This morning, Celtic announced an Academy link with a Sydney-based organisation to deliver a youth tournament ahead of the club’s visit there in November. Since the Ange Coming Home Tour deal was signed, the club have been looking at ways to broaden our footprint in Australia. Where you see ‘youth football tournament’, I am inclined to read, ‘laying down commercial roots’.
Our domestic market is fixed and, if anything, is likely to be butchered with young eyeballs migrating to the English Premier League. The great waves of Scottish migration to Australia and North America have been little more than trickle for decades. There is just not the same number of ex-pats there to sustain valuable streams.
Ignore these demographic trends and Celtic will shrink. It is difficult to swim against the EPL tide, but whatever we can do to irrigate new territories is worth trying. The more obvious question is what to do about Japan? I don’t see encouraging signs of building a Celtic oasis there. Pity.

Thanks for your kind words Celts,
Scullybhoy am no different from any other Celtic fan,it’s the easiest thing to do.Shout if you make a trip over for a game,it’s always good to put a face to a moniker who adds to the Celtic knowledge, and you do.
HH
Nottingham Forest are 2nd bottom, 17 conceded in 7 games
Scott McKenna was Nottingham Forest player of the season 21-22.
Forest have signed a massive 21 players as they try to keep their EPL status. None of the 21 players have replaced McKenna who has established himself as a full international.
Certainly worth a punt of circa £3.5m when we bid for him.
HH
GP- i think we offered £6 million, Aberdeen wanted £10 million seemingly, never rated him
McKenna is a dud .Play to his right slow as milk turning.

Who is that Bhoy?
BB
I thought we offered circa £ 3.5 m . I could be wrong.
I honestly don’t know how he would have progressed with us as he needed a lot of coaching.
But I felt the raw tools were there.
It’s all about opinions.
Cheers and HH.
I’ll leave you one that is impossible.

We offered £6mill for SMcK — surely not / world has gone mad.
Through the looking glass of £7mill for CJ in 2019 it might make some sort of sense.
However not in the real world.
Limited but effective player.
Makes JH look like a true footballing CB.
That would be the half finished JH that is slowly growing in confidence.
CB pairing — SMcK + JH vs CCV + CS — discuss?
CCV + JH looks like the most classically set up pairing.
It might work but I think SCS would be selling a lot of couches.

I only see one Celt and I think he is Simon Lynch son of Andy.

John Colquhoun signed for Celtic from Stirling Albion for a fee of £50,000 in November 1983, walking off a building site to join his boyhood heroes to become a footballer and never looked back; he had been a painter and decorator too. His father (also né John) was on Celtic’s books from 1957-59 but didn’t play for the first team, but did make his name with Oldham.

Aliadière, Arsenal guy
You keep clutching at these hearsay and gossip straws to try and make some nonsense argument.
The argument I am making is that your partial gossip is as unreliable as mine and Peter Grant’s or John Collins. Do you think that is nonsense? Can you explain why yours trumps the others?
Yet, Stuart Armstrong had been sold at the end of June
Brendan Rodgers repeatedly said he wanted to strengthen the midfield, he repeated in many interviews he gave throughout July that he wanted the Hibs player, he made no other bids for SA’s replacement outside John McGinn
You and I have no idea if John McGinn was the only midfielder we were interested in or how near to a bid it was. It would be daft, would it not, to select one target and say “Get me him- at any price-no other will do and don’t take no for an answer!” . Do you believe there was no Plan B?- no other player interest? Would that be a wise way to behave? I think BR was brighter than that. In that summer window we did lose Stuart Armstrong (and Paddy Roberts, And, because of machinations, Moussa Dembele) and a few fringe players. We also successfully recruited Benkovic, Mulumbu, Arzani, Benyu , Izzaguire (2nd spell)and Lewis Morgan, We also saw the return from loan spells of Ryan Christie, Tony Ralston and Scott Allan. Now many of those were not very successful with us but they were bought and recruited under BR’s eye and without any notable demur from him. Saved was 6 months in the future that summer. So, this was not a “John McGinn Window”. This was not a one man midfield purchase; it was full team recruitment. It annoys us because McGinn proved to be better than he was rated up here and Mulumbu, Arzani and Morgan were not. Thankfully, Ryan Christie proved to be an adequate replacement for the lost Armstrong, even though neither are quite as good as John McGinn.
At the end of the transfer window big Pedro brought in Mulumbu on a free.
What are you suggesting, that really BR was lying about wanting to bring McGinn in because he secretly coveted Mulumbu!
See above- we had potential replacements for Armstrong in McGinn, Christie, and Mulumbu. McGinn wasn’t landed, Mulumbu was n’t good enough. Ryan Christie was- at least for a while.
Your point makes no sense does it.
I think we call that a rhetorical question
Brendan Rodgers fell out with that paragon of virtue Moussa Dembele – Remember all the times he was “injured”, not often for the big games mind, never for France U21.
Do you know while MD was at Celtic a quarter of the games he played in were for France U21. He was maneuvering for a transfer, he was only interested in himself.
I have no idea if Moussa is a more reliable or truthful person than Brendan. Do you? I know that Moussa left on easier terms with the Celtic support than Brendan.
Moussa was with us for 2 seasons- he played 55 times for us, (29 and 25 times respectively in those 2 seasons and 1 game in the season he left). That is no sick note.
Between 2016-19 he played 25 times for France u-21 but that includes one season where he was with Lyon.
As for manoeuvring for a transfer and only thinking of himself, well both he and BR may be guilty of that, and many other players and managers, but he blew the gaff on BR’s offer to take him with him to a future un-named club (China?- I doubt the young Moussa would have gone to China with BR- so where would that have been). Either way, Moussa specifically charged Brendan, and not Celtic, with the act of betraying a promise.
Now, that is the end of any sense or nonsense that I can post on the matter as I’m off for 2 weeks tomorrow on my travels as part of my devious plan t leave nothing to the kids in my will.
You can all stop cheering now.

When Aliadière was at Celtic, he was going out with a page 3 model.
A guy came into my Dad’s work (Edinburgh) and was chatting with him about hiring conference space, and then asked for direction to Glasgow. My Dad obliged, then asked where in Glasgow, and he said Celtic Park.
The guy then talked about how his model daughter is going out with a Celtic player. Then he said that he has some autographed photos in his car, and did my Dad want one. Why not. Aliadière was pretty crap but impolite to turn it down.
The guy then came back into the office with a signed photo of his model daughter, topless :O)

Name the goalscorer.
SFtBs @ 3:49 PM,
Ok, let me break it down for you again.
Brendan Rodgers wanted to replace “quality with quality”, in the 2018 summer transfer window.
He did not want any of Big Pedros projects, prospects or loanees.
He wanted four players…
A left back, a centre half, a centre midfield player and a forward.
He secured the forward when OE’s loan was converted to a full contract
He didn’t get anyone else he wanted, the negotiations were left to Big Pedro and he screwed them up.
He made a particularly bad pigs ear of the John McGinn bid – totally amateur hour (month and a half).
Even worse than the Toney debacle.
So to summarise – Brendan Rodgers targetted John McGinn as one of his main signings, JMcG would have “walked over broken glass” to play for Celtic, he was the Scottish bargin of the decade.
And yet Big, bulldog, Pedro still managed to cock up the deal. Ok…
Enjoy you flight and your break, and relax, take it easy, no stress, no anxiety. It’s a simple life, keep it real.

One thing is definitely on the record. When Brendan was told that McGinn was at Villa Park for a medical, he phoned the player in an attempt to salvage a move to Celtic, only for McGinn to tell him that he had given Villa his word and wouldn’t go back on it. Brendan thanked him for listening and wished him every success for the future.
All of which tells me Brendan was very keen on signing McGinn and was extremely disappointed at not getting his man.
SCULLYBHOY
Keep ‘‘em coming
Nice to get Celtic related stuff in amongst a sea of yellow pish
TOM MCLAUGHLIN @ 5:36 PM,
Yes, that certainly rings true.
It was a miss by the Celtic hierarchy, to drag it down into a sordid affair with the player and Club managers getting their names blackened is very poor from my prospective.
