KLIMALA CLINCHES SWITCH

PATRYK KLIMALA ended his 15-month stay at Celtic when he eventually signed for New York Red Bulls today.

The Polish striker flew to the States last week for a medical, sort out a visa and other paperwork to eventually trigger a deal that could see the Hoops recoup most of the £3.5million they paid for the 22-year-old frontman from top-flight Jagiellonia Bialystok in January 2020.

Gerhard Stuber, the team’s coach, stepped up the move following his side’s shock 2-1 home loss to SC Kansas at the weekend where ex-Celts Andrew Gurman played at left-back and Cameron Harper remained on the subs’ bench.

Klimala, who scored a meagre three goals at Parkhead, struggled to make an impact in Glasgow during his 28 appearances and his terms at the club were due to run until June 2024.

He made just three league starts during a disappointing campaign and hadn’t scored a goal since October.

The Pole is standing by to make his debut at LA Galaxy on Sunday.
