Surprised we got two in yesterday, as Manchester City under-grad, Jason Denayer, signed for a year-long loan last night. The 19-year-old has yet to play first team football so is likely to be considered as backup at Celtic, though reports are promising.
Not surprised that Legia Warsaw have lodged an appeal to Uefa to be re-instated into the Champions League, they have to try everything possible. It has not been confirmed what ground Legia have appealed on, however, at the weekend, Polish FA chief exec, Zbigniew Boniek, suggested an appeal would be made on two grounds:
That only one member of the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body was at the hearing to made the decision, and
That Legia were not given the chance to make a submission to the Body.
There are 10 members of the Disciplinary Body and rules state that decisions require the attendance of at least three, unless the case is “urgent”, when a decision can be taken by one member. To defend their process, Uefa need to insist that the circumstances were urgent, probably citing the Champions League play-off draw, which was due to take place two hours later.
While the Disciplinary Body allow submissions to be made prior to a hearing, Article 34 authorises the Body to undertake a hearing without submissions and “in the absence of one or all of the parties”.
In the unlikely event Legia won an appeal on procedural grounds, a subsequent hearing, perhaps with more Disciplinary Body members in attendance, would take place, and would inevitably reach the same conclusion.
Article 21, paragraph 2, of the Uefa Disciplinary Regulations state, “A match is declared forfeit if a player who has been suspended following a disciplinary decision participates in the match.” There is no ambiguity or lateral for the Disciplinary Body to exercise a different reprimand.
Legia’s appeals can carry on all the way to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but Celtic will not be involved in any future issues. NK Maribor represent a vastly, vastly, greater risk to their Champions League aspirations.

when exactly did celtic lose their fitness levels, attititude and professionalism
was it some time after seville or before then?
was it last season when we beat jambos 7-0
was it the season before when we beat barca
was it when kenny mcdowall went to rangers
when did celtic fans decide that the first team were unfit?
btw kenny miller would probably chase an empty crisp poke blowing around Celtic Park for hours on end but couldnae hit the barn door. The claims that sideways passing is because we are unfit is quite ridiculous. its more likely because the opposition put 10 men behind the ball
Guys, several posters have
been highlighting the fact our
league standard is poor and TV revenue is paltry compared to the EPL. Clearly this is true, so serious question –
Why do Celtic choose to accept the TV deal, even broker it?
What is the deal worth to the
Club?
How much revenue in ticket sales/ match day sales does the televised matches prohibit our club?
Would we as a club produce greater revenue if we introduced celtic tv channel showing games in a similar fashion to say sky sports and never entertained the their deal?

If you are not fit you will be shite at football .
Mungolian – I do, thanks! Just a typo, and I haven’t got around to correcting it was I was going to change it anyway.
Tam @1900
You’d pick the good player over the fit one?? Weirdo ;)
What most are saying is ‘same players only fitter’ not to make a choice between Alan Wells and Socrates.
Atajic and somebody else who’s name escapes me right now were also described as not fit for action.
Awe_Naw-around the time of that story, his wife at that time checked their bank account and was shocked to find how little was in it,compared to what he was earning. He would withdraw huge sums of money and give it away to homeless people. After this, his wife negiciated his movie fees in paintings and art objects,to try and preserve some of their money.HH

I would have a big problem with that, why should Celtic be penalised for abiding by the rules ?
The rules are clear and fair, incompetence is no excuse for compromising the rules, jeez if every team were as incompetent in administering the rules and demanded leniency can you imagine the mess the sport would be in, it’s corrupt enough without making excuses for incompetence too ffs
i like to do a wee bit of keep fit but I certainly dont claim to be an expert, but im not even sure that doing a heavy stint in the morning and then another heavy stint again in the afternoon and repeating that 5 days a week would lead to better pace or less recovery time and more injuries
In saying that, most celtic players are not my age either!!!

That may be the case. It was my own choice however to cancel my Sky subscription in protest at how Sky report on ourselves. The very same reasons that I don’t listen to the tripe on SSB & Clyde.
That’s me just off the phone to Zbyszek. Told him that I hope they will win their appeal.

Next question,
Is anyone happy with our clubs limited spend In the transfer window?
Where do we go from here? Will next season be a repeat? And the
Season after……..
Is anyone happy with giving away more money to buy champions league qualifier tickets?
Is everyone compliant and buying Maribor tickets?
Anyone interested in 2 tickets for The Killers at Bellahouston Park next Tuesday. £55 each.
12 August, never played a game at Celtic Park
“is it the beginning of the end? ”

By this time tomorrow they may be redundant.

Do you actually watch any football?
Have you sat in the North Stand in the depths of winter and watched Celtic over the past 4-5 years play turgid possession football for its own sake with the tempo of a comatose sloth??
Have you watched other football teams – not necessarily European elite – play at a higher tempo and wondered why can’t we do that?
Have you watched GAA players who ALSO WORK FULL TIME run about a larger playing surface at a pace which would have our pampered poppets blowin oot their erchies after 10 minutes??
Don’t attempt to argue Celtic players are fit enough to do themselves or US justice. The evidence is clear for all to see.
Deila made demands of them and they have flung the toys oot the pram.
A shower of spoilt brats who in a collective fit of hissy fittery are undermining their manager who was entitled to have expected better levels of fitness from them.
And it follows that a fit footballer has a better chance of remaining alert and less likely to make errors than an unfit one. Hee haw to do with how fast he can run. How long can he run is the issue.
mungolian Bhoy
i feel that it happened then myself, because i never knew we had a fitness problem until RD proclaimed we would be faster and fitter. In my opinion its an attempt to rewrite history.
Not on my watch though!
Only jokin each to their own
Cliftonville celt,
Was saying the same thing re J Mc.G’s training regime.
I don’t think he will have to sell it to the manager, as I’m sure they are on the same wave length.
For anyone to deny that the Celtic squad are unfit, is to deny the evidence of their own eyes.
Our problem will to be to shift Mulgrew, Stokes and anyone else who can’t or won ‘t shape up, out the door.
Commons will go through out of contract or a January sale.

Glorious Balance Sheet,
The fact that the teams in the EL are perhaps of a lower standard is it’s advantage to us, at this stage.
It gives the team, with hopefully new players, time to bed in, out with the pressure of the CL.
If they can handle that, then after Christmas, when the CL drop outs arrive, there will be plenty of tougher games to deal with.
I would be delighted if Legia’s appeal gets the result it deserves and we get automatic entry to the EL.
Canamaler
You would see it as us being penalised for abiding by the rules. I would see it as common sense being applied. As I said, I don’t believe it was deliberate. Now, the question becomes is it fair that they are kicked out for something that wasn’t deliberate that everyone can see had no effect on the outcome of the tie? For me, I’d be gutted if it was the other way around. We scream for common sense in football all the time, well here’s an opportunity to show some. Remember, I said ‘in theory’, meaning I don’t believe it will happen. I fully expect the decision to stand, and I’ll not complain if it does. There’s no doubt the letter of the law seems to say they have no case. I’m not talking about letter of the law though. I’m talking about (hypothetical) justice.

Yeah Robin Williams was my type of guy. Really sad but if it was suicide which I suspect it was then it was his choice and on his terms.

when you suffer from severe depression….choice and terms are simply unavailable to you…

Exactly. It’ll never change if nobody changes their attitude. Wouldn’t it be an honour for our great club to lead the way if such an opportunity was presented? Show the world what being ‘more than just a club’ really means.

There is a bit of doubt if that deal was really necessary in that the one struck before Rangers died had no exit clause for Sky.
However if Sky had just walked away and said sue us, clubs dependent on TV money and most were, could have gone under.
Enter Celtic to negotiate a new deal that saw enough TV money going to other clubs to stop them going under.
If only Celtic did not have to play other clubs they could be Masters of the Scottish Football Universe.
Those Legia performances were directed at the board. An emotional response to Neils departure. And, completely unprofessional.
Raberto67…… nurse!!
Raberto,
I don’t think there’s anything unfair about it.
I agree with mwd(?) yesterday when he said they probably should have forfeited the game for simply putting him on the bench.
desertbhoy
A bit of humility too much for you?
Raberto,
What is fair about being rewarded for rule breaking?
okay squire
so you believe that it happened around the time NL arrived?
and we started to flag at the end of matches, I wonder how we managed to win so many titles in that time.
I wonder if the coaching staff at any of the scottish minnow teams who cant afford to sign quality players, have realised that all they need to do is come into training in the afternoon and the title is there for the taking as long as he can FAR
Like i say, some would prefer fitness and brawn over quality and guile
BTW name the players who have flung the toys out the pram and let us all know how you know this. IMO its just another baseless claim. Since you have not backed up your claim with any facts i reckon your opinion is just that….
did these players do this vs Legia? do you have inside info to back this up?
Raberto..,
Common sense is sticking to the rules, anything else is stupid and will create problems for everyone in the future, sentimental claptrap portrayed as fairness, give it a rest.
This getting overturned would allow clubs to follow Legia and deliberately use banned players.
You and many can believe it was an “honest mistake” if you want, I’m treating it as cheating end off, as said before, they don’t appear to be acting too honestly now do they?
