KYOGO FURUHASHI is still waiting his first goal in French football after his £10million switch from Celtic to Rennes in January.
The Japanese international striker made a now-you-see-me-now-you-don’t substitute’s appearance in his side’s 3-0 win over struggling Angers at the weekend.
Kyogo was introduced to the action one minute into stoppage-time and was on the pitch for seven minutes before his new club claimed a crucial away Ligue 1 victory in their fight for survival.
ON THE OUTSIDE…Kyogo Furuhashi looks on as Arnaud Kalimuendo celebrates his late goal to make it 3-0 for Rennes at Angers.
They are now 12th in the 18-team division with 32 points from 27 outings, a massive 19 points ahead of rock-bottom Montpellier.
The man who scored 85 goals in three and a half years at Parkhead following his £4.6million arrival from J-League Vissel Kobe in July 2021 hardly had time to break sweat before the referee blew for full-time.
It’s been a frustrating couple of months for the 30-year-old frontman who is clearly not in the plans of head coach Habib Beye who took over as gaffer on January 30 – just three days after ex-boss Jorge Sampaoli signed the pacy attacker from the Hoops.
After firing blanks through February and March, Kyogo will be hoping for better luck in April with the next league encounter due on Sunday when Auxerre are the visitors.
