KOEMAN COOL ON GUIDETTI

SOUTHAMPTON boss Ronald Koeman has insisted he will not be pursuing John Guidetti.

Koeman was the Swedish striker’s coach at Feyenoord for a year and was impressed by his 20-goal haul in 23 games.

However, Guidetti is not a priority signing for the Dutchman as the 22-year-old runs down his Manchester City contract that will see him a free agent in the summer.

Responding to reports linking him with the frontman, Koeman said: “There is nothing serious in that.

“Okay, maybe about that I worked with Guidetti one season with Feyenoord, but at the moment we are not looking for another attacker.”

Celtic gaffer Ronny Deila admitted talks on the player’s future have been shelved for the time being.

He said: “We’ve been speaking for a long time, but he has decided to see what his options are.

“It will be March or April, maybe longer, so there won’t be any final decision this month.

“But we know we have him until the end of the season.”

Guidetti fired in 11 goals in his first 12 appearances for the Hoops, but has hit a six-game barren run which has seen him dropped to the subs’ bench for the past three matches against Kilmarnock, Hamilton and Motherwell.
