LATVIA FOR LENNY AND CO

CELTIC are heading to Latvia on Thursday as they face Riga in their Europa League third qualifying encounter.

The tie was eventually settled this morning after storms forced last night’s game against San Marino’s Tre Fiori to be abandoned in the first-half with the score goalless, as CQN reported.

The kick-off, earlier than the anticipated 10am start, saw Riga press home their advantage with a 57th-minute goal from the team’s Portuguese midfielder Pedrinho the difference between the sides. It was a hard-fought battle with the visitors having five players booked as the teams fought for the right to face Neil Lennon’s men.

It was crucial the tie was completed this morning with UEFA poised to hold the draw for the next round of the competition’s qualifiers this afternoon.

Now things are a bit clearer with the Hoops travelling to Latvia which, of course, will push back the home Premiership encounter against Hibs to Sunday with a 3pm kick-off.
