Level 5, the PR company born out of the need to convince Newco fans to back one specific camp, have been given the Ladbrokes SPFL contract. Promotion of the SPFL is the responsibility of sponsor, Ladbrokes, who also pay for PR, this was not a decision by the league or member clubs.
Their brief is to manage the news and keep the words Ladbrokes SPFL in the news. Recent coverage has been a case in point.
Yesterday’s newspapers gave an excellent example of how this is operating. Ladbrokes wanted their app promoted for free in the newspapers. Their Level 5 performed to task, the Evening Times ran with:
“Murdo was promoting a new Ladbrokes ’Track Your Acca’ app which allows punters to track their bets and cash out on the go – for full details log on to thegrid.ladbrokes.com”
While the Daily Record ran with:
“MacLeod was promoting a new Ladbrokes ‘Track Your Acca’ app that allows punters to track bets on the go – for full details log on to thegrid.ladbrokes.com”

Here’s the rub, though. The bait for both Ladbrokes adverts was Murdo having a go at two different Celtic players. The League’s sponsor is employing a PR company, who could have chosen any subject at 42 clubs, but they chose to have a dig at Celtic players. Digging at Celtic players is one of the most reliable ways to ensure your comment runs in the newspapers.
That PR company just happens to be staffed by a former employee of a club who can hardly make a public comment without proclaiming their desire to bring down Celtic.
Ladbrokes got their promotion and two Celtic players were used as fuel, this is unacceptable. The League sponsor cannot employ a PR company who have enjoyed such a close relationship with a PR-dependent club, while undermining Celtic.
It is a fundamental conflict of interest and has to stop, Celtic cannot be cannon-fodder for the SPFL sponsor. Ladbrokes are representing the League on PR matters and cannot undermine the Celtic in this way. The SPFL cannot allow their competition to be undermined by partisan promotion.

Beatbhoy hope you are right. The best team don’t always win the Cups as we well know but this all black team is full of genuine grafters and winners. All of them down to earth athletes no prima donnas and five retiring after this game so the stars are aligned. Think of a whole Country feeling the same way about a team as we feel about Celtic. Cease and Desist
The conflict between Mike Ashley and King’s concert party has escalated. If informed speculation is accurate, Sports Direct Retail Ltd (SD) have now issued a ‘cease and desist’ interdict against RIFC. King’s inability and downright refusal to honour the £5m owed to SD, has forced their hand. The terms of the loan facility included ceding control of the intellectual property, the training facility known as Murray Park, Edmiston House and The Albion Road Car Park.
The car park, which affords access to, and emergency egress from, the Club Deck, is a prerequisite of planning permission. An SD cease and desist order effectively mothballs 7,000 seats. The intellectual property, the badges and crests, must also be removed from the players’ shirts or in some way obscured from view.
Of course this could be settled with a late offer of £5m that King claimed he had access to. But he was, as we have come to expect, lying. King, who led the underfunded unsuccessful coup d’etat, will naturally oppose this interdict and find himself instructing significantly inferior counsel to Mr Ashley’s retained counsel, Adam Lewis QC. Mr Lewis is without peer in sports tort litigation.
Of all the theories as to what prompted King’s clandestine emergency board meeting, I find this one to be the most persuasive. The terms of the loan facility, which King breached when losing the AIM listing, ceded control of all the fixed assets with the exception of the stadium.Mike Ashley is King’s landlord.
Of course, when RIFC comply with this interdict, having thrown good money after bad in litigation, should King still continue to renege on his corporate debts, the ultimate sanction of appointing receivers could then come into play.

Interesting thoughts on why our illustrious chairman had a whistle-stop whirlwind tour, without the usual fanfare that normally greets ‘oh one of mighty importance’, well in his own mind anyhow :)
I have tried second guessing what Mike Ashley will or wont do for the past 2+ years …. and to date, the only thing I have got correct is …that he will do nothing, say nothing and bide his time. All along we have never been privy to a statement of intent from big Mike in any way shape or form, which to me was the main reason people did not take him in, so by that fact….I think he will do nothing and say nothing.
Now, perhaps by doing nothing and saying nothing at this time is exactly the straw that will break the beleaguered camels back. I wholly believe his last rant was to try and provoke and action from big Mike…. something he could point at to his many lemmings and say…” it was big Mikes fault…. we didnae do anything it was the big bad Mike and SD” …….setting a seed that he is hoping will germinate and grow between the empty lugs of his blind faith followers.
I saw exactly the same tactic being used by the ‘King of Spin’ Tony Blair last week….. getting his little bit out there first before the enquiry results are published….. not saying Glib & Shameless are on a par with our former PM, but the ‘sweep and deflect’ tactics usually start with some statement totally out of the blue…. like his pathetic attempt the other day to smear MA/SD …and to start laying the blame at their door.
I am with you, and along with many others, firmly believe there is something pretty awful going to come out very soon….. no idea what it may be, the list is pretty long and pretty damming…… but something has made oor Dave lose sleep and force him to use up one of his allowed days in the UK……and like you, I think the sticking plasters are starting to lose their stickiness and beginning to peel off.
We can but guess how bad our financial position at this moment really is….. but even giving it a plus/minus of 20% ….we are still a basket case and in serious need of finances….. that ‘war chest and uncountable funding’ as promised by our Glib & Shameless liar SEVEN MONTHS ago…… yes people it has been that long and to date…. not one brass farthing has come to us……. and I for one do not expect any…. such are the lies this man has spun.

I have had to watch the pied piper play his tunes and the lemmings jump off the cliff in awe at him……. which is the most appalling thing in all of this…. we had SDM, and didn’t learn a damn thing…… we had Whyte the ‘off the scale wealthy Ranger man’ and didn’t learn a damn thing…….. we had Green a man who trusted and to a certain degree agreed with and didn’t learn a damn thing until it was too late….. and now we have Glib & Shameless, who makes Attila the Hun’s rap sheet look rather powder puff…. and we as a collective didn’t learn a damn thing…. well once, pretty unlucky….. twice is really bad form as lessons should have learned….. three times is an absolute joke and probably unheard of in any business…… but to save the absolute worst until last…. well it beggars belief…so maybe the turkeys did vote …and their Christmas is just round the corner.
The one thing that amazes and disgusts me most in all of this is the treatment of the only honest and fair minded businessmen that have tried hard to put us on the right course…. each and every one of them has been ridiculed and lied about to disgrace them for the benefit of our rabble board…. from Sarver to Ashley…. from LLambias to Easdale….shocking and nothing short of scandalous…. so whatever befalls us very soon, don’t forget all of those who tried hard, from us bloggers, to honest business men…..”Never was so much owed by so many to so few” should have been our lasting memory instead of “Never was so much owed by so few to so many”

If the John James poster is correct about the Cease and Desist thing. I think it’s a clear indication that MA is absolutely not interested in anything other than the retail deal. At least until the court case is resolved.
I have to say that I’ve been briefly dipping back into their forums since he appeared and if MA did fully take control I think the place would be deserted and a merchandise boycott would be in place. They do not like him one bit. So he’s maybe reached the conclusion that the money to be made isn’t worth his effort on any level, and if they go down completely he’s really not losing too much. Also there seems to be a few less heads in the sand this time. Some of them are starting to sound concerned and not just writing it all off as ‘bitter timmy nonsense’, although most are.
Here’s a question. If MA has decided they’re not worth saving, who’s going to do it?
