how do you beat the mighty Celtic, play a big plodder up front and the Abbot and Costello at centre back will s***e themselves.

    ———–

it was a 1-1 draw. with the equaliser a penalty. we got a point.

  2. Ron…calm tf doon….today wiz a disaster…we escaped with a point… can we play as badly again this season…am not convinced we can afford to

  3. lets throw the baby out with the bath water, but some changes are needed. a bit worried with Niels demeanor throughout the game

  4. Blaming the players is the easy option. Buy new ones wouldn’t change it.

Big ugly physical forwards have been a feature forever and that pitch is a mess. The dryness and narrowing of the pitch were to cut down on our game and the inverted wingers of Moi and James meant they just ran into crowds of Killie players. Eddie was isolated and only until Paddy came on did we have a forward in the box.

They allowed the world’s worst Pirlo have the ball as he has no offensive game. Hios defensive game will be a whir of younger faster players passing him by leaving our centre halves exposed.

If I was Ollie Ntcham I’d put a transfer request tomorrow. How that midfield gets in front of him.

We need creative players – Roberts in his pomp, Sinclair in his pomp, Rogic in his Rodgers pomp. People with a bot of magic who can break a line. We have robots looking to give it to the captain behind or Eddie in front.

We must be easy to plan against.

And I’m frigging pissed at Griffiths for denying us a continuation of 2 up front. Klimala is not there yet.

I’m uncharacteristically worried if we get a Lenny stubborn streak.

Advantage rangers – they have the momentum. They have added quality and depth to their squad and so far look a good bet.

Quality? I watched them against the sheep and today against St Mirren up until we kicked off. They are no better than last season. Why are we constantly bigging this shower of pish up?

  6. AN DUN

That’s true but we had Klimala on the bench, Bayo who we are trying to punt and we are looking at an injury-prone 33 year old.

If a club Celtic’s size doesn’t have the personnel to play two up front, then we really need to question our recruitment.

  7. RON67 on 9TH AUGUST 2020 6:57 PM

where are yous all , you have not been listening , I have been telling you since they were signed.

    —————–

Aye, yir a fekn genius, how did I not notice before ?

  8. Thought Ajer coped much better with the big guy up front. Taylor worked hard. Barkas didn’t have a single effort to save. 10 men behind the ball on a plastic, short pitch was what beat us. Lenny should call it out for what it is. Boli playing left winger for last 5 mins provided more down left than the first 85.

Need a good win next game.

  9. Springhill Bhoy on

Two wing backs and Two wingers. Dont no any other club that plays with that system. Leaves us a stiker short.

Sheffield United have been effective this season with two wing backs. They dont play with wingers. Have Celtic got a defensive coach,if not why not

  10. prince of keepers on

Really poor, cant believe we couldn’t deal with how Killie set themselves up.

It always a game that makes you want to poke your eyes out down there on that surface, you can’t rely on last minute winners every time.

Slow the game down, break up play with fouls, take an age over restarts and defend with everyone within 30 yards of the goal. We had no creativity , never got in behind, no good crosses into the box and only 1 shot on target. Kept coming in to the middle of the park, and no one taking anyone on. The lack of football intelligence from players and coaching staff is baffling at times.

Our Centre Halves need to grow a pair, my God they make every physical striker look like Drogba in his pomp

Only consolation is it is Game 2 and not 32.

  11. VHMAN,

I thought the same about lack of support, could it impact us more than others, that crowd behind the goals urging them on to late winners, willing the ball into the net happens 4,5,6, times every season.

The green brigade noise and colour, the away support that really really supports,.

Having said all that, today was just one of those days.

  12. Agree with lots of what’s been said. We’re too slow in getting the ball forward and seem happy just passing from side to side with everyone looking for their mate to take responsibility and do something rather than do it themselves. Loathe to criticise Broonie but he was awful today and Julienne and Ajer need to toughen up. I feckin hate those plastic pitches and Alan Muir’s a horrible cheating hun **** to boot!

  13. prestonpans bhoys on

Thankfully my daughter arrived after 10 minutes with her new puppy🐕 so could only view the game partially.

Typical game at Killie, my quest for a decent game on plastic continues…………

  14. I think Father Time has caught up with Broony. He tried to take the bull by the horns (the only one who tried) late in the second half and ended up tripping over his own feet. When the oldest player in the team feels he has to do that you have to wonder what the hell is going on.

  15. glendalystonsils on

Last week we were a bit flat first half but picked up the pace in the second . This week we were very flat first half and couldn’t pick ourselves up second half . Our defensive pair also made the big Hamilton CF look more dangerous than he should have been just like we did with the Killie CF today. Difference was that we COULD play our football on our own pitch last week.

  16. Their big ugly forward did nothing in the 2nd half. Chris had one of those angry headbursts he gets when he didn’t get the throw-in and lost it for a moment.

2 up front in close proximity. Hopefully from next week that is Ajeti and Eddie.

A middle fluid 3 of callum (6), christie (8) and Ntcham (10) or Moi (10) moving the ball quicker.

2 wingers hugging the touchline if needs be (we don’t have 1 left sided on currently).

    play in their box….

  17. remember this, I am sure some do. as I keep repeating, get some perspective, look how many celtic winners were in that rodgers team that lost at kilmarnock

    6 in the league, SIXTH.

    2018-09-23: Kilmarnock 2-1 Celtic, SPL

    Trivia

Celtic lose for second time this season in the league, Sevco go 1pt in front of Celtic. Hearts are 6pts in front of Celtic on top of the league. Celtic down to sixth.

Benkovic injured in warm up so Hendry starts, and his supposed jinx with the first team continues.

League Cup in midweek to help reboot things.

    Lot of criticism coming up.

Brendan Rodgers has acknowledged the “heat” is on his Celtic side following a defeat at Kilmarnock yesterday that condemned the club to their worst start to a league season in two decades.

Celtic’s worst start to the league for 20years.

    Kilmarnock won in injury time.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Red Star Belgrade forward Milan Pavkov, after Hoops scouts took in the

Serbian side’s Champions League clash with Napoli last week.

Celtic have pulled out of a deal to sign Canadian defender Emile Legault.

Sport Bild paper (Germany) bills Rodgers as loser of the week: “The 45-year-old was trainer at Liverpool FC before

Jurgen Klopp. At Glasgow Celtic he is now responsible for the worst start to a season in 20 years with ten points out of six games.”

Celtic fans should be “alarmed” by the side’s worst start to a league season for 20 years: Brendan Rodgers

Too many players in their comfort zone, so much for a big squad.

Lack of ideas on and off the pitch

  19. 31003 on 9TH AUGUST 2020 7:21 PM

I think Father Time has caught up with Broony. He tried to take the bull by the horns (the only one who tried) late in the second half and ended up tripping over his own feet. When the oldest player in the team feels he has to do that you have to wonder what the hell is going on.

Even before today all the facts pointed to that. He’s racing towards his 36th birthday. His body is too slow to be a DM and he offers nothing footballing wise going forward. You could see Killie were happy for him to have possession. Only stubborness and cognitive dissonance amongst our support allow it to be a taboo subject. I hope it doesn’t cause us too much harm this year.

  20. Ajer and Julien for some reason always try to win the first ball. Against the big players they need to stand off, hold off and wait for the cavalry. The pen we gave away was just school level. We don’t have to be particularly good at the back to shut out teams like Killie, we just need to do the basics. Today we didn’t.

  21. fairhill bhoy on

Poor to watch, but well played killie

Jullien is never going to be a commanding CH

He is not the answer and it’s been played out to often now

You can’t sight Kille’s tactics for our poor performance. That’s not an extrinsic factor like a pitch or a referee (who I thought was average but not particularly bad today). It’s a fundamental of the game.

  23. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Celtic’s keeper did not have a save to make.

Folk ranting about the defence are missing the point: the Killie keeper did not have a save to make.

    No Eddie. No show.

    His supporting cast went AWOL.

  24. what have I said about our defence recently? It’s our achiles heel.

CJ is too casual @ the back, & Aijer is not the answer either.

If you look @ today’s match stats, we had an overall 70% of the

pocession, in the match, however we only had three atempts @

their goal, inside their eighteen yard box, the rest was from outside.

which is poor. Also our tactics was wrong too, why do we not go with

3-5-2 instead of 4-2-3-1 no good.

Lenny said after the match, their was not enough penitration, &

patience I know Lenny, & not enough quality service either.

Kilmarnock to their credit, made it difficult for us, to break them

down. Lenny is right, Rugby Park is a difficult venue, it’s not exactly

a give me, an easy three points venue that is for sure, as past results

there, prove that point. If the Board ever care to look @ these comments.

Forget about Fletcher, he is too old, & also too injury prone, no good.

& Also forget about Ajeti we do not need another so called Striker when

we already have nonchalant Eddy, Leigh – G, & Kamalla up front.

Also Lenny, I would like to see young Dembelly, & Lucas-C, & Ewan

Henderson, given more of a chance. We as a Club, have enough

outfield players as it is. Our top priority, should be strengthening our

Defence, to have competition for places @ the back, cause players

become complacent, & it also keeps them on their toes, which is a

    fact.

    Big Wavy

    Agreed.

We will miss his presence though. It counts for a lot

Agree with that mate but an alternative is required now. Downsides far outweighing the upsides.

  26. SAINT STIVS on 9TH AUGUST 2020 7:04 PM

put the result to one side it was the performance that’s the major issue especially the centre backs continued woeful defensive predictable effort against a plodder

  27. Terrible, narrowed, dry plastic pitch.

Suits the less able with high hopeful punts and disciplined defence. They only have to clear, we have to create.

A big, willing front man also helps.

The situation was set up for Kilmarnock’s advantage. Which is allowed.

So what? We have to deal with it. We didn’t.

My take? We never needed a back four. 3 at the back always, unless the unlikely scenario of them playing 3 up front.

    We move on.

Btw CQN becoming almost unusable to me. Every time I log on it takes me to a post , at least over an hour previous. Not quick news.

Nonsense – our possession, lack of creativity and setup cost us much more.

  31. Kilmarnock’s tactics today was to put eleven men behind the ball in other words

they mainly parked their team coach in their eighteen yard box & hit us on the

break with us being sloppy with the ball in the final third & giving it away too

easly & exposing ourselves @ the back another tactical problem which needs
