KIERAN TIERNEY has given Celtic the clearest indication that he intends on becoming a ‘one club bhoy’ by signing a new six year contract that will take him to the summer of 2023.
The 20-year-old has made 97 appearances for the Champions, 96 of which have been starts, since gaining his first senior appearance away to St Johnstone in 2015. Tierney has impressed enormously in the recent years in the Champions League as well as domestically – which saw him become part of Celtic’s ‘Invincibles’.
However, the excellent performances of Tierney have attracted some of England’s top teams sniffing around looking to steal the star away from Celtic Park; yet today’s announcement is an indication that Tierney wants to remain under Brendan Rodgers and progress into a true Celtic legend.
The news will be a welcome relief for supporters that feared Tierney may be lured away to the honey pot of financial gain that England offers. Not only that, hopefully the news will galvanise the team ahead of tomorrow night’s sell-out in the Champions League versus Bayern Munich.
