Rangers administrators, Duff and Phelps, were as recently as yesterday briefing media that they hoped to conclude the sale of Rangers before the end of the season – which is their game against St Johnstone on Sunday.
Late Friday morning this seems unlikely but it is an important deadline. If Rangers morph into a Newco and are given permission by the SFA and SPL to take the field against St Johnstone on Sunday, any player who participates will have transferred his employment to Newco. Newco would then be able to retain his services for the length of his Rangers contract or would be able to sell him to fund a trading shortfall.
If a Newco is formed after Sunday, players have two months to decide if they want to join the company or remain Rangers employees until redundancy or until Rangers fail to pay wages.

The vote on 30/5 is on whether to change the rules – this would make it a clubs decision rather than a Board decision on any newco application.
The vote will not be on whether to admit the newco. Right now there is no newco let alone an application for it to take the huns’ share.
Does TBK ‘walking away’ again mean that Dodgy and Dodgier know that a CVA is out the box?

Former Premier League star Magnus Hedman has revealed he was pushed to the verge of suicide after succumbing to drug addiction at the end of his career.
The ex-Sweden international reckons he has blown his £5million fortune on cocaine, amphetamines and sedatives.
He told a Swedish newspaper: “Today, my economy’s very bad. I can’t give you an exact figure, but I’ve burned everything that’s not in pension funds.”
The drug and financial problems have taken their toll. He added: “I thought several times to take my life – and I got really, really close at one point.”
Despite getting a job as a Swedish TV pundit soon after retiring, the former Coventy and Celtic keeper struggled to adjust to life without football.
He said: “After playing, I had a very good life, I was a commentator on TV.
“But there was no crowd, there was no winning or losing, so I could sit on my way home from a successful broadcast and still be missing something.
“There was a concern all the time and I could not appreciate what I had.”
That’s when he first turned to drugs.
He continued: “I got hooked the first time. I always thought I was strong and could handle almost anything, but it was not so.”
After losing his TV job, Hedman became increasingly reliant on a sleeping pill called Stilnoct.
More controversy followed when, in 2009, he was found guilty of taking an illegal anabolic steroid. And last year he was fined 2500 kronor for sleeping with a prostitute.
Hedman says he is “destitute” and cannot afford maintenance payments to his estranged pop star wife Magdalena
