My friends in Celtic, we are the laughing stock of the football world. This status has been achieved by becoming the soft touches of Scottish football. Dundee United can only win one game in 11? Not to worry, we’ve Celtic next. St Mirren only won two games in 10? Chill, it’s Celtic at Hampden. United are so poor, that win of theirs came against an even-poorer St Mirren.
Three weeks ago we were hot favourites for the league, with a nine-point advantage over Newco. We still have an advantage, but a third place finish is now as likely as any other outcome. Maybe you always fancied a crack at the Conference League?
Last night’s game at Tannadice encapsulated so much of the story. Celtic were scintillating for much of the first half and could have had the game won. It is not Wilfried Nancy’s fault that the squad is short of an experienced striker who would have made that a reality.
However, Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin, figured out what Celtic were doing at halftime and turned the tables. Celtic were completely nullified from the start of second period. The equaliser on 58 minutes was more than merited, as Celtic were unable to clear their lines until then. Both United goals came from pressure after a corner kick. That’s five goals in four games from corners Celtic have conceded. Maybe playing with only one central defender for the first time this century is a bit too radical?
Goodwin in not alone. Derek McInnes figured out the same thing for Hearts earlier this month. His side were battered for the opening 30 minutes, changed to suit the Celtic formation and had their easiest game at Celtic Park for a long time. St Mirren’s Stephen Robinson had seen enough to know what to do before he arrived at Hampden on Sunday. Celtic’s formation made it easy for all three.
This period has encouraged our opponents. Newco and Hearts were broken at the beginning of this month. Today they are invigorated and they will approach each game, as well as the January transfer window, with renewed appetite. Celtic are there for the taking and everyone knows it. I am getting “What is going on?” messages from across the world; we are world news. This scale of capitulation is that exceptional.

We are not optimising our resources. No argument there.
A very simple question for you :- Do you not think collective singing at a new manager from overseas to GTF is not hunlike ?

“The Foundation with support from Celtic are true to the purpose for which Celtic were created and it wasnt to play football.
That became the means to carry out the original purpose”
——–
Nice one, Auldheid
Genuine questions to all.
What makes Celtic great?
What makes Celtic different from others?
BTW – if your view in part is “not the board”? … works for me.
What then?
Increasingly common phenomena in modern post-truth, internet based society.
1. The justification defence for everything …
A key plank of whataboutary and, itself, a consequence of …
2. Unwillingness to take personal responsibility for one’s conduct or behaviour and hold oneself to a standard.
The board made me feel this way. It’s their fault.
We did this but the board did worse
Yes, they shouldn’t have behaved that way at Tannidice … but
Hey ho.
Michael Nicholson — what has been his contribution since he joined Celtic in 2013.
He was made interim CEO on Sept 2021 and permanent in Dec 2021.
He has been 4 years in role earning £826k per year basic with LTIP and 30% bonus as a minimum on top. It will be in the annual report.
A rough summary over his 12 year tenure he has made £5-6M out of the club. Of course he wants to stay in role but now realises it’s all at risk as the fans rebel. He is now in survival mode so what is his game plan ?
– Defend the manager as he is a buffer from the support. He went all in on the Nancy punt and his removal will put him next in the firing line.
– Blame the support for everything which he knows will create further anger and he will use this for draconian measures to be put in place
– Ban the green brigade and any other groups who put their heads above the parapet
– Hire a Head of Security and draft a role remit to which deals with the malcontents
– Ban all fan media including women
– Hire a PR company and push messages out via Pravda TV targeting the fans
He now sees it is not enough and he can’t stem the tide especially with Lawwell exiting. He has only card left to play keep Nancy in role even if it means 3rd place. As long as Nancy is in role he picks up his million a year.
DD wakey wakey …. Your investment is in the toilet with this charlatan.
GP
zero comparison with Liverpool other than number of games lost
but agreed 100% – hunlike behaviour and not helpful
Greenpinata….after 4 capitulations in a row with a team set up that everyone can see is unsuited for this squad…then yes…fans are entitled to express themselves….you disagree?
H.H.
and just to clarify – was referring to the WN GTF chants only
New post in from a D. Trump
“It’s about destroying Celtic so others can’t enjoy it as far as I can see. Or maybe just being angry with the world and showing they can do this.”
What is wrong with this guy? In what world would handed and thousands of supporters want to destroy Celtic? Perhaps part of the destroy strategy is to buy a ST for 30 yrs, shares, merch, Celtic TV and give up half your free time to follow Celtic which in fact is a cloak for the actual plan which is to destroy Celtic? What a plan that is.
You can’t debate with someone like this, it’s a complete waste of your time…….tragic
Chants directed at a new manager are distasful, though jot the cause of our malaise.
We know what it is, well many of us do and have been saying so for many many months and seasons
Never waste a crisis. Would now be a good time to reset the footballing side?
Is the time now right for a DoF role? It was always risky when we were on top. Not now
Let’s plan for the next 5 years. Any knee jerk reaction to our fumbling four would just be more short termism and leave us with another rebuild come the summer
The Lurking Tim.
I refer you to my previous comment this morning:-
“I would never stop fans expressing their feelings. If they choose to to castigate the team and manager when at their lowest ebb, then so be it.
But I feel its not helpful, it’s not supportive and it’s not what is needed at this time”
HH.
Shouting GTF is not the problem. (Grow a set you absolute wallopers)
Wilfried Nancy is not the problem.
The problem is those in charge. They are the cause of both.
Anything else is deflection, transparent, but to be expected from those indulging in this behavior.
Greenpinata – “ I have seen many crushing defeats in my years following Celtic ( PSG stands out ) and I was gutted, but never ashamed’.
You’ve hit upon an important point of difference. If we are beaten on Sunday you, I and a great many others will be consumed by deep disappointed. They will be consumed by deep hatred.
That’s a world of difference.
We are angry at Nancys refusal to bend his tactics to suit his squad
A back 3 of KT, Trusty and Ralston?????
The repeated back 3 selections are madness
And thats the tip of the spear
He is getting abuse for his terrible management of a terrible squad
Glenowen: Is the time now right for a DoF role?
We’ve had one for more than a year: https://www.celticfc.com/news/2024/october/16/paul-tisdale-appointed-celtic-s-head-of-football-operations/
Michael Nicholson said: “Talent identification and talent development, from our Academy through to our first team, is of fundamental importance to the club’s strategy, and Paul has tremendous expertise in these areas.”
In Tisdale’s 12 years as manager at Exeter City, the club’s academy produced Olly Watkins and Ethan Ampadu, players who earn a good living in the EPL. (Ampadu is the son of our new Assistant Manager who was Exeter’s U18 coach for a time under Tisdale)
Exeter’s Analytics function is a recent development, utilising fan analysts on an informal basis. There is no evidence that Exeter used an Analytics function at all during his time.
After leaving Exeter in 2018, he managed MK Dons, winning promotion from League 2 in his first season before a painful 4 months in League 1.
After that he lasted 3 months at Bristol Rovers in League 1, then had a 4 months stint at Stevenage in L2. Across the two clubs he won 8 matches from 40 played.
He had a 2 months stint as Technical Advisor at Colchester in between.
There is no record of him having any role at any club in the period from March 2022 until he rocked up at Celtic.
And that’s the sum of the man’s “tremendous experience in these areas”.
Imagine appointing a guy to a senior role in a high profile company in a complex sector and the guy you appoint has no meaningful credentials or experience for the job.
I’d love to now what swung the interview for him.
Another modern day phenomenon
Judging others from a position of ignorance and doing so confidently.
“Pray, don’t find fault with the man that limps,
Or stumbles along the road.
Unless you have worn the moccasins, he wears,
Or stumbled beneath the same load.
There may be tears in his soles that hurt
Though hidden away from view.
The burden he bears placed on your back
May cause you to stumble and fall, too.
Don’t sneer at the man who is down today
Unless you have felt the same blow
That caused his fall or felt the shame
That only the fallen know”
(Mary Lathrap)

Maybe Tisdale is a golfer???

What is the Collective end game?
No Answers – plenty questions
Do i have to sit with people who wish Celtic Directors are dead and think its ok to assault family members?
I read that our esteemed director of football operations is using this excellent moment to go off on holiday. Unfortunately while he’s on the beach sipping his pinacolada , He has left the gas on at home and all the taps running with the plugs in .
Deflection the orderr of the day.Yesterday our Board, literally told us all, they are willing to sacrifice the league in this vaingloriious attempt,to do what?.Play a different style? Its not exactly new,3-4-3,but up until now,4 games in,our manager has contrived to make a Pigs Ear out of something a Manager over at Motherwell has perfected in a matter of months.
This Board through, pig headedness against BR and their frugal way of operating, cost us around £20 million in CL Money.Again this season, they are determined to lose the same again on this gamble. Are you?.
This is madness, and no amount of deflection about fans behaviour,or fantasy stories about threats, will change my opinion. Others can flip flop all they want.We are in serious trouble this season.Waken up.
TBB @ 10:00
Just to clarify … my 10:04 was not a response to your 10:00 … even though it followed your immediately.
Your setting out of what appears to be a palpably weak resumé is structured, coherent and factual.
Reading some beauties from the deflect brigade.
Wanting the team to lose.
Wanting Board members to die.
Board members and families being threatened and assaulted. The old bigoted, cheating Referees slant.
TB,
There is much more to Celtic than mandatory winning of the league.
Winning is great and we all welcome it, however it should not a pre-requsite of our support.
HH.
The idea that a Celtic fan can shout at a new manager four games in, in the way it was sung on Wednesday is abhorrent to every decent Celtic fan, por cierto.
I would wait a bit for the full story before piling in on Paul Tisdale. If the rumour is true I wouldn’t come back to work for Celtic again if I was him.
Whether you think the job they are doing is good enough or not were making it very difficult for the key people at the club to do their jobs. Replacing PT or WN with quality will be one almost impossible if we hound them out.
Failure might have been coming but we’re making it a certainty, but more importantly, by dehumanizing the people we think are our enemies we’re hurting real people who are just doing their jobs.
Maybe I’m naive but it doesn’t feel very “Celtic” to me
Rumours, rumours, fairy tales and outright lies.
Paying customers have every right to shout what they wish.
Yesterday on TalkSport, Jim White & Simon Jordan once again devoted the first part of the show (from 10.00am) to the travails of Celtic FC, Manager, Chairman and results. There were three Celtic supporting callers all with different perspectives of where the club is now. First up was Michael, representing the Green Brigade, who finally, when pressed by SJ agreed, reluctantly it seemed to me, that there no place for “intimidation”. His main argument against the Board however was the “lack of a Five Year Plan”. Remind me, was that not part of resolution 16/17 @ the AGM, before the petitioners disrupted it, before we got as far as that? Thing is the very idea of Green Brigade/5 Year Plan, wee bit cognitive dissonance there. No? Not unless they were advocating a Joe Stalin – Chairman Mao style plan as opposed to the one Fergus McCann actually carried out. When further pressed by SJ that the logic of supporting the removal of the Chairman (Pete not Mao) was that the whole Board had to go. To which Michael replied…..”It’s a start”
That’s one way of looking at it.
Before Pistolero called a halt to proceedings.
It’s called “Hitting off difficult questions at the pass”
It would be those of low intellect, pertaining otherwise, who would see it as anything else.

Auldheid….have you been hacked….fortitude is exactly understanding why what’s going wrong and changing it
/====
I meant the lack of it as in
courage in pain or adversity
By that I meant bearing the pain without lashing out and blaming others
Or
Grow a set.
Yesterday I was looking for a document and came across this.
I had totally forgotten Celtic had gone through this in 2009/10 and it was my experience of that which set me looking for unity.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ptU3MTk3HbN0eGpxBQHn-6oF_44xzppzmeIOCbTNiuY/edit?usp=sharing
It was about belonging and is as much relevant today as it is now. That be longing feeling is waning and if it goes Celtic are in a very bad way.
Celtic lived through that and will live through this.
Perhaps my experience then is giving me the fortitude to deal with now without lashing out or blaming.
Its a great pity my Membership Scheme idea was overtaken by the Fans Forum and my suggested update on it has no traction from supporters like David Low whose new venture can only speak for shareholders.
