  1. the glorious balance sheet

Ronny Deila was quoted as saying wide players are a priority. I think that a clinical striker with a physical presence is the priority. No point in us signing wide players right now as they`ll only be playing crosses in in futility as we have no one to attack the crosses when they come in.

    ==================

I was thinking the same. A six yard box player.

    THIS Ronnie is superb..

Not many managers undefeated in the Champions League…his Celtic record is 100% victorious in UCL.

    That ll do for me..

    0-1. I’ll take that.

Big difference in the speed of movement with the ball in the second half.

Thought the striker(s) was slow to attack the near post too often despite some terrific crosses, and Stokes getting hooked was no surprise.

To be fair, while he’s got some devilment in him, he doesn’t have the pace to trouble, or the height/stature to be so slow. Griffiths strikes me as having more devilry and more pace. We’ll see, but I expect Ronny’s not blind to the matter.

    Delighted for young McGregor.

    Pleased for Ronny Deila.

New start. Good start in the main. Here goes.

  4. Take a 1-0 win away especially in Europe any day.

    We’ll unless I have them at -1

Good result – we are nowhere near top fitness- played against a team halfway through their season – organized – fit and as bankiebhoy said defended ” solidly”

New Managemnt team in place for us also still assessing the squad – if stokes did not shake ronnys hand then that is just petulance from a so called professional

Onwards and upwards- remember KR now have to open up if they want to progress – for me a very good result at this early start in the season ( anybody remember how bad we were away to elfsborg last year?) hh

  6. A good win and a decent second half performance, Griffiths is wasted out on the right he needs a central role but still think we need a target man and quickly, I like that Ronny has identified wingers as a priority but who are they going to cross to ? We have virtually no threat in the air and lack pace in final third.

The Tony Watt situation is a mystery to me, he’s direct, has pace and his work rate is excellent but he doesn’t even make the squad ? Is he injured ? Derk done well tonight and Pukki seems improved but still nowhere near good enough. Commons is our only real goal threat which is worrying, hopefully James Forrest will be back soon as we need some flair in the team but most of all I just want Tony Watt given a fair crack of the whip and at least we’ll know one way or the other if he has it or not.

  7. Content Celtic fan here.winning start for us, congratulations Ronny and well done Calum McGregor.well done Celtic.

I would also add that it’s another step in ronny and jc assessing the current squad- I don’t think jc especially will defer from chapping PL s door if squad needs strengthened hh

  9. Firstly I’d like to address the big baldy tatooed Hun retard (sorry sensetive souls, but context is vital here) who walked out the Prestwick pub I was in and catcalled back ”Mon the Reykjyavik!’.

Roon ye, ya desperate Zombie prick. A good hour schtum at the bar listening to me and my buddies talking pish and intetmittently viciously slagging the Huns and all you’ve got is a bleat before scarpering for the Burns; the courage of the Hun – a living tragedy.

On the Hoops – pish but accepatble. Regardless of the Apocalyptic on here, it was always going to go one way or the other – if we’d scored early we’d have scored a barrowload, if not a war of attrition.

Ultimately, almost a safely negotiated passage to next round. No great enthusiasm, many great changes needed and faults needding addressed, but bottom line – the Celts are nearly there.

  10. Think the stokes experiment must be over. Will never make a prolific striker

No amount of new managers saying that we can develop our own players will not get away from the fact we need new players mr lawell

Ps while I am at it. We are are watching you for your next AGM balance sheet transfer

  11. My thoughts on last night, for what they are worth….

Putting everything in to context, i thought we gave a controlled and professional performance. Possibly lacked sharpness in front of goal, and certainly could have been more ruthless… it was 1-0 going on 6 or 7.

My 2 Negatives are not directly against the team or manager. Far from it… First and most significant negative for me = Anthony Stokes

From the off, he is setting the absolute wrong example. He is also putting the new Manager in an awkward position. If i were Ronny, i would fine him a weeks wages, and make it clear that such petulance won’t be tolerated. Stokes is displaying completely the wrong attitude, and if possible at all i would encourage his agent to houk him round English Championship clubs to see if there are any takers.

My 2nd Negative from last night, was the response to the performance and result from a large section of so-called fans. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, i agree… however there are too many negative minded fans for my liking today. To eager to write off the new manager, and criticise the club at every turn / opportunity. The scathing feedback i read on some threads was ridiculous.

Get behind the Bhoys, and Ronny… i would be very suprised if we didnt gub K.R 5 or 6 Nil, on the return leg, on a big Murrayfield pitch.

Ideally for me, we need to address Centre half, as i dont feel Efe Ambrose is one. We also cant play 4-3-3, or 4-2-3-1 as it was last night, with the main Striker not willing to be exactly that. Stokes remit last night should have been stay in the 18 yard box. Sta central and stay as high up against the last line of defence as you can… But no, billy big-balls likes to do as he pleases.
