Kuhn the prodigious

168

Three competitive games into the season and Nicolas Kuhn has scored in each of them.  The first was what is rapidly becoming a trademark move of his, cutting inside and along the front of the box before shooting, the second a run to the back post to be first to a cross, and yesterday’s from a rush on the keeper.

Two of these goals required speed as well as effort; qualities we see from Daizen Maeda in spades.  The relationship Nicolas has built with Reo Hatate is also noteworthy.  We have a more abundant select of talent on the wings than anywhere else in the squad, but after a period of selection changes last season, it’s very likely Nicolas and Daizen will be first choice for Champions League games this term.

The dirty little secret of team building is to find players with untapped potential like Nicolas and let them bloom.  More like this, please.

  1. I can’t figure out why Hugh Keevins wrote the the article he wrote in the DR today. Most of the time it’s clear but this one, the best I got is – he’s bitter.

  2. I think he could do with keeping it simple when he runs into the box, trust his finishing a bit more and improve his final ball when he does pass, all things that he can practice to get better at, however the improvement is there to see as is his fitness and stamina levels, good luck to the young man, he like ever other player seems to be enjoying playing for Celtic.

  3. I don’t comment on here much, prefer to spend time reading others thoughts.

The transfer window irks me quite a bit though. The number of leaks that we are interested in or monitoring a player, or 97 players it seems ,goes on for ages. Yes I understand negotiations can be time consuming and new managers at clubs want to look at players before keeping or releasing but we need to move things along.we are now 3 matches into our campaign and we are no deeper than we ended last season.

There has been improvements. I think kaspar is a better keeper than Joe and that’s not Dustin Joe at all .I loved him playing for us. Others have upped their performances.

Yes we can still improve certain areas, lb and cb for starters again no disrespect to those in them positions but every team should be looking to improve and strengthen the weakest part of a chain.

On Matt leaving, I certainly hope he doesn’t. I want that player at celtic for as long as possible. However money and ambition talk. He could go to Brighton and miss 8 champions league outings and replace them with mediocre matches like man city arsenal Liverpool man United Tottenham Chelsea etc twice a season. Being honest that’s a higher standard than 8 cl matches.

If he does go I will be disappointed but will wish him all the best. He has always given 100 percent maybe not always at his best in some games but he doesn’t hide.

    Matt please stay

  4. What they said

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers: “I thought we were excellent from the start of the game. We showed our hunger. We said before the game that our playmaker today would be our counter pressing.

“It was there and we were winning so many second balls. Our only real danger was from throw-ins. They’ve got guys on either side who can throw it in and add a little bit of pressure and make you fret a little bit.

“We dealt well with that, and their header was a great header. We don’t have any complaints. We could maybe have shifted our wall back a bit but we’ll learn from that.”

  5. Rangers can confirm it has issued indefinite bans to four individuals as enquiries continue following the incident outside Hampden Park on Saturday. Rangers has reached out to the St Johnstone employee to check on their wellbeing and to apologise on behalf of the club.

We abhor and condemn all incidents like this in the strongest terms and continue to support Police Scotland with their ongoing investigation.

  6. SS – we’ll look forward to onion bear smurf’s next tifo championing female survivors of assault.

  7. If the offer is 28 million

    1. The board will accept

    2. Brendan will be reluctant but it’s business

3 me the spporter tells Brighton that the second word is off

  8. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

“Now, I’m not saying Rangers are heading back towards liquidation. I don’t know nearly enough about their dealings to make that much of a doomsday prediction”.

Well at least Leckie admits he doesn’t “know nearly enough about their dealings”.

Someone should tell him a business/company/club can be liquidated only once, after which they cease to exist.

They are not called R2angers for nothing.

  9. I wonder how much the 4 game CL package will be. ?

    Reading it could be £200.

Interesting as the MOR bid is upped to circa £28m.

  10. CELTIC MAC @ 12:38 PM,

    Great post…

Not sure how we got into the position where you would need to state that though.

I’m sure they don’t have John Kennedy moonlighting as construction manager on the Barrowfield development or Gavin Strachan doing accounts on that tablet.

The “generalist” is a great asset to an organisation but sometimes you need a specialist…

    Hail Hail

  11. Hoping Oreily deal done quickly – the sooner we get a replacement in the better.

Rumours of Hatate going too – great wee player but I always get a feeling his mind is not 100% Celtic.

Midfield the main reason behind recent form – disruption ahead but mitigation with Bernardo + swift moves for target replacements (which I assume have already been sounded out )

  12. We simple must not lose Hatate, he is sensational, and I don’t care waht all the body language experts say.

What if MOR does not want to go to Brighton, then what ?

  13. Prestonpans bhoys on

Now this stinks, did the SFA “review” this audio themselves, as far as I recall they let the huns attend to listen when they had a case.

“The SFA have reportedly told St Johnstone of their verdict after reviewing Matthew MacDermid’s audio prior to Cyriel Dessers’ opener in the Premier Sports Cup.”

  14. Prestonpans bhoys on

Better if the c&p worked 🙄

The Daily Mail report that the governing body have said that referee MacDermid did NOT blow his whistle before the Light Blues took the lead”

  15. Who brought Matt to Celtic then ? Was he a project ? A first teamer ? A squader ?

Now that he becomes in form in a better team who takes the blame for that success ?

if we sell him for £25m+ whos fault is that.

  16. Thinking you do mean Southampton as Kilmarnock guy is a wide player really.

Do you think he has much to offer us ?

  17. Stuart, forgot about the Killie player,a couple of Championship teams interested in him

  18. The thought of playing the hns on Sep 1st without O’Riley and Hatate makes me want to vomit

  19. lets all do the huddle on

The Daily Mail report that the governing body have said that referee MacDermid did NOT blow his whistle before the Light Blues took the lead”

    so here’s a question.

and slightly backtracks on what i said yesterday about the scenario.

it takes time between a person deciding in their head to do something and them actually doing it.

so the ref had decided in his head that it was a foul, but by the time that thought filtered through to his mouth to blow the whistle the ball was in the net then the whistle sounded.

but the whistle definitely was for the ref wanting to blow for a foul.

    then var got involved.

unusual scenario. though it was never a foul anyway which is why i cant get too fussed about it

  20. Back to Basics - Glass Half Full on

Shootie-in so far at (Filbert Street I initially thought).

    Spurs all over Leicester.

    Camera pans to Oliver Skipp.

    Signed today for £20m + £5m.

As ordinary a midfielder as you’ll ever come across.

Matt is a bargain at £30m by comparison.
