I believe Damien gave that interview back in Ireland after he left. He owed us nothing- he did not have to big up anybody. But why let an informed insider opinion get in the way of your judgement :-)

    Rolling Stone

We were not poor in the first half vs Hamilton- we were at it from the start and got the results in the 2nd half.

I cannot see any league beign called early before, at least 22 fixtures are fulfilled. It would be a luaghing stock if it was and Scottish Football cannot afford any more embarrassments.

Finally, and feeling like Nicola Sturgeon repeating herself, I have no desire to stifle discussion. My aim was to temper the criticism and keep it grounded. Glad you agree even though I expressed it platitudinously :-)

It is galling that Harrogate Town have to tear up their pitch in order to be allowed into League Two in England while we let 3 teams play on plastic, devaluing the spectalce of our game. One and a half games out of 6, each week played on a surface, that predictably produces a poor spectacle, even when we win.

Yeah, that is what we as a Club, have to put up with, while playing in Scottish Football.

& the reason is financial, put it this way, Clubs like Kilmarnock, Livingston, & Hamilton.

Do not have to change their playing fields, @ the end of each Season, that is why the

    SFA allow it.

From chairman after accounts in September for 2018/19 season ( does not include St sales for following season )

The Scottish champions’ financial results, for the year ending 30 June 2019, show a pre-tax profit of £11.3m, down from £17.3m the previous year.

Celtic have £38.9m in the bank, and the £17.7m player sales does not include Kieran Tierney’s £25m move to Arsenal.

Chairman Ian Bankier described the results as “satisfactory”.

It was mentioned on CQN by experienced bludgers that there must be a plan for the huge cash reserves

    Stop pulling wool over eyes

We have the cash but won’t spent it

“I know the stats so no need to highlight them for my benefit.”

    —————————————————–

I think there may be a need. Earlier you stated that:-

“I can easily cope with dropped points at any time of the season but to see the same defensive players continually do the same thing when up against a plodder then something is not right.

I was pointing out that these mistakes and error strewn performances are not the norm. I would not go as far as to say they are the exception but my stats showed that they are not the norm you imagine them to be.

    Off to watch a fillum

The three best players on the park today were Power, Dicker and Kimbaba.

I know DeniaBhoy, & a big boot up the back sides, of our Club’s players, with

their SPL Round Two Match Report Cards Readings, “Must Do Better”

  8. AKBW1888

Which basically puts our game below English Division 2

My daughter played for a pro womens team and has played on almost all the plastic pitches.

Her opinion – they are all pretty much unplayable.

Todays game was a classic plastic match.

No wonder the crowd was so small…………….

  9. So in QR2 if all goes to seeding we could play Cluj, Ferencvaros or Slovan Bratislava.

Think we would be very happy with a home draw as those ties away are by no means easy

  10. AN DUN on 9TH AUGUST 2020 9:49 PM

I don’t fancy any of our possible Q2 opponents away from home.

An Dun, the seeded Teams are @ Home.

I see that the Hun Media Group, got it wrong again.

They had us down, for playing seeded Team

    KR Reykjavík (ISL) Fanny’s.

  11. £60m in the bank you say have you hacked the Celtic account? Your source for this figure> does it include the £25m Arsenal have supposedly paid in full? When did they pay it ? Thanks Hebcelt

so maybe I just imagine julien consistently gets rag dolled playing against a plodder.

  13. Lost out in CL 3 years out of last 5 to clubs on a fraction of our income due to poor planning/ investment on our side

If it becomes 4 out of 6 failures to earn huge sums , will CEO fall ?

  14. We had over 60 minutes from their equaliser – a preventable goal – yes – our response was very disappointing

Yeah No Crowd due to Covid19

There was some numpties who where Kilmarnock Fans underneath where Sly’s TV

& Sound Micraphones where you could here them swearing underneath the mics

& cheering on their Team so how did they get in?

  16. Well that was a load of pish.

In my book not 1 Celtic player got pass Mark’s….utter pish.. then again a Ref that was happy to let…..uch you know the rest, point is we have to be much better than 11 players and the officials.

    We move onto St Mirren.

Ps our bench did not fill me with excitement either.

    D :)

  17. It’s bleak tonight bhoys.

Regardless of the dropped points I think the actual performance was the real shocker today.

However perhaps a right good early wake up call will be the best thing for this team.

I doubt Lenny was anything like as calm and pragmatic about the match in his post match interview as he really was with his team.

Ruthless team selections might have to be made to make sure we do not offer that up again this season.

Lenny found the perfect formula in the second half of last season and I back him to do so again.

I am not the biggest cheerleader for Ncham like some but at least when he came on he ‘tried’ to create.Tried to be progressive in his 10 minute cameo.

Sorry but in matches like today playing Scott Brown really does nothing but weaken the midfield.

He still has a time and a place.

He could still be a great player for us this season in certain matches.

But when the opposition has zero desire to attack we need creativity and pace to break them down.

    p.s

Scott Brown was by no means our worst player today and I love everything he has done for us.

  20. Let’s be clear

Peter lawell has not backed Neil Lennon in one of our most important seasons

It is not what peter does. He has always been a cost cutting accountant His whole career

He has never in his career invested to improve a business

  21. SETTING FREE THE BEARS

Your posts are informative, well balanced and articulate. You end with “10 years since we lost a league due to too many dropped points.”

Very true, but as financial brokers have possibly advised you – “Past results are no guarantee of future performance.”

Warning lights are flashing. When Defoe went down injured, Sevco acted swiftly and decisively to fill the gap with 2 strikers. Out of 9 subs, we had one striker on the bench today and only one on the field. Meanwhile, we seem to be interminably haggling with a League 1 team, a player on holiday in Sardinia who has hardly kicked a ball in 8 months, and a 33 year old with no Club. This is hardly inspirational and verging on negligence, as either Eddie or Klimala could be injured tomorrow. That is just one position.

Our defensive and midfield frailties are manifest, and there are no sign of any acquisitions to go immediately into the team. Remember that Sevco overran our midfield in 2 games last season. For those who argue we have until October 5, my response would be “Why wait, risk losing points, and getting drubbed out of the Champions League?”

We are obviously uncomfortable on plastic, but never alter our tactics to cope. I think our entire team went out on the field today with the blasé attitude “10 years since we lost a league” as evidenced by the patent lack of commitment or even communication on the field.

All empires full of hubris fall, and we are complacently sleepwalking, assuming that Sevco will fall on their their faces again. Remember what I said about “Past results are…………………?”

If we can not get past any of the unseeded teams in that Group

then we do not deserve to be playing European Football end of.

& Sydney Tim you are right, we have all that money in a non

profit paying Bank A/c with no intention of spending it is an

    embarassment

It is not what peter does. He has always been a cost cutting accountant His whole career

He has never in his career invested to improve a business.

I know he has never heard the saying speculate to accumulate.

What a card is Peter Lawwell, he must have assended from the family tree of

Scrooge the miser don’t worry I can see some nightmare dreams heading

PL way, ffs Peter, one does not take it with them when one passes away.

Spare that thought in mind, us the natives are becoming restless. Our

Club is crying out for investment on the playing staff, get the propper

research done & invest & ffs don’t always rest in ones laurals.

  24. Peter lawell is not a Scrooge

It’s just the way he runs business in an autocratic cost cutting way

    Wrong CEO at this time

    Right CEO in 2003

  25. We’re disappointed we didn’t come away with 3 Points at Rugby Park, not my words, but Neil Lennons ,While I was watching it on the T V he was there ,he must be joking ,tell me how many chances did our team create to go and win the game, you can’t have both ways Lenny ,first he doesn’t blame Julien for giving them a penalty, when clearly he pulls the Killie player to give them the equaliser, shocking defending on his part ,and not for the first time either, nope Lennys to feart to criticise some players in case they down tools and scupper 10 in a row.

    Right CEO in 2003.

Fair & True observation Sydney Tim, we need not just a new CEO with Vision

but also a shake up in the BoardRoom new Faces with knowledgeable

Buisness Accumen that will take our Club foweard not back the way.

Being an Equalibrium (letting things stay the same) is not a sensible

solution it’s time we have a change in how our Club is opperated

  27. Hebcelt. What you trying to say ?

Every year for last 3 years our cash reserves have gone up

This time last year on CQN a very good discussion on our reserves , what was plan ? Hotel. Big players for ten in a row

One of the items battered bunnet said we had a lack of experience in sourcing good talent

Now are you saying the 60m has gone ??

Where ? As the cash reserves where not needed in last few years in running costs.

Addidas contract. Sold out season tickets

No police cost of staff salaries for match days

Players let go who were on good money

We have the money Stop the PL spin mate

  28. AKBEW1888

The Celtic board has only one or two full time paid employees

It is there as legal requirement

    PL takes charge of all

  29. Timbhoy Two, yeah the players have too much clout nowadays.

Also, it’s a disgrace that players @ present are not allowed to see

their close family members @ their Homes.

It’s no fun @ present having to go to work Training then living

in self isolation will not motivate people in fact it will have the

    opposite effect
