I sincerely hope we have appropriate targets of the right quality lined up and are simply being patient about getting things right . Succession planning for Broony’s decline (if that’s what it is) , making sure we don’t blow the chance to make history and maybe even trying to take some steps towards restoring our credibility in Europe. That’s not a reaction to today’s result , it’s just something the board have a duty to address.

The Hamilton result good though it was , still featured a drab first half , just as today was a drab 90 minutes.

This is not the season to leave anything to chance.

  2. Kilmarnock done what they had to against Celtic,it’s not the pitch or the refs fault,we weren’t at the races simple as that ,also Lennon needs to remind a few off the first team players ,that just turning up for a game ,doesn’t guarantee them a start ,say what you like about Andy Walker ,but this afternoon he was spot on about a few Celtic Players not handling opposition players,no we need to look at our defenders,Julien and Ajar can’t handle big rough and tumble forwards,as for Taylor couple off good crosses but that’s about that ,Boli replaced him with a few good crosses which he is good at ,I think he just needs the coaches to put there arms around him and give him a bit off confidence in himself, and Hopefully he will come good .

  3. Somebody please give Ron67 a like or a thumbs up- whatever it is that millenials are seeking when they post!

Last week we were fluid, inventive and further on in our preparation than we had a right to expect after a short pre-season.

To-day we were very poor and some are awarding it the “worst game ever” verdict- an accolade awarded on at least 5 ocasions, every season, since i was a boy.

Were the people who were right last week, right?

Or were the people who were right this week, right?

Or is it all just more lighthouse thinking.

The answer is, for anyone whose ears are still open,- “it is far too early to tell”.

We blinked first and that will encourage the ibrox mob, but anybody with a backbone knows that it does not end here and that no pattern has been set yet.

We get a chance to climb back on the horse again on Wednesday, with an away fixture in Paisley. I expect them to be just as defensive and frustrating but it will be , at least, on grass.

Anybody that wants to call out a non towel-throwing post as being typical clique, complacent or blind to our faults can just bile your heid and then find a way to cool down and strap in for the ride. We are 2 games into a 38 game season, if it gets that far.

I know why you are anxious, because 10iar is such a big prize, but really, if you cannot cope with dropped points, poor performances and bizarre individual errors like Big Julie’s pen today, then you should consider a course in meditation.

I saw the same game as you; we were crap today. Even the three I nominated for Jobo’s POTY were pretty poor. And, you all know it, we will be poor again and not just once. We will be mediocre and win and we will play well and lose. That’s football- we were never good in all games and we never won all games- not even with 2 up front- I remember Brendan playing Eddy & Griff up front at Rugby Park and , guess what, we never got 3 points.

Nothing much matters other than we remain in the league race until such times as our performance wins it for us. We do not have to win every game and we do not need to lead the league each week. This league will not be won or lost in August; it won’t even be won or lost by Xmas- just ask Stevie G!

Alas, 3-5-2 is not practical at the moment because the the wee, jaky ned from Leith (who rips £15-£20k a week from our pockets), can’t get his arse in gear is not an option.

Not to worry, he’s a ‘fans favourite’.

    (Apologies to the PC brigade).

3-5-2 is always pratical in domestic football, & that’s a fact.

& Leigh Griffiths can still score goals, & knows where the Goal Frame Is,

    that is another fact.

Another fact, is that there is so called pretentious Celtic fans out there, who want to see

the back of Leigh Griffiths, pronto, that is another fact.

Get LG back in the fold asap, that is a no brainer.

1 New centre half required pronto.

2 Narrow pitch and ten men behind the ball needs some ability to thread a pass through to Eddie.

  6. If it is true that we can best judge people in adversity, then a few on here would not come out of that assessment too well.

  7. lighthouse thinking with added lost at sea rockets.

some comments on LG are digraceful, absolutely sickening.

  8. THE BLOGGER FORMERLY KNOWN AS GM on 9TH AUGUST 2020 8:53 PM

Oh please, a club ‘our size can’t afford to pay £15/20 grand a week to chancers.

What are you talking about, a chancer.

Along with nonchalant Eddie, LG is one of our top goal scorers, when he gets a

    chance to play.

  9. Think we should bring Bryson DeChambeau in at CB

You wouldn’t be able to push him off the ball.

no need for any accolades , I can easily cope with dropped points at any time of the season but to see the same defensive players continually do the same thing when up against a plodder then something is not right.

we defend properly no penalty we win.

  11. OK,over the initial disgust, long, long season to go,and we have had setbacks before. The thing I am taking from this game,is I promise never to watch Celtic on a plastic pitch, ever again. It is torture.Hamilton,Livi,Kilmarnock, does not matter.Like Root Canal work.Anyone remember ever,a good one.

    Never again for me.

  12. glendalystonsils on

Jullien was virtually on the byline, goalside of the CF with Scott Brown infield for support . To let man and ball past him that close to the line just leaves me scratching my head.

  13. We could have made another 2 substitutions, but no put your centre half up front and don’t throw high balls into him.

    What is going on tactically.

  14. The thing is Ron, they don’t continually do the same thing against plodders.

The routine picture, the mean , medium and mode, is that we beat the plodders and have done for 20 odd years now.

The exceptions are what you refer to.

We lost 2 and drew 2 last season

The year before it was 5 and 6

    Before that 4 and 10

    years before were 0 and 4, 4 and 8 and 4 and 4.

    We routinely win 26, 27, 24, 34, 26 and 25 over the course of a season.

For most posters, those winning games are the highlights and the memories.

Others wallow in the dropped points.

10 years since we lost a league due to too many dropped points

I totally agree with you Glen Daly’s Tonsils.

Wee Broony’s Legs, have given up the chase, mind you he has done well to reach that point @

thirty six years old which is still a young man however it’s an old man’s age in the world of

professional football although I still think Broony can do a job for us used sparringly in

other words horses for courses & also for his service to our Club he should be backed up

for going for his coaching badges. So who should we give the Captaincy’s Arm Band Too?

James Forrest, who even has more years @ our Club, than Broony. Or should we give it to

    Callum McGregor?

& you are spot on Glen Daly’s Tonsils, as regards to our performance today.

It is galling that Harrogate Town have to tear up their pitch in order to be allowed into League Two in England while we let 3 teams play on plastic, devaluing the spectalce of our game. One and a half games out of 6, each week played on a surface, that predictably produces a poor spectacle, even when we win.

  18. No hindsight from ,but I did say on last blog at 12.58,that I have never seen Broony playing well on plastic.

Would not play Frimpong,El Hamed to make up the back 3.

  19. SITES,

Totally agree.I am serious,I cannot watch that anymore.Too much love for this team,to see them reduced to rubbish like that, and its every game on the plastic. The surface is an abomination, and no matter what anyone says,it gives the home team a big advantage.Into the bargain they can lengthen, narrow the pitch, and not water it.No excuses for today, but as a spectacle for paying fans, its a disgrace.

“further on in our preparation than we had a right to expect after a short pre-season.” Really? We had no right to expect to hit Hamilton for a few goals? What about Hamilton’s short pre season- that might balance it out?

We were poor in the first half against Hamilton and then came out of the blocks in the 2nd half, hitting them with two quick goals- game over. Still, we have played 2 competitive games and it’s fair comment to say that we have played only one good half of football- the 2nd half against Hamilton.

I agree with the platitudes in your post: we will win, lose and draw this year, much like years before and years to come. The league was not lost today, nor would it have been won if Sevco dropped points. Nonetheless, it has to be recognised that much like last year, the league could be called early, so best not to be behind at any point; we have blinked first- pressure on us.

It is completely fair comment following the result today to ask questions about our formation and our tactics, discuss our captain’s worrying performance and discuss our squad depth in general. Neil had the option of 5 subs, he only made 2 up to the 80th minute and in the end 2 of those brought on were full backs. These are points worth discussing.

The fact that today is probably the first, but likely not the last draw and that defeats will come in time is axiomatic, but it can’t just be thrown out there to extinguish discussion.

November’s (2019) AGM where are you getting that false info from?

places that sell a good fish supper? Please don’t say Southend, it cost’s £15

If top flight teams cannot afford to lay and maintain grass pitches , surely for the good of our game the SPFL/SFA could help? I know there’s not a lot of money around but something needs to be done otherwise our football will always be looked on as second rate.

we have to score more than the opposition to be awarded 3 pts , if our centre backs continue to give away cheap penalties due to poor amateur defending then we have a problem , oh and by the way I know the stats so no need to highlight them for my benefit.
