GUSTAF LAGERBIELKE faces a summer in limbo as he ponders his soccer future.
The Swedish centre-back, who cost £3million when he joined Celtic from Elfsborg in the summer of 2023, spent last term on loan at Twente Enschede.
He played 22 games in the Eredivisie – more than THREE times his league appearances for his Hoops – and it was hoped a permanent deal could be struck.
However, Lagerbielke is on his way back to Parkhead, where he is under contract until June 2028, and the Dutch club are lining up a move for Ibrox flop Robin Propper, according to a report in The Scottish Sun.
PARADISE LOST…£3million man Gustaf Lagerbielke will be on the move again in the summer.
It appears Twente are going for the cheap option for their former defender who spent just one season in Scotland after being bought by Philippe Clement, who, of course, was sacked in February.
Barry Ferguson stopped in as a stop-gap gaffer until the end of the campaign and Russell Martin was confirmed as the latest Govan team chief yesterday.
It seems one of his first tasks will be to sell 31-year-old Propper who cost £2.5million when he arrived from Twente and is poised for a quickfire return to the Netherlands after 39 appearances in all competitions.
Reports suggest the Ibrox club will accept half of their original financial outlay.
It’s clear Lagerbielke, capped three times by Sweden, doesn’t feature in Brendan Rodgers’ first-team plans and he is likely to be on the move again – either on a temporary or permanent basis – before the start of the new season.
