Kilmarnock don’t enjoy Celtic Park

575

Kilmarnock don’t enjoy visits to Celtic Park, winning only once there since 1955, but seldom have they been on the receiving end of such a humiliating result from such a young and inexperienced Celtic team. You and I have seen these games – especially in the League Cup – go wrong so many times in recent seasons: Morton, Falkirk and Partick, to name just three.

What we have at the club now is energy and purpose that makes even our experiments seem potent. Brendan Rodgers must have been delighted at what he got from his players.

For some, like Leigh Griffiths, it was another hour nearer full fitness. These minutes are crucial in preparation for the almighty test of the season against Astana at Celtic Park one week from today.

Really pleased Roy Aitken will be around Celtic Park more often in future in his new role as Club Ambassador.  Roy was a huge figure at Celtic in the 70s and 80s, but there’s at least one generation since who know little about him.

This article describes Hail Hail (The Celtic Song) as a bit of a hybrid with the Anvil Chorus from Il Trovatore and With Cat Like Tread from Pirates of Penzance

    Cheers Jim.

My only foray into opera – I went with my wife, her sister and her then boyfriend to see Pirates of Penzance in Glasgow Theatre Royal a few years ago. Trying.a bit of culture for once.

Curtain about to go up – I leaned over and whispered to Murphy “This’ll be be different – no Celtic songs here mate!” Five seconds later, I couldn’t believe it :-)

Always makes me chuckle (you had to be there, of course !!)

Your data means nothing and you can’t prove that the Hampden ACME Ball Warmer is used for cup draws…

What is it used for then….??

  3. If they get through and their need for cash is as Phil is hinting they will draw us at whatever venue is the most beneficial to them.

  4. Moderator warns you for talking about cats and foxes but opera appears to be ok.

Where is TGM? It appears to be a bit of a class war here, maybe it’s to make it appear more like the boardroom :-)

Of course may I reiterate, I’m delighted to talk about any old nonsense, people can always scroll by.

Yeah, the mod must be some showbiz impresario in the mould of Sergei Diaghilev who knows everything about surreal humour, which he has the cheek to call ‘inane’.

Now, how inane are you if you can crack gags about Diaghilev:)

I used to object to that chant at Ocean Colour Scene gigs.

It may have been chanted at Oasis gigs but I didn’t go to Oasis gigs because their music is derivative p!sh…

  15. Watford have signed striker Andre Gray from Burnley for an undisclosed club record fee – thought to be about £18.5m.

The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal with the Hornets, who previously had two offers rejected.

Gray was in the final 12 months of his contract with Burnley and had turned down a new deal at Turf Moor.

  18. Davidopoulos.6.56.

My wee mate Jimmy McKnight was a roadie with Ocean Colour Scene. He actually used to come on stage before OCS started with some daft dancing etc, just for a laugh and to get the crowd going. Anyway my point, he died suddenly but OCS guys never forgot him when they played Glasgow about 6 months or so after his death which was maybe 10/11 years ago, they phoned his wife out the blue and told her that hospitality tickets were there for her. A lovely gesture I thought, she didn’t go but his son and partner went.

OCS were my childhood favourite band – second record I bought was Mosley Shoals in 1996. I’ve seen them many times since childhood and remember your friend. In my eyes he contributed to something truly awesome :)

  22. Thankfully all the daft cat jokes are finished with, now I can tell you my true story of the cat I once had, twas a real beauty and great fun about the house. Anyway she fell pregnant and had just the one kitten, i was going to keep the bonny wee thing but alas the moderator.

    All pop music is derivative.

Although not a big fan of them,Oasis are derivative of decent music so their better tunes are quite good.Duran Duran are pish. And The Killers.

OCS are good and have a good name also.

    White Denim’s where it’s at though. ;)

Brandon Flowers has written more beautiful songs than Noel Gallagher. And with that (possibly nuclear) bomb shell, I must catch a flight. See you on the other side :)

Please do. Her husband achieved something many kids like me could only dream of and that should be remembered!

  27. Haven’t posted for a wee while and haven’t read back so apologies if I repeat points made numerous times previously.

First of all, a huge welcome to Roy Aitken. Great choice.

I really enjoyed the game last night. Beforehand, I was a bit concerned about the number of changes and the lack of experience in the team but I’m delighted to be proved wrong. Without doubt some of the players on show will contribute to our 10-in-a-row campaign.

We are nailing things on the pitch, now to nail the cheats off the park.

  28. I have seen a few references to my post about opera and pronunciation of my moniker.

Up to my elbows in paint just now but will respond later.

  29. No wonder misbegotten closet Hun fuds like Bob Mills are getting squeaky arses and blurting out abject pish regarding the VVD transfer being manipulated by BR.

I imagine they do now realise that the glorious dawning of the sun upon their new age of empirical monkey business was merely akin to the road-testing Death Star rising into lethal orbit over planet Scarif in Rogue One (see what I did there, contemporary-sci-fi-that-adds-to-the-classic-rich-canon fans?).

The Virgil Van Dijk transfer will, in ONE single transaction, earn Celtic enough roubles to eclipse the financial wish-fulfilment of the entire pre-season Hun fantasy (now extinct like their real club) of winning the SPL, the cups and making Europa league.

The fantasy they blew the cookie-jar belly-fluff on.

The sheer teeth-grinding bitter angst of facing reality must be crippling for them.

    Beautiful. Dave F-King beautiful.
