  1. Let’s all do the huddle.

Not sure what comes first. Chicken or Egg.

Fans behave like consumers demanding instant and ongoing success as part of the transaction (well at Celtic anyway)

Club treats fans as consumers demanding a high percentage of some folks income for tickets and other merchandise

  2. The number of attendees against Feyenoord will show what our fans really feel

about the chaos under BR & Co.

    Will be interesting to see.

  3. As soon as Lawwell Snr stepped back in the building, after the first steps toward change under Ange, I knew we would regress to penny pinching once again. This man brings zero to the forward progress of Celtic FC, despite all his committees and free junkets.

How long till Rodgers jumps ship again?

  4. Before the season started I wrote on this site that the league was too close to call. No one agreed with me.

Lawwell left and things improved. He came back and things got worse. Does anyone believe we are stronger than last season? Three games against the mighty killie and we are 4-4 on aggregate. This sums up our domestic season so far.

We may lose 3 of our Japanese players and Oh in january to the Asian cup. So, even if we beat sevco in a couple of weeks this league will still be too close to call. Unfortunately, we have people running our club who have no clue.

If Lawwell is not pulling the strings then Nicholson must accept responsibility for this mess and he should go. Nine players in during the summer transfer window, spending less than we got for Jota and how many of them have been a success?

£72m in the bank at June 30th and sevco may reap the rewards of champions league money next season. Are the people running our club plain stupid or dishonest?

    It’s difficult to feel positive.

  5. Spend a few bob to ensure we just stay ahead of any rivals in the league and wallow in maudlin memories of past glories, while we endure continued humiliation in Europe.

Mediocrity abounds, imagination is absent, and creativity is zero.

In any corporate environment such as my own, heads would roll.

  6. Just in from work,

    Dreadful result.

The pressure builds for Brenden, see how he reacts,he must lay down a marker to the board

  7. BR says it was the angriest he had ever been at half time in his managerial career against St J , how did he feel at full time today,

  8. Westcraigs

So when did he leave ? And when did he return ?

Officially in the period he left we won 2 out of 3 trophies.

Since he returned we won 3 out of 3 although will lose one next week.

Of course the other view is that he never left. We know he appointed Ange on Marks recommendation. Thus we have won 5 from 6. Some might say a decent return.

As for anyone saying we have pennypinched. Look at the wagebill. Also look at the new contracts given to successful players.

Likewise the calibre and background of the manager we brought back. Like it or not he would not have been cheap.

  9. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

What would you all have expected if told after our last league cup defeat at Rugby Park we would return with a team including all of:

    Philips

    Scales

    Taylor

    Iwata

    Micky Johnson/Yang

    Oh

    Palma/James Forrest

    Says it all really.

  10. 3 centre backs,Scales,CCV, Lager or Nawrocki, 5 in MF – not Taylor- 2 up front,it needs a shake up

  11. Celtic FC needs young blood in executive positions. These old Torys fat around the middle, running things happy to pull a wage, while they indulge their palates on tasty dinners and wine. Succulent. The plebs can buy another astronomically priced jersey to soothe their dismay and discontent. Mmmmmm, dividends.

  12. I’d take Mckenna in a heartbeat in January…contract up in June….so cheapish out of picture at forest..possibly because of not signing new contract ? Or not offered one ?

Ticks a few boxes though…desperately need something

  13. We’ll know more next month but I wouldn’t rule out BR walking away next summer.

Jansen did it and so might BR.

If he’s not backed in January, I think he’ll go.

  14. Ten Haag and Pochettino will be available soon.

!0 million a year should be enough.

    Oh and Davy Moyes too!

Be careful what you wish for.

  15. Haven’t read back but will give my thoughts and read back and see what the consensus is.

Firstly we should pay some credit to Killie today – there work rate and around play was excellent and you couldn’t deny them a point or three as it happened. They must have been fed raw meat at the start of each half and we’ll have no more of this “Aberdeen only try against Rangers” pish – I’ve never seen Killie play like that against anyone in all my years watching Celtic. Of course they were help by cheating at every opportunity – constant fouling to break up play, standing in front of free kicks and corners to prevent quick play, stealing 10-15 yards on every throw in and 5-10 on every FK and getting FKs in dangerous areas every time they fell over. It really is a disease in Scottish football that this constant gamesmanship goes unpunished. It may be they all do it all the time but I only see it against us and it drives me nuts – one day a throw will be taken within 5 yards of where it went out of play…….

That apart Killies industry and press was super impressive and we could learn from that.

First half we were good and really should have been 2 or 3 up – played some great stuff and sharper finishing the game could have been done – the Oh miss was ridiculous and as much as I like his endeavour and he is improving that’s what you get in the market we are shopping.. Having said that we were lucky not to lose one at the other end albeit we were well on top throughout.

The second half we were second to everything and they closed us down at every turn – regrettably we did not have the quality to play through the press or to hold it up playing over it so it just kept coming back. You could see their goals coming and I don’t blame Phillips for either – perhaps he could have held the line a little longer for the 2nd but the guys supporting run from MF was impressive and not of our lot were near him. Similar to Oh you get what you pay for and our lack of physicality and strength showed in the second half – we were out run and outfought and and that is as a direct result of not buying well enough despite having a bank balance to die for and that ones on the board.

We are in a fight now and it’s time to step up – they will get every bit of support the authorities can give them so we will have to be better and then some. They will smell a chance and will spend if they think they have a sniff – we will have to blow them out the water in this window or this will become far closer than it ought too.

Last comment for the ref today. Apart from the stuff mentioned earlier the challenge on Yang today was outrageous. I’m not saying the guy was trying to hurt Yang but to say it was reckless and endangering and opponent is understatement of the year. It is a fact that in Rugby yes Rugby that would have been a straight red card and a likely additional bad – but the ref and VAR say not even a foul and a bounce ball to Killie is incredible. I watch the game with a mate that played rugby at a high level and he said that the All Blacks captain was sent off in the World Cup final for less. I shudder to think how bad that could have been. I trust Celtic will raise this with the authorities??

You have posted more after this defeat than all other posters combined.

My comments aren’t a knee-jerk reaction. I’m talking long-term systematic failure. If you remember the trouble started when Lawwell entered the building and told MON to feck off, there won’t be any more Suttons or Hartsons. The substantial resources and success of the MON era should have been multiplied exponentially by his successor.

We could have, no should have built a dynasty by now with the Huns imploding along the way. And the common factor all the while is the fabulous accountant overseeing all operations.

I reiterate- heads should roll at executive level.

It certainly looks like I will get my wish next season. A run in the europa league!

In the middle of your non stop critical anti Celtic posts there was one highlight during the week.

    A nice post about Tottenham.

Have a look at yersel or get help.

  23. Anyone believing that the failed 10 in a row season was a conspiracy to help the Ibrox mob and that the conspirators are at work again this season are kidding themselves on.

The dire football played in a number of games this season is purely down to BR and the complacency and project signing policy of this board. The smugness and complacency at the recent AGM was embarrassing.

The 5 games before the winter break have got to be won or this season could be a repeat of the covid 20/21 season. If we don’t win the League this season it won’t be because of a conspiracy, just down to a complete cxck up by manager and board. Just like the 20/21 season they’ll have

snatched defeat from a position of strength.

The reappointment makes no sense to me. I’d hoped when Desmond went out and got BR again that it was a signal of us moving up several gears in the transfer market.

That’s not the case nor do I expect it to change in January either.

My call right now is that Brendan will do a Wim in May/June.

I personally wouldn’t blame him. We’ve a league to win in the here and now. I can’t believe we’re in a title race with the one of the worst hun teams I’ve ever seen.

Absolutely spot on. In the next 3 weeks it’s possible that the wheels could come completely off.

Vital now that we focus and make sure we’re at least ahead going into the break.

We’ve some home games now but we know CP is not the place it use to be, on or off the pitch.

If Sevco won’t improve enough to make it an interesting title race , we’ll just have to go back a bit to meet them .
