years back Fr Michael Lynch was found dead in his Ayrshire – I think – chapel house after a fire in the early hours of a Sunday morning. By 6.00 am the same morning there was an official announcement that there were no suspicious circumstances. Apparently the priest neither smoked nor drank.

Father Lynch was a wonderful man, dedicated to the church and was the priest who married us almost 40 years ago. His death was a shock to this community.

I am not sure how far back non payment goes, so it might not be until May, just use of whatever leeway HMRC gives you before they get serious about collecting.

However on the basis that it is 3 months and using figures supplied on RTC, every third month HMRC pay the substantial part of Rangers wage bill.
