It’s unusual to have two lefties in central defence but that’s how Celtic lined up against Hibernian on Saturday. Austin Trusty drew the short straw and was asked to play in the unfamiliar position. 25 minutes into the game a weak right-footed clearance only found Martin Boyle, who opened the scoring for Hibs against the run of play.
Nicolas Kuhn flipped the switch which put the champions ahead before the break with an excellent goal and assist. An end of season game was made look too easy for a Celtic team brimming with goals. Kasper Schmeichel returned from injury and demonstrated what a good shot stopper he is by denying Boyle early in the game.
With key players rested ahead of the Scottish Cup Final, there was a sense that Celtic were playing within themselves, happy to get the win without risking too much. The exception was Nicolas Kuhn, who was demonstrably riled in a confrontation. Good to see he is engaged.

Looks like I’m wrong again, having a mare here 😂.
David Strellec for me.Ticks every box..Around £8 million it seems.This season,24 goals and 8 assists.Lubo backing him.Nuff said
Reading about a Japanese,20 year old ,CH.Astonishing performance figures in his 71 games for Reos old team.Capped for Japan full team, won a few big honours.POTY last season..Around,£3 million.Big man would. have had him in,I think..Can’t lose at that price.
See the GB have advertised Saturdays party at Merchant City,Trongate.
Well done,Young Fellas.
Might be a few Klingons on the starboard bow.
Do people not actually listen to what the manager says ?
He told us before the game, that every fit player would get game time in the last 3 matches as he makes sure ALL OF THE SQUAD s fit and ready for the cup final.
As such, with Smechial, he wanted to see if he really is recovered from the shoulder injury, so he was playing saturday, and that Sinsalo was not dropped but would be back in the team against aberdeen. then he has a decision to make for the cup final.
Said also, those players with niggles would be rested for the same reasons, stating in particular CCV and AJ.
So why are people saying its a mystery of Smeichal playing ?
the boss told us exactly why.
ps, listened into ACSOM with Alan Morrison and the analytics.
He credits Kaspar, IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, with making more saves than expected, and being in the 95th percentile for shots saved and expected saves while always being within 1 meter of the ideal starting positions most of the time.
rANKED AS THE BEST IN THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, WHILE HIGHLIGHTING THAT jOE hART WAS ACTUALLY THE WORST LAST SEASON.
iNTERESTING.

Your maths seems a bit weird – did you miss a 1 in front of the 46 maybe?

Only when I posted I realised the maths was wrong. I got the information from Wikipedia none of it my own work!

I have a recollection of Costacurta playing left back against us in one game, I remember him speaking very highly of Aiden afterwards. Nesta, Maldini and Costacurta, three legendary center halves in the same team

EDB’s brother delivered a wonderful eulogy at the funeral.
*aye he’s a cracking lad, wee bit younger than me as was EDB who I didnae know until I cum on here, in fact I asked abut him in a pub up Balloch when I was next hame only to be told he was wee “G” s big brother.
BTW, I remember not being served in the Stag’s Heid for wearing a St. Patricks F.P. jumper.
*I had family in the area and had just missed my train so popped in there for a pint, wtf couldnae believe that it was hun central, but in saying that the Newton always was.
Think it is reasonable to assume Maik will be moved on.
Whether rightly or wrongly is debatable.
Brendan Rodgers has rejected the majority of the players brought in during that window.
I’ve a suspicion Yang will be sold too.
Tough perhaps on players who looked like they had something but hey ho.
Best wishes, clear the decks, by a lower number of good uns.
Easy on paper.
Iwata’s impact at promoted Birmingham might make Championship clubs more receptive to our fringe players.
Trying to make sense of a story I just read that the rangers cancelled a money spinning trip to OZ just after the SC final because it was going to clash with their visit to Spain for the Europa League final. Apparently it was going to be too much strain on the club staff.
MNCELT – they’re sill waiting on VAR to disallow the two Athletic goals.

McGowan in the Herald
Both AT and Saint Stivs posted Stephen McGowan’s article on Dermot Desmond’s role in Celtic’s success story. This recent success is nothing short of a phenomenon. But Celtic’s history and its survival over the last 127 years is also phenomenal.
An institution founded by immigrants for immigrants still exists- but not exclusively – for immigrants their sons, grandsons and great grandsons. It is altogether remarkable that this club with a core support drawn from only 16% or 17% of Scots is, unarguably, this country’s most successful football team.
That success has never been a formality. From the beginning of the twentieth century and before, Scottish football’s decision makers have had more than a cultural affinity and more than a preferential option for the Govan outfit. Remnants of this bias are still evident today. Despite all that, once again, Celtic have triumphed.
God bless the Glasgow Celtic.
get ready for this . two peoples opinion from our bratislava office
adam is a better player than david
A blog is all about opinions :-
Subsequently, my opinion is that Viljami Sinisalo should retain his place.
After very little game time he was thrown into the deep end and has grown into the job after a slightly shaky start.
Kasper has done magnificently, but Viljami is the man in possession of the jersey, and he is the future.
HH.
PS : The family that were charged full price for a 4 and 6 year old have managed to get childrens tickets for this Saturday. £22 difference in cost per ticket i was told. Big saving.
Barrowfield did Celtic shelve out £12 Millon, looking at the drone on You Tube I was expecting more the only thing worth mentioning is the indoor dome ,hopefully the ladies team can use them facilities as too make them a better team ,also my wish that a few on the Old Brigade directors retire very soon, they certainly lack ambition on everything Celtic ,younger men and women need to be encouraged to join the Celtic Board of Directors,

BSR – thanks for posting the info on Estadio Nacional in previous thread this morning. By coincidence I had sent them an email over the weekend as my daughter and her boyfriend are visiting in June. They sent similar to what you have posted though also said they have a number of events in June so maybe best that folks head to stadium as early into their time in Lisbon just in case it is in use. I’ve yet to get to Lisbon but hope to do so soon 🙏 🙏
Would Viljami Sinisalo have lost his place in the team if he had just toed the party line and not mentioned the “30 – 40 Missiles” that hun fans threw at him last week at Ibrox?
Bizarre.

The gym, sports science, analytics, and physio departments currently at celtic park are moving to Barrowfield over the summer.
Big investments in equipement and media av systems for analytics.
I am conviced this will allow footprint nside celtic park main stand to be repurposed for hospitality suites and uefa hosting.
that fella with the drone, as fixated as he is (talking to the drone as if it is his pal ffs), he is doing something that would be very easy for celtic via the project team, to do, put in a live camera feed so that people could follow the progress, and release month by month time lapse progress.
like everton and palace have done for their grounds.
people are interested, but celtic comms is so poor that i wonder if they believe they are the club, they are celtic, if they know what is going on, then why do the plebs need to know.
daveed ancelotti.
i am going to guess he is a catholic.

Saint Stivs on 12th May 2025 8:43 pm – I think Barry Ferguson got married in RC Church, and sent his son to St Mary’s and Holy Cross school’s in Hamilton.
Seems that post The David Murray era, and his Mo Johnston “stunt” that left Celtic on its ass for 9 horrible years, has changed the “What school did you go to” employment bigotry practices.
Timbhoy163 on 12th May 2025 7:51 pm
Barrowfield was never getting a 12 million makeover, it did not need that level of investment, there was aleady 2 full side pitches, a 9 a side pitch and a full size astrograss pitch. It got a 6 million make over. There are now enough pitches, outdoor, indoor, grass and astrograss, with associated changing rooms, gym, sport sciences offices, physio office space, waiting area, cafe area and coach and car parking. This will offer a central point for woman team and girls and boys academy teams. It is a significant improvement that will benefit those teams and players.
Lennoxtown training centre was also improved as well recently. Lennoxtown provides an excellent training centre for the 1st team with use of indoor pitch at barrowfield if needed. Worthwhile remembering celtic have used just over half the land they hold at lennoxtown so there is scope for future development.
Spending money on infustructure work is far better than leaving it in the bank. The club’s infustructure spend has future proofed lennoxtown and barrowfield for the next 20 years. We don’t need vanity projects. We need functional robust projects to build on.
Hopefully once all the work is completed, the club will look at the overall stadium and envous around it as well as the south stand update expansion, new superstore, museum, supports bar etc…

This would be extraordinary if it happens. The Huns appointing a 35 yo with zero management experience and had only ever coached under his da.
If Celtic did this, I’d be apocalyptic.
Imagine, we appointed Anton Rodgers as gaffer 😂 that’s how fu@ked the Huns are right now.

No.
I’m referring to our manager’s very clear explanation that Schmeichel was being brought to play against Hibs, with Sinisalo back in the team for Pittodrie on Wednesday.

The Sun,have a fairly Boak inducing intrview with some guy who took his badges with Ancelotti.According to. his. recollections, the only thing missing from his CV,was working with the poor in India as Ass.to Mother Teresa, and coachiing the new Pope in. his new job.
Meanwhile, the manager of Sheffield Wednesday,is high on the list of the consortium for the Hun job.
