KLIMALA REVEALS SERIE A INTEREST

NEW Bhoy Patryk Klimala has revealed he rejected offers from Italian top-flight clubs to join Celtic.

The 21-year-old Polish striker formalised his £3.5millioin switch from Jagiellonia Bialystok earlier this week to leave Serie A outfits and a host of other interested teams disappointed.

Klimala insisted there was nowhere else he wished to go as soon as he learned the Hoops were tracking him.

The powerful hitman, speaking to the Evening Times, said: “I feel it is a big achievement for me to come to Scotland and sign for Celtic.

“I have always dreamed of playing for a big club. Celtic is a huge club with a lot of history.

“I had a few offers from other clubs, but I never even thought of moving elsewhere as soon as I learned Celtic were interested. I made my mind up straight away to come here. I’m very happy about it.

“There were big clubs from Italy and other countries interested in me, but I don’t want to mention their names.

“I feel my style of football is more suited to Celtic. So, this is the best choice for me to make.

“I would describe myself as a strong and fast player, I feel I am best suited to Celtic and Scottish football. I think I will do well here.”

Klimala has no worries about his price tag or playing in front of 60,000 crowds at Parkhead.

He added: “In terms of the pressure here, I know the fans at Celtic support the club and that is not going to overwhelm me.

“I’m going to do my best to get the fans’ support in every game.”

Klimala has been brought in to take the burden of goalscoring off the shoulders of Odsonne Edouard who has been virtually leading the attack on his own over the past 13 months.

Leigh Griffiths came off the radar in November 2018 with personal issues and the Scotland striker has scored only three goals in this campaign.

Vakoun Issouf Bayo has claimed only one strike since his £2million arrival a year ago and could now be on the verge of a loan move, as CQN reported yesterday.
