I’ve never been comfortable with the ‘Greatest of all time’ comparisons. Pele or Messi, Cruyff or Maradona? It is clearly impossible to compare players across different eras, different competitions or playing in different teams.
Which makes the return of Jota so interesting. Jota Mark I was a Celtic icon, who left for a new club record fee and a little piece of all our hearts. Then the pesky stats guys got all interested in Nicolas Kuhn this season. Nicolas’ goal contributions are a step up from those which elevated Jota to that iconic status.
The players are similar height (Jota is 2cm taller) and build, and are at the same stage of their career (Jota is 9 months older). They are both ripping it up in the Scottish Premiership and were star performers on Champions League duty in Munich last month (less so at Paisley on Saturday). There are clear differences, though.
Jota has the better touch and is more effective in close proximity to a defender. For this reason, opponents are reluctant to get too near him, as he can ghost away. Kuhn links with others better. He seems to have a helicopter view of the pitch, allowing him to understand movement beyond the vision of most.
Hopefully we get to keep both for a few seasons anyway, and get to answer the question of who is better with some hard data and lots of subjective analysis. On the Greatest of all time question, Ronaldinho did things on a football field I have not seen from anyone else.

A little update regards OLDTIM67
Hi Cqn,
Myself and OneMolloy ex of this parish today visited Davie OldTim67 in FVRH in Larbet.
He had his operation on Monday for a # Neck of Femur. Post op he has possibly developed an infection of some type. He was very tired and mostly unresponsive whilst we were there. I will update the blog as I receive further news.
Please keep him in your prayers.🙏💚🤍💛
he makes a good recovery
Hail Hail
Shame the days of streakers have passed.
I like the potential headline “Starkers in Parkers”.
I’ll get my coat.
AT
Sorry to hear that.
I hope Old Tim has a speedy recovery.
Good on you, An Tearmann
All the best to Oldtim
Get well soon OldTim.

Celtic Park is … so last week.
Naming rights is the way ahead.
Our new 67,525 capacity arena should be called
“The Mary’s Meals Paradise Arena”
But only if the above charity simultaneously pay us for five years stadium naming rights AND five years shirt sponsorship …
… £1 for each.
(A man can dream)
All the best Davy. 👍

Free lunches for staff axed
As well as the redundancies, the ‘transformation plan’ will see the end of free staff lunches at Old Trafford – saving over £1m per year, according to the club.
celtic park for me, in the district of parkhead, in the city of glasgow,
someone asked about a calton song, surely strolling down the gallwgate counts
Its always been Parkheid for me and all of my family, well except my mum who was a civil servant and called it Parkhead, Mrs. TT’s extended family was the same, in fact I only actually heard it referred to Celtic Park when the Bunnet appeared on the scene, must be a Croy thing lol
It’s not if the main stand need done but when it needs done.
I would love to see celtic park completed i.e., corners and main stand brought up to same hight as rest of stadium. 70k-75k with extra 2k hospitality would be great. Have Integrated superstore, museum, supporters bars restaurant, hotel etc in new main stand.
No need to leave paradise when work being done, just copy man city and Liverpool. Build the upper corners and upper main stand directly in front of current main stand.
Option one: retain the lower tier and modernise under the seating area, boxes
Option 2: replace entire lower tier and replace with new similiar stand.
Both options likely gonna cost for prospective hearts main stand that holds 7k cost £22 million around 2018.
These displays led to a 14-minute delay to Celtic v Aberdeen, a five-minute delay to Motherwell v Rangers, a 3-minute delay to the Premier Sports Cup final; a health and safety risk to fellow supporters, players and those working at matches; as well as a significant inconvenience to thousands of supporters at the matches and fans watching worldwide.
Celtic:
The Commission found Celtic to have breached SPFL Rule H34 in respect of both the semi-final and final of the Premier Sports Cup.
In respect of the breach regarding the semi-final of the Premier Sports Cup the following sanction was imposed:
A suspended sanction of a reduction of 800 tickets for a future Premier Sports Cup match to be played at Hampden Park in the event of another breach of SPFL Rule H34 through pyrotechnic use by supporters of the Club in any SPFL competition before 30 March 2027.
In respect of the breach at the final of the Premier Sports Cup Final the following sanction was imposed:
An immediate reduction of 500 tickets for the next Premier Sports Cup match to be played at Hampden Park.
Cheers AT.
All the best to the fine man.
Fergus called it New Celtic Park a few times, when correcting the Laptop Loyal…

Mourinho has started his wind ups I see.
“Celtic has a fantastic coach in Brendan. Rangers has Ferguson now”
Ouch.
Cmon OLDTIM. 🙏
Great finish. Pity it was offside.
It sounds like McCoist has forgotten to put in his false teeth!
That was a penalty and red card.
Leverpool get off with another.

that interview was a master class in media manipulation
dont assk me questions about that manager, what is his name philip philop
Mourinho is looking forward to facing Ferguson as the interim Ibrox boss prepares for his first European tie – and suggested his side have a tougher task than if Philippe Clement was still in charge.
The Belgian criticised Mourinho’s style of football when the draw was made.
“I know his history as a football player for Scotland and for Rangers,” the Portuguese said about the former captain of the national team.
“I don’t know much about his career as a coach. I respect the emotional connection between him and his club. That is a very important thing, the connection between the fans and the coach.
“You can tell me he doesn’t have much experience in Europe as a coach, but I prefer to go on the positive side.
“It will be much more difficult against him than the previous coach. The previous coach was more worried about philosophy. Ferguson will be more pragmatic. It will be hard for us but it will be hard for them.”
go to largs young man
“Part of my formation was in Scotland – I have friends blue and green. We are very happy to go to Scotland and play a Scottish team.”
Mourinho spent time in Scotland during his formative years as a coach as he gained his B Licence and has warm memories of his time on the Ayrshire coast in particular.
“The Largs pubs… a disaster. I was only drinking sparkling water,” he said.
“But it was fantastic. From a learning point of view and a human point of view. They were the biggest guys in Scottish football at that time.
“It was very good on coaching – sometimes badges are just badges, but this was different.
“It was amazing for me. I went there with my university degree – I was still playing, at a low level, but still playing. That coaching course and the methodology level was different.
“After that so many times when I am asked by young coaches, ‘where would be a good first step?’ I say they should go there.”
why dont the SPFL give celtic and the huns a 1 game fan ban for the next breach of pyro then?
because that would cost the SPFL a massive pile of cash, thats why.
if the next breach is an 800 ticket reduction, what then happens after that for repeated breaches? 1500 reduction, then 5000, then 20000?
of course not.
another arsehole organisation dishing out punishments without principles, just like uefa handing out fines for blocking stairways.
Ss
I was at that game in the old huns end brilliant atmosphere dodgy refereeing and poor finishing put Celtic out 3.2 on aggregate
Benfica guy very lucky to stay on

Very succsheshful shpell ash Rangersh coach.
800 less at our next league cup visit to Hampden. How is the club going to handle that, reduce ultra groups by that amount (they are firing it off) or merely a global reduction 🤔
