KYOGO SHUNNED

KYOGO FURUHASHI was snubbed again as Rennes lost 1-0 at home to Auxerre yesterday.

The former Celtic striker, who joined the French club in a £10million deal in January, was an unused substitute as his team slumped to within six points of a relegation play-off place.

Head coach Habib Beye ignored the 30-year-old Japanese international as he utilised five players from the bench in an effort to get something from the Ligue 1 loss.

Last weekend, Kyogo made a fleeting appearance as he was sent on one minute into eight minutes of stoppage-time in the 3-0 win over Angers.

The man who scored 85 goals in three and a half years at Parkhead following his £4.6million arrival from J-League Vissel Kobe in July 2021 is still awaiting his first strike in France.

Kyogo clearly doesn’t figure in the plans of team chief Beye who took over as gaffer from Jorge Sampaoli on January 30 – just three days after the frontman arrived.
