Legal term of the day: uttering

751

Since Corinthians FC gave up the good fight football has largely been a brutish game.  Even those supporters, who are unable to raise a limb with anything approaching athletic guile, often talk a brutish game.  Now, in Scotland, the accountancy geeks are having their day.

The mere mention of the word ‘taxation’ has ears pricking up while the entire corporate accountancy system is now as much of the daily lexicon of football fans as the Laws of the Game.  I reckon the law geeks will have their day soon.

I’d never heard of the crime ‘uttering’ until yesterday, now it’s all I hear from my Edinburgh sources.  Uttering can broadly be defined as using a document you know to be forged.  Don’t worry, it has nothing to do with Our Hero, just an observation for you.

On other matters, still no word from the SFA on the scope of their investigation into Rangers, or the position of their president relating to this matter.  When respected mainstream journalists are making unchallenged assertions about improper registration of players, the SFA cannot choose to ignore these events.  We know they are aware of the allegations, we know the allegations relate to the period when the SFA president was involved with Rangers.  We just don’t know if the SFA are doing anything about them.  A statement confirming that no one is immune from investigation would be a start.

  1. I know it is the custom to be deceased before you can be canonised but could the Pope not make an exception for the Blessed Craig Whyte of Motherwell? Surely this man needs to be recognised for his great works against Satan and his hordes.

    Paul67,

I believe Phil referred to uttering earlier in the week.

It may,or indeed may not, refer to raising funds against a company newly-formed to so resemble in name an existing company that their credit references, and other such, will cross when checked.

I hope Paul67 is not telling his cronies of new articles in advance enabling them to claim podiums !!

I am loving the fact the Laptop Loyal are backing Murray, King and Sir Minty to take over rangers when it was these guys who started the ball rolling towards administration a couple of years back.

Looks like bye bye to Portsmouth.

Administrator Trevor Birch has admitted the club may not have enough money to see out the season.

Birch addressed fans for an hour at Fratton Park on Wednesday, a day when 33 members of staff were made redundant.

However, he says he was left with little choice but to make cuts as he tries to ensure the club’s remaining money lasts as long as possible.

“We are struggling to make the end of the season,” Birch told BBC Solent.

BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP, I missed Phil’s comment, however, for the record, I can absolutely confirm this has nothing to do with the Rangers takeover (seriously).

When will one of our fearless journalists ask Paul Murray, the latest “blue knight”, what he was actually doing for 4 years on the Rangers Board as a non-exec director, when his primary role was to ensure good corprate governance, and the EBTs continued to be used.

Is it to do with player contracts presented to the SFA by Rangers pre-MBB?

  14. Now we know how the SFL will treat a Newco rangers. Sporting Integrity? Pffftttt…

JIM BALLANTYNE believes Scottish Football would suffer financially if Rangers were to be wiped from the game’s landscape.

The Airdrie chairman reflected on the Glasgow giants entering administration in his matchday programme column on Saturday.

Ballantyne was shocked to see the Light Blues become the latest club to be run by administrators after dramatic events at the Court of Session in Edinburgh last Tuesday.

But the president of the SFL says the game would suffer if they were to suffer liquidation and a ‘new Rangers’ was not allowed into the top-flight.

“I have said on a number of occasions in these articles that I seriously feared for a number of profile clubs,” he wrote. “But I have to be honest and say that Rangers were not part of my thinking.

“It just goes to show that you never know what is round the corner.

“There has been widespread gloating from many non-Rangers fans but I have a simple message for them all – be careful what you wish for.

“There is little enough money coming into Scottish Football at any level but you can start stroking the nothings off if there were to be no Rangers.

“There may be some short-term benefits for a couple of clubs but, in the long-term, who will even be remotely interested in a league where Celtic win the title by 40 points?

“Who will even be remotely interested in a league where the chances of smaller clubs getting a draw against [one of] the Old Firm is halved overnight…where clubs only get two Old Firm visits instead of four.

“As for TV? Nope, not a chance in hell!”

The Tyneside Tims who made the Pilgrimage thoroughly enjoyed our night last night and look forward to Saturday. Lots of good movement and passing even if the finishing was a little frustrating. Many good performances albeit against limited opposition. Ki was a joy to watch and his range of passing was sublime.

As for events across the city, here’s hoping they’re given the Last Rites on and off the park as soon as possible. Preferably before March 25th.

  18. Does anyone know about an alleged meeting where the administrators told Sally and Dave that the ‘end game ‘was close – IE that they were struggling to find money to keep the club afloat until the end of the season? I am sure that i heard this on the radio!
