Zbyszek, our man in Poland, was surprised when Celtic signed Patryk Klimala from Jagiellonia Bialystok. It is fair to say the subsequent lack of impact and opportunities bore out what he told me at the time.
Patryk arrived the month after we played a League Cup Final without a striker fit enough to start the game. Lewis Morgan, a lighter-than-air winger, played the striker role until Odsonne Edouard’s arrival in the second half. With the league title in the balance in January 2020, there would have been an over-eagerness to get a deal, any deal, over the line. Which is why Patryk, hitherto plying his trade 33 miles from the Belarus border, came to work in Glasgow.
You and I have not seen enough about Patryk to proffer an informed opinion, his appearances have been fleeting, although there were signs of encouragement, in particular against Lille. The most relevant fact is that he was unable to acquire a place in an underachieving Celtic team. Getting our £3.5m investment back feels like an unlikely win.
Perhaps the most curious aspect of his transfer, due to complete shortly, is the buying club. New York Red Bulls, the North American outpost of one of European football’s most data-driven club owners. You can be sure Patryk featured heavily in key metric reports during his development years. If Red Bull are buying, the data will suggest there is a player there; the same data almost certainly took him to Glasgow in the first place.
Separating data from noise is an analytical problem that cuts across disciplines. It will be interesting to watch what happens to Patryk over the next few years, is he a data find or background noise?

Let’s All
That was pretty much my question to St Stivs overnight.
Genuinely, does the other site post lead articles on scottish politics?
Several articles here, of late, have been overtly political. More articles on Scot Gov than on our search for a new management team.
Now this is Paul’s site and he can post what he wishes. However, we can hardly be concerned over political comments when lead articles are, with ever more regularity, political themselves.
I tend to skim read the political ones and I’d love to read more debate on football matters. However, each to their own
Lets 9:55
And how many punters know how to mask their IP’s
Gordon Strachan: Borna Barisic has been watching too many gangster films, John Kennedy has nothing to apologise for
Great quote from Strachan, however, Barisic reveals the mindset that’s driven Rangers to take the title
Will return to this subject tomorrow
RIP,the wonderful Helen Mc Crory.Anyone remember her acting the part of Cherie Blair.
A long time since any stars passing has left me really sad.

Remember a load of early kick offs if you’re putting a coupon on Bhoys
So more lying shite about 120 year history that was broken
We need to call this out – officially. Dom, one of your jobs 😂
There’s nothing quite like a Royal funeral, that makes you want to cut the grass
Going to be a long day with this funeral pish….media black out for me

I did just post the attached below on Sentinel Celts, as a few have messaged me
I did notice An Tearmann request prayer on Wed am as well
Rest in Peace Colin McKay, and May Perpetual Light Shine Upon You
🙏🙏🙏
Colin McKay (aged 50, from Greenock) was my Son in Law, Stephens much loved uncle.
Stephens family obviously originate from Greenock.
Colin did have his Covid injection early evening on Monday, and was rushed in hospital early hours of Tues morning, with what was originally diagnosed as a major Stroke, losing full Body functions and speech.
Tues afternoon, the full family were called into hospital ( this included my Son in Law and daughter) to be informed Colin was brain dead, a blood clot, and only the machine were keeping his other organs functioning
After agreeing to release his organs, the machine was eventually switched off, with Colin officially passing away at 4 mins past midnight on Wed morning.
Colin’s much loved wife, is our new win CQN’s Connaire’s (Monsignor), Niece, and he also leaves behind his 18 year old son and 7 year old daughter.
A hugely devoted family man to his own family, his parents, his brother & family and wider family and friends
For obvious reasons I did not post full detail earlier this week – other family members at that time had not yet been informed.
I had posted on a RCQN WhatsApp group, asking for prayers on Tues, to support the family.
So if so minded
Can I ask you keep Colin, his family and friends in your prayers at this extremely difficult time.
Thanks
New win was own when I typed
Apologies

Anyway, I wonder if, when Ireland is reunited (a form of unionism you support I assume), they will return to their ancestral homeland? Blood of our blood and bone of our bone as Scotland’s Parnell once called them.

This scenario is a distinct possibility. Scotland would be a ‘home from home’ for Ulster Unionist ex-pats in terms of culture, religion and sport.
It’s already happening to a degree. Since the 1990s, children
of middle class Ulster Unionist parents have been opting for Scottish universities then putting roots down here.
Whether or not their influence would be benign – tim alone will tell.

yes but remember this will be the politicos doing it to circumvent the ban
and as they are always telling us they are far intellectually superior to the rest of us so they will be able to do it no bother

10/10 for that comment 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Dreadful news, just dreadful. I’ll keep the family in my thoughts today, especially his children.

Sincere condolences on the tragic passing of Colin. Thoughts and prayers for all concerned.

So, it’s another day closer to “the big one”. Nothing like a game against “it’s definitely not Rangers” to get the juices flowing!
The next chapter in the six year old “rivalry” and an opportunity for our opponents to “firm up” (see what I did there!) the “rivalry” further by cutting the trophy count gap to 109.
Maybe also an opportunity for Kennedy to stake a claim for permanent manager? A narrow win or a narrow defeat and, who knows, the job could be his. Just avoid the Rodgers-style five goal thrashings, John – you know how that ends!
In a completely unrelated matter it is now 17 years and one month since Celtic won a knockout tie in Europe.
Happy Birthday kris Ajer

Happy B-Day big Kris. If I was the new manager, I would try to get him on a new contract, and he would be the new Busquets.

Condolences NorrieM.
I have just read an article about the Rocco Vata who is the son of Rudi Vata (who is described as a ‘Celtic cult hero’). Looks like he is a good prospect.

what is this latest fear you are attempting to generate here?
You both should know they are equally entitled to keep British nationality in the same way citizens in 6 counties can opt to be irish. but dont let truth get in the way of one of your fear/panic nonsense.it is already incorporated in GFA.

It was a shock hearing that news. She had a great body of work and still young. Came across as a real character.
2-1 to the good guys tomorrow. Edouard finally turning up this season.
Irrespective of how it ends tomorrow, I think John Kennedy has handled the media really well in the past few weeks. He’s not the guy for us right now but I certainly hope he goes on to have a successful career as a manager.

Insightful stuff here.
The people that some of our kind think they are ‘stuffing” by voting SNPcult and wishing for independence, will not merely ‘melt away’ after independence. They will dust themselves down, regroup and assert their majority view politically. SNPcult won’t hang about to shoulder the ‘wailing & gnashing of teeth’ in a bankrupt Scotland. There will be a political vacuum to be filled.
The SNPcult have stated that a large influx of immigrants will be needed if Scotland is to recover after separation. Many Scots will relocate south in tandem with parts of our commercial, manufacturing & financial sectors. So it would not be a surprise if there was a substantial influx from Northern Ireland in the event of unuification.
SNPcult, firstly under Salmond and now with Sturgeon, have cynically introduced the Ulster interpretation of the Nationalist & Unionist labels, to target and con the traditional Irish/Catholic/Celtic Labour vote. This has been successful and has delivered c350k voters. With the UK vote bigger but split three ways – these converts make SNPcult virtually unbeatable in council, Holyrood & Westminster elections.
Our kind would suffer in a independent Scotland – if some only had the nous to think it through, they would soon realise.
The SNPcult delivered a load of wishful thinking, supposition and downright lies in their 2014 “thick’ White Paper ‘Scotland’s Future’ – they are now doing it again in 2021 with a ‘slimmed down’ version of the same title – promising everything from a 4 day week to free services for everyone. Remember what happened with “We will abolish Council Tax” & “Oil will make us the richest small country in the world” from the 2014 publication.
Why are we blighted by a large minority who have ‘buttoned-up’ heads.
