Krasnodar fans on Kouassi Eboue

Our man Zbyszek joined a Krasnodar fan website last night to ask about Celtic signing target, Kouassi Eboue, from Ivory Coast. Here are some of the comments he got back:

“He has good technical skills, is fast and is good in the air. He’s shown to be comfortable in hard, dirty, games. At 19-years-old, he needs a good coach for his next step forward. I think the guy has a wonderful future ahead of him (or I know nothing about the game).”

Zbyszek asked why Krasnodar are selling Eboue:

“Krasnodar have a Financial Fair Play axe hanging over their heads. They have no money to strengthen the team and are in debt. They are also limited in the number of foreigners they have have in the squad.”

Eboue gave a recent interview to a Russian newspaper where he said:

“I’m always ready to play whichever position the coach things best, whether as a defensive midfielder or in the attacking zone. I feel I can grow as a player by becoming more involved in the attacking game, my coaching now concentrates more on this part of play.”

Kouassi grew up in a poor village near Dabou, in Ivory Coast. He first kicked a football at 5 and was invited to a local academy at 10. By 15 he received his first invitation abroad – Armenia, where he moved three years ago.

Krasnodar coach, Oleg Kononov, took an interest in Eboue, who trained with the club for a few weeks before making the move ro Russia formal in May 2014.

The player turned 19 less than a month ago, so his rise to an established first-team player in the Russian Premier League has been rapid. This has been a challenging deal for Celtic, a lot more so than scouting the best breaking through at Tannadice.

Bada Bing. The article claims that he is being watched by Celtic but that his club has no plans to sell him.

    Seems highly regarded.

  2. Is James Mcarthy deal dead? Loan deal? I like the idea of him in the hoops. Strength , Pace and Power – also knows what is required from the jersey! Maybe Armstrong form has put this deal on the back burner.

Thanks for the heads up on the Thatcher book.

As you would probably be aware , I have a well founded suspicion that books about political figures , particularly one as controversial as she is , are always written by people who come to the task without an open mind but rather an axe to grind.

The few actual quotes from the book in the review reinforce that view.

Eg. : ” Whatever else they were, Thatcher’s administrations were not much of a democratic triumph. “Thatcher was never popular with most of the electorate,” Cannadine reminds us, “and studies showed that her values were not widely shared.”

The Guardian hack uses the word ” reminds ” as if what has been stated is fact .

The fact is that this was a politician who , after mid `79 , was never rejected by the British electorate .

In fact , it could reasonably be argued that her legacy as a successful and popular prime minister and Tory leader was reinforced by the fact that her successor was elected some six weeks after the Tory party , not the general public , gave her the boot.

Something which , I have no doubt , has generated your eternal gratitude to the Tory party.

    :-)

    Thanks again , Bobby.

  8. Nice headed finish by Dele Ali to put Tottenham ahead against the London Huns. Runs to the crowd and celebrates with the fans. Gets booked. Does this happen every time a player celebrates with the crowd ?

Sucking all the passion out of the game – i like to see players who acknowledge the fact that some of these people pay good money to watch them, and are responsible for putting a few pennies in their pockets.

On the subject of our possible new bhoy, none of us know for sure whether he’ll be worth the transfer fee or not. Every player we pay money for is a gamble. We could get Moussa Mk II or we could get another Thomas Gravesen. Only time will tell.

  9. Defender of RC Lens, Jean-Kévin Duverne is wanted overseas. Especially in Scotland.

The 19-year-old, trained at La Gaillette, is in the sights of Celtic Glasgow. Nevertheless, a departure is not current. RC Lens does not intend to sell its protégé, who made a very good start to the season and who won as the holder of the central hinge, alongside Dusan Cvetinovic.

Jean-Kévin Duverne signed his first professional contract until June 2019 last September.

You will never get your cafe built spending time writing stuff like that but thank you anyway, it was great to read as was Saltires.

  11. Celtic linked aswel with lansbury from Notts forest .. vaguely remember him at arsenal so not sure how good a player he is.

Out of contract in summer so can agree pre contract this month.

  12. Cheers for positive comments. Inspired by Saltires en Sevilla last night.

  13. Watched a movie a few nights ago called Greater.

It was a good movie, without being great, about a kid that wasn’t good but had the will which made him a great, if that makes sense and I’d say it was well worth a watch.

Couldn’t help thinking of Tony Watt after it.

  14. PROUDBHOY

Lamsbury is a stand out player in a poor Forest side. One of the better creative midfielders in a league of runners and tacklers.

Available on a Bosman but that hasn’t stopped Derby bidding £2.5m (knocked back) and Villa bidding £3m.

My father was a gentle soul and in all honesty wasn’t the type to use swear words. He took me to my first Celtic game in a 1950s friendly V Belfast Celtic at Celtic Park Belfast,a game which attracted a full house and local charities were to benefit big time.Fast forward to 1965,yes the Scottish cup final V Dunfermline Ath.We arrived in Glasgow at seven am off the Royal Ulsterman a vessel we had boarded ten hours previous.First port of call was the National cafe for breakfast then a tour of Shawfield,Ibrox and ,of course Celtic Park. After the visit to Celtic Park a trip to the association rooms in kinloch street where the affable Mr and Mrs Hughes made us (forgot to mention we travelled on the Barleycorn CSC bus) most welcome. Then to former celt Jimmy Mallon’s bar in Paisley where I was treated to crisps and lemonade. On to Hampden …….Memories Bertie’s 2 goals big billy heading home from a corner from Charlie Gallagher John Fallon swinging on the goalposts.Bus down for the boat I took ill taken to western infirmary my da stayed in Bath street area two days later home. The old fellow had he lived would have been 102 next month. He followed the Bhoys with St.Peters CSC Belfast and were ‘put up’ by friends in Linwood,Springburn and Johnstone in the 50s and 60s.We went to more games and when he found it difficult to travel because of a variety of reasons I picked up the baton and still running.

Never heard about those bids .. sounds like decent player then . Could be useful addition to our squad.

Sounds like an improvement on mcgregor anyway if they are similar type players ?

He’s probably closer in style to Armstrong than any of our midfielders. Certainly would be a good addition to the squad. BR tried to sign him from Arsenal when he was at Swansea .

  20. Haven’t watched an EPL game for some time, given how much has been spent of the players in the Spurs Chelsea game, it’s pretty crap fare if the truth be told.

Big Bones wedding mass is in Belfast reception in clandyboy Bangor. We will arrive in Belfast on 1st July and stay until 8th. Then heading to Wicklow family tree stuff

Staying at a beach house in Bangor and will have car so getting into Belfast won’t be a problem.

Sounds good, The Clandyboye is a very nice hotel, nice and expensive also!Make sure your car boot is full.

Bangor is a lovely seaside town,middle-upper class retirees mostly, some not so nice places on the outskirts of the town but no big deal,no where is out of bounds for us now but you won’t find many Tims about.

July will be buzzing in Bangor if the weather is good and you’ll see some zombies wobbling about the place, but I’m sure you’ll be well advised anyway.

  22. The Exiled Tim,

You’ve not been missing much. Most games I’ve seen from down there are littered with mis-placed, or overhit passes, poor first touch, and some dreadful finishing. Massively over-hyped.

That said, Big Wanyama has strolled through the game and doesn’t look like he’s even broken sweat.
