Good evening all from a party in the Victoria Bar. Well done my wonderful Glasgow Celtic 👏.

Next batch of incompetent officials being cooked up in the ladies game.

    Absolutely ridiculous offside against Celtic.

    Short trundle pass.

    Line of sight clear.

Glasgow City player two yards behind Celtic player.

Didn’t see the game today, but caught most of it on the tranny (are you still allowed to use that word?).

Very good result. Only because of its unfamiliarity I was a little concerned with the line up so great to see the guys who usually start step up. Sign of a great squad.

I see from the post match interview that McInnes wants a Kilmarnock team “that can beat Celtic”.

Here’s me thinking he’d want a team that can beat the “Old Firm”🤔

He really comes across as a bitter, bitter man. Hopefully they go straight back down never to be seen again.

  6. i just noticed the ladies game is on bbc alba.

cant be that often that glasgow city lose this many goals.

Aye will be gone soon and no mention of ‘old firm’ price tickets too, standards dropping 🤷

  9. With the unveiling of the maley statue i spent sometime going back into various links to remind myslef again of Maleys family story. I was also intrigued about Newry, and beyond the celtic supporters affection, what is the general sentiment around the area towards the famous family ?

Being a near border town, I dont know much about it, but was interested that the orange halls have been subject to vandalism often, I wondered how they feel about the statue, and indeed where in the town is it situated.

Further look at the demographics it is 90% nationalist, so I dont think we have any problem really.

Maley himself i think by now needs a dedicated book , maybe mr mccallum could do that as his next project. The son of a militray man, Maley for me was a quintissential Irish Edwardian Catholic, , he didnt mind the class system, or the honours system or the military pagentary, or training regimes, but also belonged to the home rule societies and sympathised on redmonds cause, but not outright repubicanism.

His father Thomas aged 17, joined the British army in 1847, at the worst of the famine, I need to assume like hundreds of thousands of irish , taking the shilling to escape the conditions, he became a career soldier.

That in a most famour incident he let Pat Walsh escape from the quayside, and the two met kept in contact ever after, Pat inviting the family to glasgow upos toms dicharge from the service.

Was the father more a reble than any of his bhoys ?

All in, beyond the sports connections, the family intrigues me more and more.

An interesting excerpt from a famine report by the District Inspector for Ennis, Co. Clare in January 1847. This was just two weeks after Willie Maley’s father joined the Army as a 17 yr old boy. It describes graphically the conditions at and around his home town of Ennis.

  12. I think we are in danger of taking our team for granted.

After half an hour, I`m sure many of us were wondering just how many we would eventually score. That we didn`t score any more after that, led to the assessment that we were a tad poor for an hour. Our players are human beings first and footballers second.

They are the best bunch of footballers in Scotland.

    Appreciate them Bhoys.

Time for Sportscene and wondering how effusive in their praise they will be.

    Not :-))

    What an arsehole.

TIMMY7, reading back, that is not a really helpful post!

Now, consider it from my point of view. Who or what is the arsehole? Are we talking about a person, a group, an affiliation? A former poster? A present poster? A manager of a Scottish football club? A TV, radio or newspaper pundit? A whole rectum from the BBC? A representative of another mob in Glasgow football?

    My choices are multitudinous!

I’m sorry. I’m going to have to have another glass of wine while I await your elucidation.

The contented very rarely criticise …

The “noise” will come from some who even after a 1-4 away victory then complain about not being as good in the 2nd half as we were in the 1st half … thankfully Ange & players will not care a jot

Me … delighted 3pts .. 4 goals … a few right good performances and a few young bhoys get on the park

    All good 🍀

Just looking at videos, I believe the statue is situated on the Camlough Road near Derrybeg. There are several hungerstriker memorials on and near this road, needless to say, I think it’s safe.

  18. Speaking to the BBC, Postecoglou was asked about the mistake from McGregor, he said: “He’s allowed one error a career, mate.”

  19. The overall impression I took from Sportscene was that Celtic didn`t win 4-1 because we were good. It was because Kilmarnock were bad !

They did, of course, give us some compliments but that was MY take on their analysis.

I wonder what they will say about Sevco`s victory ?
