King, the other Big House, contingency planning

256

Proceedings against Dave King for Contempt of Court begin on Friday at the Court of Session.  In March, King was ordered to offer £11m for shares not already owned by his concert party, no later than 26 April.  Nearly three months later, that instruction has not been complied with.

Well in advance of the Court decision to force King to comply with the Takeover Panel instruction to offer to buy non-concert party shares, King would have been advised what requirements he would need to comply with, if he lost.  Prudent contingency planning would have averted this Contempt hearing.  But you know King.  He sat on the Rangers board which made no contingency plans to allow it to continue to trading through HMRC’s case against the club.  The consequences of that were so severe it went into liquidation BEFORE it lost the case!!

Indeed, before starting a takeover bid for Newco, King would have been well advised to have the money in place to underwrite the project.  Remember, he once suggested a £50m would be needed, this is ‘only’ £11m.  If he cannot lodge this £11m he has no chance of making good money to build the team.

During the takeover Panel’s case against King last year, King’s QC told the court “Any order wouldn’t secure compliance”.  Quite an insightful prediction.

If found guilty, these proceedings could see King reside for a while in Glasgow’s other ‘Big House’.  Even if that happens, it will be a mere blip on the ‘journey’, prepare to read that is is a ‘favourable settlement’.  The question to keep your eye on, is who will pay the bills after the season ticket money runs out?  Never mind, there will be orange strips, reduced ticket allocation to Celtic, angry statements about the SPFL and SFA, so they must be good guys.

Parks Buses, it’s a old chestnut, but sad to say Celtic still hire there Buses,I have always said if the shoe was on the other foot ,if Celtic was skint,no way would Park, loan one of his buses to us.Celtic Football Club should have there own Bus, Someone posted that I should stop acting like a Him,but I just said my opinions on things that happen inside and outside, the Stadium, that’s all,no malice in my part, but I’m good for a lot of responses, you can’t take that away from me.

  11. Please allow me to say,I really enjoy this blog,I have since its inception,I haven’t posted for quite some time but,I continue to both read, and often take the side of CQN,however,I have to admit to a feeling of deja vu,between here,PMCG,and JJ sites.have been reading of kings imminent incarceration or expulsion for what seems like an absolute AGE yet,he remainsat large, and at the helm of Scotland’s newest club, let me stress, his leadership of sevco has been an unmitigated pleasure to watch, every single time I think they can get no worse, this guy finds an entertaining and novel way to prove me wrong, long may it continue, the original institution ceased to exist in 2012,one of the happiest days of my 60 year old life, just don’t think it could happen again,he will slip out from under and carry on,that makes me happy.

I announced a close season sabbatical, as without football, I felt the blog was losing the run of itself.

Bickering, nit picking and the bizarre outbreak of talking dogs!!

Anyway, I have a good feeling about this season and whilst our trusted vigilantes, both on here and SFM, are keeping an eye on the wrongdoers in the game, I feel that we have Sevco where we want them…..and that is grubbing around in their self created squalor.

    Cathach,

Terrific post, which laid out clearly Celtic’s position within the rotten to the core Scottish game. Kudos.

    Hot Smoked,

Sevco will obviously finish in the top three or four, maybe even second.

However, it is a European run that they desperately need and no way is that a given.

From the little I have seen of them over the past week, there is not one bit of difference between Gerrard’s tactics than Murty’s, even with different players.

Even allowing for the early stages of pre season, it just doesn’t look there.

A wee story re Gallachers Bar (The International)

In March 1969 I was the secretary of the Clydebank Emerald Supporters Club and we all drank in Gallachers..

Celtic were due to play AC Milan and every man and his dog wanted to be there that night!

2 Stand tickets were allocated to each cub of the Association but all our members – all working class guys – wanted to watch the game in (Kev’s) jungle.

I mentioned this to the manager of Gallaghers, D Mc L, who said he would gladly buy the stand tickets off me so I collected them and gave them to him at face value!

There was such a demand for tickets for this game that Stand tickets were going for over £100 pounds a piece on the black market!

To this day, I am absolutely staggered that the bar steward thanked me for the tickets but didn’t even offer me a half pint of beer for my trouble!

But then I don’t think he was a real Bankie!

    Hail !Hail!

Once got barred from a pub there for buying a J2O for an 18yo who couldn’t prove his age, despite the fact that the place, being a Wetherspoons, was crawling wi kids.

Have the ST cards been replaced this season. I’m on holiday just now, so can’t check the post, and passed the old one to a mate. Will it work for tonight’s game? My niece has been sent a new one..

Cards stay the same, unless you have moved seat or a change in age ie Jnr to Adult then you will be sent a new card,,, apart from the folk in the standing section who got issued with nice shiny blue ones ?

Not 100% on it but only Rail/Standing section and people who have changed seats or age categories have been given new tickets.

    Including blue ones!

AFAIK,if your seat is the same,so is your ticket.
