Taylor did alright as did the rest of the defence . Felt sorry for Scales who got rolled for their first goal . He had played well but was clearly knackered in those last 10 minutes .
No, our problems were in the offensive side of things . The most lethal goalscorer on the pitch hardly got a look in .

We play St Johnstone on Saturday. We played Motherwell last week.
How anyone can raise the game to CL level in between is hard to fathom. It’s about more than just spending money.
No teams from the smaller leagues will qualify this season except those in a group where there are more than 2 smaller nations involved.

A poor side which cost a fair few Bob more than ours. That is for sure.
A poor side no weekend than the one second in serie A last season. A team which beat Inter last season. Inter who went toe to toe with Man C in the final.

With 5 minutes to go in the first half we had completed more passes (207 to Lazios 174) and had 54% possession, all along the back line though.
We need to get back to 1 & 2 touch football and moving the ball FORWARD
geebee1978 on
No dropping into the EL in the new format next season so we need to get used to this.

At 80 minutes gone, In my naievity I said to my son that we might steal this. Lazio looked devoid of ideas and we were seeing more of the ball. 82 minutes Kyogo loses the ball in a dangerous area. They break and a Deflected shot lands at the feet of the most dangerous striker on the pitch who has a tap in. 2 mins later 2-0.
I should have known better. It’s what we always do in Europe. I salute our fantastic supporters.

Most of those passes were across the back line
I would reckong that scales and ccv have the most successful passes in our team
You’re right
We need to get passing forward and not across and backwards
Mcgregor points far too much for this type of pass…

My point is we play 6 games at this level each season. Other big nation teams play at close to this level many more times domestically.
For many years I have felt this is PSGs issue re winning the CL. Not enough really tough competition at the higher level domestically. Similar problem but at a higher level.

We cannot catch a break heading for 0.0 a deflection which could have went anywhere falls perfect for their striker, after that Scales was terrible at the second tries to jump and gets rolled when he has to stay strong and goal side. Nothing between the teams on the night but we lose again, the few chances we had were blown kyogo twice and Yang has to head the ball at goal instead he bulleted a lay back with his head.

Lazio did what they set out to do. Manage the first hour then bring Immobile and Pedro on to win the game. They dispatched us without much fuss tonight. That for me is the story of the group.
We’d be fooling ourselves to say we’ve competed in almost all the games. Our opponents have been patient and waited for us to inevitably implode before going on to see out the game comfortably. All the teams have played us in spells and allowed us to have a lot of the ball.
I suspect the package next season will need to be very, very, reasonably priced or they’re will be empty seats at CP.

Celtic and Rangers were on average the most expensive clubs to visit for away supporters in last season’s Champions League, according to a new study.
Average prices for fans visiting Celtic Park and Ibrox were just below Uefa’s price cap of 70 euros (£61) for away tickets in Europe’s elite competition.
Celtic’s average was 69.45 euros with Rangers marginally lower at 68.85.
Celtic charged the maximum away ticket price of 70 euros three times, while Rangers did so twice.
The study was carried out by Football Supporters Europe (FSE), which says the cost of away tickets in the Champions League and Uefa’s other club competitions remains “stubbornly high”, but that there was significant variation between countries.
Away tickets were sold at the price cap at more than 18 per cent of Champions League matches last season, with the average away ticket price in the 2022-23 competition being 47 euros (£41).
FSE found 12 of the 32 teams in last season’s Champions League group phase charged the maximum away ticket price of 70 euros at least once during the season.
European champions Manchester City did so on six occasions. Despite that fact City were the eighth-cheapest club to visit in the Champions League, with away tickets averaging at slightly more than 40 euros (£35).
Tickets were sold at the Europa League’s 45 euro (£39) price cap at a quarter of matches in the competition, with the average away ticket price just under 30 euros (£26).
Away ticket prices in Germany were more than 20 euros cheaper than the competition average, with standing sectors a big contributor to the reduction. Some tickets were priced as low as 15 euros (£13).
Only one game in Germany was charged at the top of the away price cap, compared to 16 in Spain, 10 in Italy, and nine in England.
FSE executive director Ronan Evain said: “It is FSE’s firm position that clubs have a responsibility to reward the loyalty of travelling fans and to facilitate affordable pricing, especially considering the increase of revenue for all clubs during the next Champions League cycle.”
The 70 euro price cap for the Champions League was introduced by Uefa in 2019 as clubs were charging as much as 119 euros (£103) to away supporters for match tickets in the 2018-19 season.
The price cap for the Europa Conference League was set at 25 euros (£21.50) prior to the start of this season.

In fact, i dont think we have a midfielder who is comfortable taking a pass, beating a man or driving forward (hatate only).
i’d try Palma in that role – he’s technically gifted and would certainly pick out the runners
