KYOGO WHO? WHISPER IT, ENGELS IS CELTIC’S TON-UP BHOY

0

IT WENT unheralded in the midst of the 6-0 deluge against Dundee at Parkhead last night, but Arne Engels became Celtic’s ton-up Bhoy when he rolled in the opener via the penalty spot.

The Belgian midfielder, the club’s most expensive signing at £11million, completed the champions’ century of goals in all competitions with an immaculate strike low into Trevor Carson’s right-hand corner of the net.

That goal the ball rolling on another night of celebration under the lights in the east end of Glasgow as Brendan Rodgers’ men powered their way to an almost unassailable THIRTEEN point advantage at the Premiership pinnacle on their way to a fourth successive title.

WAIT FOR IT…£11million man Arne Engels prepares to take the crucial strike from the penalty spot as two Dundee opponents look on.

TON-UP BHOY…Arne Engels makes no mistake as he tucks a superb spot-kick low past Trevor Carson.

Ironically, it was Engels’ third successful spot-kick against the Tayside outfit in his debut campaign after joining for his record-breaking fee from Bundesliga club Augsburg on deadline day in August last year.

The international playmaker tucked one behind the unfortunate Carson in the club’s 2-0 win at Parkhead in October after Alistair Johnston had claimed the breakthrough strike.

And Engels repeated the feat from 12 yards in stoppage-time at Dens Park last month to rescue a point in a 3-3 stalemate.

The eye-catching 21-year-old ball artiste obviously enjoys sticking the ball in the Dundee net and he scored another in the second-half – the team’s fifth – with a brilliant long-range effort that completely flummoxed the stranded Carson.

It seems there is life after Kyogo Furuhashi, after all!

The Celtic fans have now seen their favourites score a highly laudable 105 goals in all competitions.

The breakdown in the parade of strikes is:

73: Premiership

17: League Cup

13: Champions League

2: Scottish Cup
