  1. Here we go with the bring in Dane Murray calls. Really. He has filled to convince in any game so far and would not be a risk worth taking, unless there is no other option.

  2. Dexter P. Bampot on

Yang has done well to come back from the Matondo equaliser at Ibrox 2 years back but today he gave up for their second. Just not on.

  3. TBH bhoys my in inner feelings say, i think after todays performance the league will not be ours.. a great win but alas a poor game….

However outer feelings ..’mon the hoops lets do this! GIRFUT

  4. Still too many on here with lumping Scales in with every Trusty error. Look at the actual stats of how Celtic fans have been voting all season. He is voted as one of our best players throughout the season by hundreds of fans on performance levels alone. Why would they do that. Nancy wouldn’t play him so he can’t be blamed for that debacle

  5. Cannot for the life of me understand, why bombscares Scales and Trusty, couldn’t do with Stephen Welsh breathing down their necks for a starting berth.

That’s on MON et al, I know nothing!

Thanks again to Saint Walfrid for yesterday’s helpful intercessions. More prayers offered for all those whom put their family and God first foremost, in thought and deed.

    Ave Ave

  6. Any defence which has a midfield full of giant holes playing in front of it will look seriously suspect.

Remember when our Manager Neil Lennon put a midfield shield in front of, Efe Ambrose, and Kelvin Wilson, enabling them to shut out Messi led Barcelona.

    In 2012.

    Good morning CQN

Another fine day to be a Celt

    Phew

Many of us here coveted “any kind of win” at Rugby Park.

    We got it.

Martin and his coaching team are still clearly trying to get the best out of the group.

Tough gig which they are doing very well.

Several keys to winning the league IMHO

Gradually becoming a tighter unit through working and training together and increasingly trusting your team mate,

    collective belief, avoidance of injuries,

increased sharpness of Ox, Cvancara, Junior

PLUS our top players stepping up

(they don’t all have to at one time, but one of them does every match)

Early-mid Jan, I took a guess we’d have a sense of our league prospects on the evening of 15 February.

First of, it’s incredible quickly time flies.

As for prospects, we’re right in it.

As of last night … the two teams who have dropped fewest points in the league?

    Hearts and Celtic

    Final point if I may.

The contribution of the fans is vital.

We might win if we are united.

We won’t if we are not.

Asking for us to support the team during games to the exclusion of all other noise is the easier part.

Watch out for the psychological warfare in the media.

They are capable only of visualising a procession to the title for their beloved.

Celtic, irritatingly and VERY worryingly, are in the mix.

    Hence the ramp up …

… the latest instance of which is us edging, squeezing, lucking past Kilmarnock while their victory over Hearts was “seismic”

(Yes, that adjective was actually used).

    Keep The Faith

    Have a good day all.

  8. Unity Wilson needs to get the GB back in this week. Every game we play will be a slog. I don’t think we’ll win the league but we need a rocking support to have a chance. The fact that we don’t have an alternative to Trusty and Scales is outrageous. Both are capable of good performances in a backs to the wall game but neither should be a first pick in a decent Celtic team. Hatate a man down and Maeda half a man down, reducing our squad options. Hopefully, Engels back soon

  9. Could we play junior and big Tam together. If so, what would our formation be, just the one winger? We used to often have Davie Proven as the only winger.

  10. Good morning all. Didn’t see any of the game yesterday due to a family day out. Went into the theatre when we were down by two and when we came out we had won. Flippin heck, thought the league was well and truly over. Reading back it sounded like we were once again pretty poor, team selection a head scratcher. Reo not winning any new fans.

Anyway, I enjoy dipping in and out of the FF forum looking for things to laugh at. Occasionally see a thread that is actually interesting. What I post here has not been fact checked by me but seems to have been by others.

Hearts are obviously still top, but if you are looking at, how many points each time have won since 5, 10, 15. 20 and 25 games ago, the league positions show an interesting picture:

    From FF:

It’s pretty incredible they’re still top given their form over the last 20 games.

You have to go back 25 games to when Hearts were higher than 4th in the form tables.

    Last 5 games 5th.

    Last 10 games 4th.

    Last 15 games 4th.

    Last 20 games 4th.

    Last 25 games 2nd.

Fair play if they’re still in contention going into the split, but the recent form stats albeit disregarding their start to the season isn’t brilliant.

FWIW, Rangers’ form this season is intriguing..

    Last 5 games 2nd (Celtic 1st)

    Last 10 games 1st

    Last 15 games 1st

    Last 20 games 1st

    Last 25 games 1st

Hearts only stay on top when you add the first couple of games into the mix. If their form continues like this. they will finish 3rd or 4th.

Ifs and buts, interesting nonetheless considering the awful performances and results under Martin and Celtic’s Nancy debacle.

  11. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

    Interesting stats, indeed.

I said yesterday that I hope Hertz can hang around at the top of the table. It would be ideal if their post-split home game against the huns was a “must win” to stay in with a chance. If they’re out of it by then I can see a gift of 3 points and a few goals forthcoming.

  12. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

    Just watched the highlights again.

Anyone else notice Billy Dodds’ face at the end of the game?

    Priceless.

  13. PeterLatchfordsBelly on

    Deniabboy

Confirms the general sense of recent form. The huns are the big threat and have got momentum. Hertz are in retreat. Motherwell fancied themselves. They were going for it on Wed with 10 men. They’re better than the huns.

We are poor at game control but have the edge on the others in moments of quality. We need to get the Ox fit enough to past 90 mins pronto as midfield is our weak link. Hatate is now a disgrace. Not our fault his inflated sense of himself hasn’t been borne out in quality offers. He didn’t even join the team to thank the fans yesterday. Prick.

Take the Nancy debacle out and we’d be skooshing this league. Net of Nancy we’ve won 15 drawn 3 and lost 2. Despite playing terribly. Well done Micky, what an appointment 👍.

    Deniabhoy @ 08:40am – cheers.

Looking at the data from FF you shared, the old Disraeli quote springs to mind.

    Statistically accurate …

… And a comfort blanket to the blue masses

The “last 25 games form” is a belter.

    Desperate stuff.

Celtic have only played 26 league games !

We won our first game and they didn’t.

And when has anyone, any where, any time

… EVER plucked the last 25 games form

    (two-thirds of a season)

.. to indicate or inform prospects for the remaining 11 or 12 fixtures?

    It’s always last 5, 6 or (at a stretch) 10

The stat that indicates or informs the most?

    Last 5 games.

    They are second.

The “other team” (©️ Danny Rohl) are 1st.

  15. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

BTB – it confirms the adage, ‘if you torture data long enough it will eventually tell you what you want to hear’.

I think the data on Hertz was more revealing – they actually aren’t a great team and were bound to crack.

As I said above, I hope they can hold it together for a few more games.

  16. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

GM @ 10:47am – with you all the way.

Your use of the verb “torture” is entirely appropriate.

The guy providing the comfort blanket has presented 5 different pieces of data off the back of a single truth

Hearts have been quite good all season.

A PPG line graph going back to match day 1 would be instructive.

Other than a couple of small dips, I reckon Hearts would be a pretty flat, constant ~2 points per

R2ngers would be more volatile with a terrible start followed by an upward trajectory to mid 2s PPG under Rohls.

Ours would be a roller coaster.

Flat and steady under Brendan at ~1.8 PPG

Followed by a decent bounce at Martin 1

Followed by a huge drop off under Wilfried

    (1.0 PPG exactly)

Followed by (considering the back drop) a truly amazing bounce up to very high 2s PPG under Martin 2

(That pesky “last 5” the FF guy tried to hide among the other guff)

Armed Forces Day. German Manager. German Coaching Staff. Makes Sense. por cierto

So weird. I thought American owners would be keen to change the dial on the neo-Fascist, superiorist militarism of that rancid club. I think at first they were. Maybe realised that the club has only one identity and they need to pander to it with all this military stuff, orange strips etc.

Really sad, and it says something about a very large section of the Scottish population that their borderline racist nativism is so entrenched. It also helps explain why they have the MIBs and SMSM onside. Their toxicity is not just tolerated, it’s indulged.

I really want us to win this league…
