Kilmarnock 2-2 Celtic

335

You know what happens when you fail to defend properly, so watching Celtic be punished for Izzie failing to stop a cross, Efe allowing a man to cut in front of him, and Izzie getting into a mess, allowing his man to get behind him and run into the box, will not be a surprise. Defend like that and you don’t deserve any more from the game.

There was a vastly more interesting aspect on display.

Commons invention for Griffiths’ 2nd minute goal was a treat, four minutes later Commons shot forced MacDonald into a save. Then on 8 minutes Rogic forced a save and 60 seconds later Griffiths shot from distance was saved. On 11 minutes Forrest’s shot was saved and on 17 minutes another Commons shot was saved.

In making that last shot, Commons grimaced in pain and that was that. Celtic didn’t have another shot on target until Nir Bitton’s spectacular goal. Kris retired to the bench soon after that grimace to pack ice on his thigh, and Celtic’s game fell apart.

What price that Malmo manager, Age Hereide, underlined the words Stop Commons in his notebook?

The remainder of the game was a lottery. We should have won, on the balance of chances, but we weren’t good enough to make sure. When Kris Commons gets that ice off, Ronny had better replace it with cotton wool.

Nice Panenka from Higginbotham.

Mr Pastry – Jim Spence is on twitter and is very engaging, why don’t you ask him ?

  2. Dylan McG, Tom Rogic, Janko,Calum McG….are all better players than that Hunnite Scott Allen, so whats going on….are we tailoring our transfer policy to usurp sevco on signings?

Absolutely spot-on in what you write.

Attitude in games where we we should win is lax – as I have said on here before, the team and management seem to adopt “the goals will come” approach, in most games – Ross County, Thistle and now Kilmarnock.

The number of times we play ‘tippy tappy’ ‘pass the parcel’ and ‘over to you Claude’ around the penalty-box, instead of having an early strike, is infuriating.

On intimidation – last night reminded me so much of the ICT semi at Hampden – there we were so far ahead, squandering chances in the first-half – after the break we were bullied around and seemed to lose interest.

I said the other day, the JC ‘thing’ will become a ‘rod for our back’ every time we do not win a domestic fixture convincingly – the ‘beating’ started last night…right on cue!

    Green man,

He can’t be much of a hun if he is willing to join us. Couldn’t care less. Only his ability matters.

  5. Mr Pastry – I’m not sure if you’ve noticed but Phil and Paul67 are different people. So perhaps your request should be directed to Phil.

Additionally the politics on here come via the comments (like yours). I’m not aware of Paul67 ever writing a political story that wasn’t directly related to football. I’m therefore not sure why he should be expressing any interest in Jim Spence’s future at all.

Just one thing though. You state that the SNP would be paying him 70k + expenses. That’s not correct though is it? That would be his salary regardless of who he stood for, if he was to win a seat, given that it’s the standard MSP salary, not just that of SNP members.

  6. I heard he was dead on

There is only one reason for Celtic to sign Scott Allan – to get it right up another Glasgow team.

That will do as a reason for me.

And then loan him back to Hibs. LOL

I completely agree with you points and would go further

Hammer throwing is a tactic in this country ‘we’ll boot them off the park’ and teams get away with it against us. John Collins could have said that the likes of St Johnstone and Motherwell have been completely shown up in Europe because they had no other tactics. Thuggery like we saw last night would not be allowed in any other country with teams that can play in UEFA competitions.

The Malmo manager would not have learned much.

The SPFL should also have rules on playing surfaces. For example every season they should license their surface and set rules that it should have grass length of whatever and should be watered to some specific extent and should remain at a specific size for each game – the playing surface should not be the other tactic

    Mr Pastry,

If Corbyn wins, could you please tell Ernie Lynch to switch the last light off at Labour HQ please?

  9. Captain Beefheart

What ability?….if he had any ability, would he be playing with Hibs in the Scottish Championship.

Honestly….some people will accept anything in a Celtic jersey….but I wont.

How can you possibly justify Scott Allen….how will he improve Celtic, please tell me.

You are setting your sights very low.

Scott Allen is not good enough for Celtic..

I did, on 18 July – he did not deny it – quote ” That said I have a living to make”

Have you seen the picture of him and Hosie in the BBC Dundee studio?

What was it that Jock Stein said about Celtic jerseys and inferior players?

    The Green man

Scott Allan for me completes his passes better than most of our midfielders other than Biton. Johansen is a poor completer of a pass for me and yet he is never dropped when he has a bad game because he has an engine and runs around (running into opponents he loses the ball to).

If the boy is playing with better players it will help him. He won’t get that in Govan and he won’t get it at Hibs.

Charlie Mulgrew, Scott McDonald, Stephen Pearson and many others from SPFL clubs have come in unfancied and done well for Celtic.

Equally bad SPFL players have come and been guff as have foreign players who are supposedly good because they don’t have a recognizable name from these islands.

If players apply themselves they can become great at Celtic. Those who don’t, won’t.

Your answers are all differences WITHOUT distinctions.

  14. Captain Beefheart on

    Green Man,

I haven’t accepted him because I haven’t seen him. Is he better than Rogic? Looks bizarre but there must be some logic. Like yourself, I want the best players we can afford. Fed up with downsizing and signing striker chumps.

Praise to whoever signed Bitton, Ki etc. Some fine business has been done.

i agree mate,i posterd yesterday fretting bout the injury toll playing on an astro pitch could do.and it certainly took its toll.kc,james and nir etc i hope they are ok

    ——————–

James forrest had a good game, avoiding farmers tackles was a problem,we missed broonys drive.the game should have been over in 20 mins.

keep smiling mhen it what we learn from last nights results that is important.

hail hail and have a great day Celts

  16. BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on

    MR PASTRY

Candidates come from all backgrounds,JIm Spence’s should not be used against him. In fact, having lived in the real world sets him apart from so many politicians who have achieved little or nothing outside of politics.

As for standing for election in his home area, why not? That’s exactly where he should be trying to get elected. You would call him a carpet-bagger were he to stand elsewhere.

  17. Scott Allan will get my backing when he signs. Maybe we should loan him straight back?

Not sure we need him. He has Armstrong, Johansen, Rogic & Commons to compete with for places behind the striker.

It’s true that Rogic and Johansen could operate further back but Brown and Biton have nailed their places down and will play every week. Mulgrew is an experienced reserve.

  18. I Heard He was Dead

    No offence….but that is nonsense.

I don’t care about Scott Allen….he is very, very average.

Celtic have at least half a dozen players who cannot get a regular game….who are all better.

I seem to recall his recent outing with the sevco players, as far as I’m concerned, he can feck off to ipox.

Who says we need to support football players like that.

He should not be anywhere near a Celtic jersey.

  19. Anytime I’ve seen Scott Allan play, either on tv or in the flesh, I’ve been impressed. Firstly as a youngsters with DU, then on loan at Portsmouth or last season at Championship level. I don’t see him as a first pick right away but he gives us something different. I’d say he’s a better option as backup to the current squad players like Rogic or McGregor.

  20. I heard he was dead on

Inside The SPFL ‏@AgentScotland now10 seconds ago

Hibs approached Celtic, they want McGeouch permanently & Callum McGregor on loan, they’re offering Scott Allan, turning tables on the player

    Now that could be interesting.

  21. I DO think that Scott Allan is a talent.Wether he is a hun or not is immaterial.Playing with sharper ,better players, could possibly bring the boy on a ton.He has, what we are screaming out for, aka, last night,an eye for the “Killer pass”He supplied the 4 passes in the Hibs demolition of the Huns at Easter Rd,and his pass into the penalty spot from the touchline,at Ibrox, for another Hibs goal, was out of this world.

I personally dont believe the story, but I refuse to run down a player just for the reason he was brought up to support another team. How did that work out with Dalgleish?.

You state “the bleeding obvious” but don’t answer ANY of the salient points that I raise – just like the SNP – ask them anything on proper political matters e.g. any policies/any proposals/ oil revenue/corroboration/policing/death of couple in Stirling/Bank of England/EU membership/Shipbuilding/Scottish Financial Sector/loss of 240k FE places/mismanagement of NHS/Police with guns…etc..etc…etc

All you will get in reply is “SCAREMONGERING” LOL

  23. the long wait is over on

Today, it feels like a really poor result last night against a team who we were much superior to all over the field.

No escaping that Izzy was at fault for both goals and that Efe shouldn’t have let their striker get ahead of him.

Hopefully , nothing more than some early season lapses in concentration with a big game coming up and minds on that to some degree.

On the positive side JF looked like the player we’d all love him to be if he could just improve the final product.

Overall though I’m concerned Malmo are smart enough to have seen and exploit our obvious weaknesses.

  24. I remember watching Celtic in 67 when they were at their extreme best and invincible in most games but were still beaten by Dundee Utd the only team to beat them that season, 2-3 and it happened twice, I don’t think there was as much of a rumpus then as there is now for drawing away from home to Kilmarnock.

Celtic aren’t invincible, there will always be a few glitches that happen every season, get over it, but to get personal with players and all the grandees above them it’s a sad day for me to read all the claptrap that’s been written since last night makes me think that there are a lot of guys on here that need to stop supporting Celtic or you will be having heart problems or the like.you know the old saying, it’s only a game.

I never slagged of any player that played last night,I’ve got over it,so should you.

  25. I’m on record as not being S it Brown’s biggest fan but… BUT…

What he lacks in technical ability he has more than made up with WINNING MENTALITY….

Evident last night when he is absent and we have a team of players who lack his WINNING MENTALITY….

John Collins should rightfully be licking his self inflicted wounds.. Conceited idiot… IMO.
