Ladbrokes SPFL use Level5 to dig into Celtic

656

Level 5, the PR company born out of the need to convince Newco fans to back one specific camp, have been given the Ladbrokes SPFL contract. Promotion of the SPFL is the responsibility of sponsor, Ladbrokes, who also pay for PR, this was not a decision by the league or member clubs.

Their brief is to manage the news and keep the words Ladbrokes SPFL in the news. Recent coverage has been a case in point.

Yesterday’s newspapers gave an excellent example of how this is operating.  Ladbrokes wanted their app promoted for free in the newspapers. Their Level 5 performed to task, the Evening Times ran with:

“Murdo was promoting a new Ladbrokes ’Track Your Acca’ app which allows punters to track their bets and cash out on the go – for full details log on to thegrid.ladbrokes.com”

While the Daily Record ran with:

“MacLeod was promoting a new Ladbrokes ‘Track Your Acca’ app that allows punters to track bets on the go – for full details log on to thegrid.ladbrokes.com”

Both a copy and paste from the press release.

Here’s the rub, though. The bait for both Ladbrokes adverts was Murdo having a go at two different Celtic players. The League’s sponsor is employing a PR company, who could have chosen any subject at 42 clubs, but they chose to have a dig at Celtic players.  Digging at Celtic players is one of the most reliable ways to ensure your comment runs in the newspapers.

That PR company just happens to be staffed by a former employee of a club who can hardly make a public comment without proclaiming their desire to bring down Celtic.

Ladbrokes got their promotion and two Celtic players were used as fuel, this is unacceptable. The League sponsor cannot employ a PR company who have enjoyed such a close relationship with a PR-dependent club, while undermining Celtic.

It is a fundamental conflict of interest and has to stop, Celtic cannot be cannon-fodder for the SPFL sponsor. Ladbrokes are representing the League on PR matters and cannot undermine the Celtic in this way.  The SPFL cannot allow their competition to be undermined by partisan promotion.

Let @Ladbrokes know your thoughts.

I remember the 4-3 game at Tynecastle well. It was a cold wintry day probably 1976. It was my first time in Reekie. Danny McGrain became my favourite player that day. The second half performance in the mud was immense.

Never saw yoor post mate, this JJ bloke seems on the ball, according to some on Twitter he’s a timposter, I’ve been told otherwise from sources on here. HH

John James most definately a Hun fan.Well known to many on Hun Media, and friends with Mc Murdo.

No doubt about it,and he is very in the know.

  3. Reading back and on page 6 and 7 there were questions relating to the stats on corners.

Firstly, the stats today were for domestic competition I.e. League and Cup. I have separate stats for Euro games.

Those remembering Boyata’s goals will be remembering the Euro games.

Secondly goals for and against at corners are only if they are scored from primary or secondary play. Which means that Kris Commons 2nd goal, 4th of the game, against Dundee United doesn’t count. I think it was about the fourth passage of play from the corner where he cut inside and shot into the far corner.

I’ll post the full stats tomorrow when I’m on the laptop.

  4. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

    Delaney’s , November 1976 it was.

I remember Kenny laying the ball off a lot with his chest at that game . Danny and Kenny linked up brilliantly for our third goal.

The Yesterday channel has who do you think you are with Julie Walters, on Her two great grandfathers, Anthony Clarke and Patrick O’Brien , were prominent members of the Irish Land League in Mayo.

She is well chuffed that both stood up to British landlords and their practices.

I’ll look forward to it, James will be on the bell for us, he’s eighteen and earning now :)

That Julie Walters story was very interesting

Her grandmother was very much involved in the ladies land league ( which came to the fore after the men were jailed)

Interesting reference to Marys Meals and the work Celtic supporters are doing with them with the very reason for our club forming.

Also the way Rangers tried to talk themselves out of the first ever meeting defeat – Celtic won 5-2. We shut them up when we went to Ibrox for the next game and won 6-1.

What is the stars , julie Walters comes from good stock.

Julie looked really chuffed about her great mother and great grandfathers involvement in the land league.

Annabe Goldie on question time, ACGR will be delighted.

Good night all and sleep well.

  15. So,

Seemingly, a cease and desist was lodged 3 months ago. In a manner that effectively placed it in a drawer, ready to be pulled out and placed on the table any time.

A wee port onion well placed in the embra legal life.

  16. Hello again all you young rebels.

Good solid result against the diets last night pity about the

last minute goal , somebody got dragged out of position i

think but well get it sorted i’m sure.

After the Molde debacle i think a lot of angry words have

been expressed hence more tensions on the training ground

than usual, I’ve got the feeling Aberdeen and the Norskies

are going to see a very determined Celtic in the next couple

    of games.

What a surprise eh? the dark side handing out P.R contracts

to their pals, some things never change do they? feel more

disgusted by some of our ex players contributions to their

agendas, thank god for guys like Tom Boyd , and Tosh who

don’t take a penny of their filthy lucre.

    …………………….

Just signed the petition to oust him and back the Celtic Trust by proxy to do same at AGM.

But while Livingstone is a tory Zionist with views that are abhorant to most of the Celtic support he is no worse than John Reid, another war-monger who I signed a petition against being Chairman.

The latter petition only gathered about 3,000 signatures if I remember correctly so my views are very much in the minority it would seem.

Compare and contrast with Brendan’s book.

For all the time he spent at Celtic and Dundee United, no sign of any such behaviour, that I know of.

Looks like a makey up verbal to me.
