Knowledge management

I caught a bit of yesterday’s newspapers; the contrast between an article in The Herald, linked from the Quick News section, and one elsewhere was stark.  It brought to mind a very politically incorrect cartoon depicting a conversation someone trying to explain the consequences of a football club getting into vast amounts of debt.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening” was the active line.

This far into actual news [def: hard information about a subject] on how Rangers were being run by the board in charge prior to Craig Whyte’s takeover, some are still flogging “EBTs were legal”, “No one complained about EBTs at the time”, “Juninho had an EBT”, as though somehow any of this was in doubt or relevant to the question.

The only show in town, to use our favourite phrase from last season, is ‘Were players illegally registered?’  You can pay them in cash, by EBTs or by boatloads of bananas, you can pay them when they were playing, before they were playing or after, the timing makes no difference whatsoever, but did you record all contracts or did you hide dozens of contracts from oversight?

Anyone who, this late in the debate, is blabbering on about EBTs being noted in Rangers annual accounts either doesn’t have the grey stuff to grasp the point, or somehow believes they can knowledge manage their readership.  “You don’t have the intellect to understand what is happening”, is perhaps the message they are sending out.

I agree there is obstacles to overcome.Tomorrow we play Benfica, they are a club we should look at ,as a model, they are one of the best supported “Clubs”in the world.IMO membership is the way forward.Do you know that there is 50million people of Irish decent in the USA alone. Now I know that some on here will scoff at that comment, but as one who spent his working life in sales,I know who I would target.IMO.HH.

  2. Anyone up on the price of CHIVAS REGAL 12year old Whisky 1litre.

I bought Three bottles of spirits today from a friend, 2 bottles of Glenmorangie plus the one above, I know the price of Glenmorangie is at £36 per bottle,Did I get a bargain, or did I get a very good bargain.I offered him £60 for the three, and he accepted.

  3. I thought the new third kit is White with a Green Collar and the Celtic Cross.

Why does the Nike video show Neil Lennon picking a picture of the very first Celtic Strip?

I agree, the club will not jeopordise the shareholders stake.

Where that leaves the support, who knows.

Maybe’s they are planning for some collateral damage along the way.

Tis not a choice I would like to make.

  6. Afternoon all.

I see we have been “blessed” with another black strip. Why?? It looks awful. Can’t see that making any inroads in the debt. Why not white with green piping and a Celtic Cross (and no sponsors logo)?

Oh yeah, I’m pretty sure I read that around 75m people in the States claim Irish heritage. Phil had an article around the time we were there for the Madrid match about how we could increase our popularity with by targetting this particular market and there is obvious potential there. He got a couple of negative responses as he suggested that we almost claim the famine as ‘our’ historical event or something to that effect. I think his wording was perhaps ill advised on that occasion but the point remains we have huge untapped potential in cetain areas.

7am kick offs are a big obstacle though!

  8. The Inverness supporters club used to run a couple of buses to Celtic park.

I used to travel on the Inverness bus many moons ago.. what a great time it was. Back in the days of the 3pm Sat games.

Auldheid rightly states that the club have a lot of issues to consider,

I fully sympathise with those sentiments.

However, as individuals, we, too, have issues to consider.

Do we put aside our own feelings?

Knowing that the cheating has been exposed and in the event of the perpetrators, i.e., the games authorities, not responding in an open ,honest way and continue in the rehabilitation of TRFC, then we are being asked to accept being second class citizens.

Personally, I don’t think that I can accept that. I have never eaten anyone’s dirt in my life and I cannot start now.

The hun has ,to date, shown that they will follow them to the 3rd. Div.

Would today’s Celtic support continue to support our club if they unilaterally opted to leave the league and operate at a lower level elsewhere?

If reconstruction is pushed through, would each club have to sign up to it, or could they opt out?

A case of “we never left the League, the League left us”.

Anyway, I believe that when the dust settles on all outstanding disreputable matters, Celtic have some serious decisions to make.

I don’t envy them, nor would I condemn them if they feel that they can’t act with the integrity demanded of the situation.

They have a business to run, I am merely a supporter.

    I would.

  10. My Dear Kojo….

Struggling to be optimistic about tomorrow night’s encounter with Benfica..

A fully fit Joe Ledley is essential to our team….

He gives balance and stability to our midfield….

Does all the seldom appreciated spade work….and provides cover for the occasionally wayward Izzie….

And still manages to come up with vital goals….

If one does not readily appreciate Joe’s contribution when he is actually playing in the side….

One readily notices a considerable deterioration in team performance ,when he is absent….

We must seize the initiative tomorrow..

With a creaky defence and a threadbare midfield….

‘Attack’ should be our best form of Defense…

Take the game to these fragile Latin Primadonas….

    And watch them fall apart….

Giga-Watt MUST be the first name on the team sheet…..

With either Miku….or the Girnin’ Gary Hooper playing second-fiddle…..

Watt & Forrest are the players who make things ‘happen’ for us in attack….

Hooper simply hangs around….waiting for things to happen….

With Commons on the Left Midfield,Wanyama and Brown/Twardzik Central….and Forrest terrorizing them down the right wing….

We should be three-up by half-time….

And can bring on Matthews ,in place of Forrest….to see the game out…..

Let’s Take Inspiration From The Dashing Spirit Of Lord Nelson….

    Back In The Day….

Let’s Slice The Arms Off This Portugee’ ‘Man-O’-War….

    Sounds Like A Plan …?

    If you are around?

I would be interested to know how our average annual gross turnover c £50m compares to other non – top 5 countries… and how those smaller countries/teams compare in terms of Euro CL or EL performances.

It seems to me we don’t get bang for the buck …money we do have seems to be squandered

£1m quid (pre-tax) a week playing in a stadium we own -surely to gawd we should be performing better?

    My point…

If we do have a membership scheme (and I support you 100% on that ..) and harness the squillions of untapped Celtic market and get more bucks for tv etc., etc.,

What assurances do we have that our leaders can be trusted to spend that money well?

I am looking forward to Benfica tomorrow night, taking my daughter – her first big ‘euro nights’ season, and the feeling is superb

Just a nagging doubt there is a fundamental flaw in the way we are structured -how we prepare for the start of each season – our development programmes -dareisay customer service? etc, etc

50 million quid – it has been much higher!

Something…somewhere in the background doesn’t feel right
