KT REVEALS CELTIC SORROW

KIERAN TIERNEY had admitted he had sleepless night before he agreed to his £25million switch from boyhood idols Celtic to Arsenal in August.

The self-confessed Hoops fan also acknowledged some supporters of the eight-in-a-row champions will never forgive him for leaving the Parkhead outfit.

Tierney, 22, had been linked with the London side for almost a month before their offer was accepted.

The defender has now played twice for the Gunners – wins against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao League Cup and Standard Liege in the Europa League – and is standing by to make his Premier League debut against Bournemouth tomorrow.

Tierney accepted many Hoops supporters insisted he should have remained to help the side in their quest for 10 successive titles.

The Scotland international left-back, speaking to the Scottish Sun, said: “I don’t know if it will pass, some fans probably won’t ever forgive me.

“Everyone has their choice, some people will support me and others won’t. I just want to say thanks to everyone who supported me at Celtic.

“I couldn’t have got the move to Arsenal without their support and love.

“I gave Celtic 15 years. I put my body through a lot by playing through injuries.

“I gave everything I could every single day. Hopefully, they will continue to support me, but, if not, I just have to deal with that.”

Tierney continued: “It has been hard. People probably don’t realise it was a big thing for me.

“I don’t have to explain my love for Celtic. Everyone knows it’s the club I’ve supported all my life.

“But this was a chance to move to a massive club in England. Everyone told me it was a great move. It’s a chance to play against some of the best players in the world.

“Every day I am training with some of the best players in the world as well. It’s an opportunity to better myself.

“Sometimes you have to look at your career as well as what your heart is telling you to do — it was the toughest decision of my life.

“It kept me up at nights thinking about it. People who are around me know how hard it was.

“Could I end up back at Celtic one day? I have signed a long-term deal here at Arsenal and you can’t think that far ahead.”

Tierney, who underwent a double hernia operation in the summer, missed out on a Scottish Cup Final victory against Hearts on May 25 when Odsonne Edouard netted a double to seal the historic treble treble.

He played his last game for the Bhoys in a 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Pittodrie three weeks earlier when they clinched their eighth title in a row.
