They all move on eventually but suggestions that Kyogo (29) will head to Urawa Red Diamonds in Japan this summer are fanciful. The player is at the peak of his powers and has just finished a season when he scored crucial goals against Newco that swung the most important games of the term, as well as scoring in the Champions League.
Every player has his price but Urawa Red Diamonds have only spent more than £2.5m once in their history, six years ago, and that was only €5m. They don’t pay the wages and they don’t pay the transfer fees to compete for Kyogo.
We are as well reporting that Ayr United would like to sign him. This is undoubtedly true, I even heard their manager on the radio on Saturday saying he hoped to sign some Celtic players. It’s going to be a long summer.
I’ve only just read that red diamonds are the most expensive diamonds you can buy. Who knew?

“The DD seems more likely – I think if there’s ever a time when the fiscal/signing policies go out the window there’s often an Irish connection.”
Do you think DD might consider the rumoured £18k pcm small change and worth it to have a friendly face (mole) inside the dressing room esp given the “unknown” manager at the time? Or do you think he was just misguided enough to think he was a good value signing on a footballing basis despite being considered past it and injury prone by most on here prior to his signing.
I often wonder why people think such signings are DD/Dom/PL etc signings – I guess because we are not clear about who/how we decide on such things. Ange was a month and a half in the door when McC and Super Joe joined at the start of August and he was working with a threadbare, young squad so I’d imagine he rubber stamped both signings if just for “experience”, though the suggestion might have still come from DD/Dom/PL/unknown scout/agent?

Interesting. Cheers.
For me, one of the most positive takeaways was the attendance increase in the Championship.
Encouraging. We need a strong second tier.
As most recent playoff shows, the Championship still has some way to go to match lower Premiership performance levels.
But, personally, the prospect of 17-18 very competitive, well run clubs creates an opportunity to expand the SPFL to 14 clubs.

Kyogo is a very good player. I don’t think he’ll be going anywhere soon. Also a very likeable and infectious character. Pity was don’t have a song for him. Hun media going full pelt to win the close season cup.
……………………
Regarding a song for Kyogo, it’s a no brainer. To the tune of “Oh Yoko”: Ky-o-go! Your goals will win the league!
Over to the songsmiths 🍀🍀🍀

AT,
Saw you posting the Celtic Exchange interview with Brian Dempsey.
A boy in work was telling me about the series and I wanted to listen to it in order.
I’ve just finished the David Low one and it’s amazing
————
i am listening to them all as well.
all very interesting, i thought lows comments were quite insightful – what you have is groups of people all sides , who actually do not like each other, have nothing really in common, dont mingle. but have one tning , they all want a better celtic, even the board, but they are more about family heritage and survival of that.
if your great granda was in the first celtic team, would you want it any other way.
jim orr was most excellent last night, such an articulate contributor.
10/10 to the series.
one after thought for me, it real time it was such a short period, as like the bankruprt story – it happened very slowly then very fast.
the rebuild itself, understandably took a longer time, but god only knows was corporate subterfuge was happening , bugged conference rooms ? spies in camps, players paid off the books /
nothing beneath urrays doing
Coneybhoy re Odsonne and Moussaka together.
Agreed.
I watched them together (admittedly) against a limited ex-Soviet country team (can’t recall who) in CL qualifiers.
They were awesome – I was very excited by the prospect of a hugely talented proper no.9 and smart “9½” together.
Shame.
A few days ago someone mentioned Moussa’s subsequent career.
I, too, expected him to become a £40-50m signing.
Started well at Lyon, but couldn’t keep the weight off.
A few days ago someone mentioned Moussa’s subsequent career.
was me,
for a lot of the med players, is their ambition some years progression in the big 5 leaguesm then semi retirement on a fortune in saudi aged 27l
see where eddie goes next.
why i bang on about real time attendnaces.
————–
for2023/24 league attendnaces celtic are in 15th place in europe at 58,553.
the stadium is occupied to 96.3% of capcity (60,832).
2,279 unoccupied seats every game but we are sold out, get it fixed celtic, let the people who want to attend get in, find a way.
———–
several teams have 99%+ attendances.
koln, frankfurt, hamburg, arsenal, schalke, spurs, west ham, man united, bayern, dortmund, feyenoord, newcastle.
as an aside, several others are modenising stadiums and increasing capacity.
let the people sing
sorry, 15th best IN THE WORLD

Kyogo…”we rush to discuss”
Nothing wrong with discussing his situation. He will not be here forever. However, I wouldn’t like to see him become a fixture on the bench, he doesn’t deserve that. So, if he’s not going to be Brendan’s first choice then let him go and replace. That’s the way things work.
I no longer get sentimental about players, I’ve been around too long for that. I eventually got over the sale of Paddy Crerand. That was a defining moment in sentimentality re footballers for me. Took me a while to recover from it. I almost changed my allegiance to the Bully Wee. 😉 Ange said it…’ don’t get too attached to your favourites.’

We need to play to Kyogo’s strengths, his runs off the ball into space, are as good as I’ve seen at CP, not for sale.

O’Riley doesn’t make Denmark Euros Squad

New GK? Not sure of source
I, for one, am happy that MOR hasn’t been chosen to play for Denmark at the EUROS. I hope he stays for at least another season and he will be better prepared with a good rest.

O’Riley doesn’t make Denmark Euros Squad
/////////////////////
Denmark know that O’Riley is playing in a clapped oot One horse league, or, Denmark have watched MOR become the invisible man since the Aberdeen ex manager showed everybody how man mark both MOR and Reo out of the game in the Scottish cup semi final. 👀️
….oot.
More chance of Matt going now…….
Que será, será but I think that Kyogo, Maeda and Hatate deserve a hell of a lot of credit for what they have brought to Celtic these last three seasons, on and off the park. Credit too to Postecoglou for signing them. The bloated Scottish media / pundits junketeers have minimised the Japan-Scotland connection that has emerged here and THEY should be talking this unique story up. Firstly in football terms; Kyogo for his skill and unpredictability, Hatate for his ball control and shot, Maeda for his alertness and his incisiveness. And they are all still learning and getting better in the cauldron of Scottish football. Secondly on a personal level, there could be more media exposure, of the contrasts in lifestyles with Japan and finding out about another culture. And if they don’t have any complexes about recency they could compare it to the Scandinavian Invasion as it was called in the 1960’s when Jerry Kerr at Dundee United brought players over from Denmark and Sweden. Many of whom ended up being bought by Rankers……as everybody up in freezin’ Scandinavia goes on Sunday to the ‘kirke’😁
I don’t see it that way, its about development, if MOR is happy to continue playing for Celtic then there is no issue as he has still to learn according to BR,if he wants to go you get the best fee possible plus a sell on, CL football and pressure to win all the time will push him at Celtic, International call ups to sit on a bench would do nothing to develop him further.
Yul Brynner was a Celtic supporter but didn’t wear aftershave.
That’s right
Yul never wore cologne 👍

The latter was like Greece lightening 😉
I don’t know where the idea emerged that the McCarthy family knows the family of Dermot Desmond.
James grew up in Castlemilk and played in the same school team as my nephew. I never saw Dermot kick a ball in the backcourts of Ardencraig, Scarrel, Dougie or Barlia.
Dermot started in banking so, again Castlemilk is an unlikely location for him, since all trace of bank branches have long been removed.
I suspect that some connection has been made between McCarthy being a common surname in Cork and Dermot being from there. Thus we have 2 plus 2 being transformed into the square root of minus 12.
Did I ever tell you of the time I saw Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos fighting over the last turkey at the Tormusk Co-op?

Is that extra large…I’ll get my coat 🏃➡️🏃♀️➡️🏃♂️➡️
“The bloated Scottish media / pundits junketeers have minimised the Japan-Scotland connection that has emerged here…”
I don’t think that’s true. The three you mention have been acknowledged and admired even by resident media huns such as Miller and Halliday. Kyogo is always mentioned in glowing terms as is Hatate, and Daizen is well noted for his work ethic and his tormenting of the R2ngers captain.
And we are now fast approaching the season of Kulture…

“Rangers, sadly, right now, have nothing to attract players with, not good players anyway.
We haven’t got the financial muscle, we haven’t got the league carrot, we haven’t got UCL (for sure) and we don’t win much.”
