Krasnodar fans on Kouassi Eboue

314

Our man Zbyszek joined a Krasnodar fan website last night to ask about Celtic signing target, Kouassi Eboue, from Ivory Coast. Here are some of the comments he got back:

“He has good technical skills, is fast and is good in the air. He’s shown to be comfortable in hard, dirty, games. At 19-years-old, he needs a good coach for his next step forward. I think the guy has a wonderful future ahead of him (or I know nothing about the game).”

Zbyszek asked why Krasnodar are selling Eboue:

“Krasnodar have a Financial Fair Play axe hanging over their heads. They have no money to strengthen the team and are in debt. They are also limited in the number of foreigners they have have in the squad.”

Eboue gave a recent interview to a Russian newspaper where he said:

“I’m always ready to play whichever position the coach things best, whether as a defensive midfielder or in the attacking zone. I feel I can grow as a player by becoming more involved in the attacking game, my coaching now concentrates more on this part of play.”

Kouassi grew up in a poor village near Dabou, in Ivory Coast. He first kicked a football at 5 and was invited to a local academy at 10. By 15 he received his first invitation abroad – Armenia, where he moved three years ago.

Krasnodar coach, Oleg Kononov, took an interest in Eboue, who trained with the club for a few weeks before making the move ro Russia formal in May 2014.

The player turned 19 less than a month ago, so his rise to an established first-team player in the Russian Premier League has been rapid. This has been a challenging deal for Celtic, a lot more so than scouting the best breaking through at Tannadice.

Our coaching and scouting staff are no mugs – they must know enough about Eboue to see something that wee bit special to be spending that much money on a 19 year old.

I would liken this sort out of ‘gamble’ to Arsenal and Tottenham signing Walcott and Bale respectively when they were barely out of nappies at Southampton.

Of course there are no guarantees…

Not seen any of the Sevco stuff – is it Jon Toral they are on about?

I saw him at Brentford and he was seriously nothing special – a kind of Marc Crosas – tidy enough but no match winner.

Jota on the other hand is a very decent player who would improve them…who are they bumming up as their transfer target?

Same to you and your beautiful lady.

We think !!! a Doc has sussed the source of all the problems, it makes sense, one thing affects another and all the way down to her having a heart attack, she is having a scan next week, it will tell us once and for all, pretty sure she will be sorted this time, only taken a couple of years but we hopefully have gotten there :-)

Big Kolo will have put his tuppence worth in regarding this signing target, hope we get it over the line.

Relax everyone. Relax. I have the perfect plan to quickly accelerate our club to the very highest perch in World football. Eboue? How about Messi, or Agüero?

I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me sooner. When it did, its striking simplicity as the answer to our problem of getting our great club to the top of the tree, whilst stuck in the financial backwater that is Scottish Football, actually made me laugh.

Fellow Celts, I have bought the history of one Cornelius Vanderbilt. Cornelius Who? I hear you ask. Only the richest man that ever lived.

For anyone unfamiliar with Cornelius…..erm….cough… me. I am a man who came to fortune through the building of railroads and shipping lines during the 1800s. I was also the founder of Vanderbilt University, and my family name still carries much clout today. During my heyday, my wealth reached an approximate $185 billion, most of it accumulated later in life as I expanded my railroad empire following the American Civil War.

I am just waiting on the final paperwork to confirm the transfer of Cornelius Vanderbilt’s history to Hunderbirds Are Gone. On receipt of final paperwork I shall be contacting DD, as a matter of urgency, to relieve him of his controlling shareholding. I will then make available to Brendan Rodgers a transfer “warchest” that will dwarf the GDP of a medium sized industrial nation.

Funny thing is……. I got the idea from the Huns :)))

  6. Kilmainham Gaol has put up a digital collection of ‘autograph books’ held by prisoners who were held there around the time of the Easter Rising. The autograph books were like diaries and included personal accounts of prisoners own involvement in the Rising, drawings and well wishes from other prisoners.

I have been shouting out for a defensive midfielder for a couple of years now. The problem is that we probably only need this type of player for the European games, so the best bet seemed to be either an older player coming to the end of his career or a younger one on the way up. Hopefully Kouassi is the answer!

By the time he has developed and got a number of games under his belt, SB will be winding down and playing fewer games, so there could be a good transition in place. Good planning ahead by someone!

  9. Thanks for the link, Almore. Six One News did an item on it there, but didn’t give the web address!

  10. Park Road 67: You are welcome.

Yogi Hughes: That is where I saw it. I never heard of the autograph books before so it makes another visit to the Gaol a must.

  11. Sipsini: Best wishes to you and your wife at these difficult times.

Delanys Dunky: Best wishes to you and your mum.

  15. Celtic’s squad is expected to get a much needed boost with the possibility of major reinforcement coming in the form of midfielder Kouassi Eboue.

The 19 year old was recently spotted in Glasgow after supposedly having his medical at Celtic Park.

BBC reports claim that the Hoops have already agreed a fee in the ball park of £3 million with Russian club FC Krasnodar.

  24. My dad died twenty five years ago and he instilled a love of sport in me.

He never declared that he was a fan of Liverpool, he never even encouraged me to follow them. But he did organise a bi-annual works trip to Liverpool which always included a game at Anfield. He usually brought one of my older brothers along with him.

The only soccer matches he took me to were for the work place soccer team which he managed. I rarely watched those matches, I’d just go exploring the local area and know instinctively to come back ten minutes before full time. The bit I looked forward to on these match days was the occasional trip to the pub afterwards when the players would buy the manager’s son a glass of orange and a packet of ‘pub’ crisps.

But attending Gaelic football matches, well that was different. My mother dressed us up in as much Dublin colours as she could, prepared the sandwiches, treats and flasks and off we’d go to Hill 16 (Croke Park) or to the many county grounds dotted around ireland. Three in the front seats (Corsair) and at least four of us in the back. When we arrived at the ground my dad would lift the four boys over the stile and then pay for himself and my mother. Once inside we baled as far from my parents as we could and would find a suitably elevated site from where we would watch the match. (In Croke Park, this would always be on the ‘jacks’ on Hill 16).

My dad was no quiet fan. He was embarrassingly vocal and he berated the opposition and referee for the duration of the match. He sang the National Anthem with enthusiastic vigour and with perfect Gaeltacht pronunciation of the lyrics – and always out of tune. He would engage (enrage) nearby supporters with his analysis of every move and controversial moment.

Journeys home after matches were a nightmare if Dublin lost. He would go over each play of the game explaining how the biased ref or a dirty opposition player cost us the game. Later that night when the highlights were shown he would curse RTÉ for not showing the ‘blatent injustices’ meted out to the Dubs.

But no matter what the score, he loved going to the games, and did so for as long as his health allowed him to. He always supported his team, encouraging the players until the final whistle and never had a bad word to say about the team or the manager. He would be proud of his legacy to us – his four sons and two daughters still living in Ireland attended last year’s All Ireland final replay as did several of his grand children. My three brothers here still go to nearly all of the home and away games. I go to as many games as I can but if Celtic Park beckons, Paradise is my first choice.
