Leigh, Kieran, marking your card

596

The most important result in international week is that we get all our (33) players back fit and ready for Saturday. That looks to be the case, although I hear Erik Sviatchenko had a close shave at Hampden. The job now is for Ronny Deila to assess the preparedness of his squad for the Hearts game. All may be fit, but it’ll be impossible for the likes of Tom Rogic to be at his best after coping with a 12,000 mile journey home and the necessary body clock adjustments.

Ronny will also have to counsel Kieran Tierney, who has had another big week. Teenagers often progress in waves, after with each crest there’s often a trough. The focus for Kieran right now has to be 100% Hearts.

I read Leigh Griffiths had an uneventful game against Denmark. Don’t bet against him shining on Saturday. He’s a player who flourishes with a point to prove.

I’ve not written much on Resolution 12 recently and I don’t see that changing for a few weeks (despite the trolls), but I have been very active on the subject. Anyone who thinks I’d skip over this is welcome to self-certify as a mindless troll below (I’m counting on at least one being sufficiently mindless…).

What I’d like to do is mark your card on this one. Completely erroneous claims have been made. Outrageous things have been written. There’s a Kangaroo Court underway which would do Salem proud. Let the loons run with their agenda of running Celtic down, but be circumspect. Your card’s been marked.

You are being played, all right, but not by Celtic.

THE RESOLUTE MR PASTRY on 30TH MARCH 2016 11:20 AM

AULDHEID@11:17 – Do you have, or, have you seen, a copy of said Ibrox draft?

I can’t speak for Auldheid,Mr Pastry but I have certainly seen not only the draft for the media which S.Regan intended putting out,but his asking permission to do so from RFC,their response to him telling him not to put it out (which he followed) and an invite to dinner for not only regan but the “heavily conflicted” ogilvie to meet with whyte and russell.

I could even tell you the where and when the dinner date was set for. 20th December 2011 in The Glengoyne Room at The Hotel Du Vin

All of this stuff came out around the time many documents appeared courtesy of Charlotte Fakes and should be available somewhere if you care to search.

We will have to be at our best on Saturday and we have plenty of players who have traveled long distances to play International football while the Hearts squad will be well rested. Ronny will have to asses who is both fit and up for the game tiredness could well have a part to play in who is selected for first team duty. H.H.

  3. I hope all you celtic folk are not being reeled in by this JJ guy , being a close friend of mcmurdo tells me all I want to know about this chappy . AULDHEED . Are there any other clubs fans that you know of who are supportive of res 12 , or are celtic fans the only ones wanting justice here .

On another point , I was very impressed by both young Kieran , and the boy McGinn last night , how did celtic miss this lad

    We’re a member club.

We should be objecting to both the ‘founded 1872’ nonsense, and the honours ‘won’ fantasy, displayed on the ‘Rangers’ page of the official website of the SPFL.

It makes Scottish football a farce.

Why wouldn’t we publicly object to that, and lobby other member clubs to do likewise?

Well done on forwarding your link to them, right enough.

Tell that to Ronny Deila and a few on here.

Interesting Paul. Those of us who can see beyond the end of our noses, ie the ones not being led by the nose, realise that winning the game is a long term strategy.

Deferred gratification to achieve the desired result always beats short term hedonism in such matters.

Yes, all well and good, but that makes the governing bodies your target, not Celtic, who are switched on to the feelings of the support to a point where they won;t even name them where they can avoid it far less get involved in Old Firm pandering.

  9. Good Afternoon.

Look forward to Res.12 updates in due course, and if I have done the club a disservice in my scepticism then I will happily hold my hands up and apologise! And then use those same hands to applaud the club!

Meanwhile, here are two new related pieces about fan engagement and the woeful governance of our game…

    ” GC,

So do we rewrite the song to say…..

    “Faithful through and through,

Even when we find you are complicit in the Sevco myth,

And refuse to act on the wishes of your supporters

To seek justice for the decades of cheating by Rangers

and the corrupt behaviour of the SFA”?

That’s not faithful, that’s just plain stupid.

It will benefit Celtic and the rest of football worldwide to see this Govan based joke correctly dealt with.

No real punishment can now befall Rangers as they don’t exist, but to attach the tag of “Filthy Stinking Cheats” to the last page of their history concluded in 2012 should be a fitting end to that chapter.

The 4yr olds now playing home games in Govan should be told “Hoy, that toilet roll of a strip you wear, with the meaningless joke stars on it, belonged to a bunch of cheats who went out of business. Find something else to wear….such as, a brass neck!” “

  11. See all you so called celtic supporters boring us with Res 12, and saying. they are not renewing or buying merchandise fine gies peace, let us true celtic supporters, through thick and thin support our club,

There will be a massive, vibrant crowd at Celtic Park on Saturday too, which belittles claims of the KevJungles of this blog that people are staying away primarily because of Res 12 and lack of a statement on a new club, relegating these issues below the weather, disillusionment with our style of football, and poor quality of opposition, as reasons for low attendances in January and February.

NOTE: I am not saying this is where these issues belong in the pecking order. But there will be a massive crowd on Saturday(for a lunchtime K/O) and that will be sufficient evidence that the support as a whole: 1) may not be fully aware of issues like Res 12 or 2) can see that supporting the team on the park does not make them in any way shape or form endorse any myth of continuation emanating from the new club or ignore any governance issue at the SFA.

  18. It is hard to stay patient for so bleedin’ long though:-)

Is there a wee oxymoron in there?

But I will endeavour to persevere.

Good to hear no injury worries after the international week.

And young Tierney played well on his debut.

It will be great to get back to football on Saturday.

  19. So who can be playing us that we don’t know about if not Celtic ( that’s going to shock or even surprise us)?

    Media a given

    SFA / Spl same

    Res 12 guys? No chance.

    Leaves????

  20. And talking of getting back to normal, if the remaining 20-odd folk that have still to send in their choice for week 5 of Last Man Standing could get aff the fence and finalise their decision that’d be mighty fine.

    Thank you in advance;-)

  21. That’s reassuring Paul. Any indication as to why the board cannot speak out about it just now? The support may or may not be getting played on this – I genuinely have no idea. However, the longer the club stay silent the greater the prospect of the fans being played. The resulting damage being done to the relationship between club and fans is significant.

There is a PR battle that we are losing and for once it is not a battle we are fighting with the MSM. The lack of media coverage is surprising given how quick they usually are to jump on any perceived breakdown between fans and board or fans and manager.

I suppose the only sure fire way of releasing the pressure slightly is by winning games – the operative word being “slightly”. A good performance and result on Saturday will restore some of the feel good factor but even an eternal optimist would have to admit that resolution 12 is not going away. Until it is resolved the fans will have to play the guessing game with obvious consequences.

Not only does it look like our guys off on international duty will be returning unscathed, at least one who left us kinda injured has returned fit and scored too.

  23. The reason crowds go up is the perception of competition in a meaningful game.

If the perception is that a game has lost its meaning because the means of achieving the result is highly questionable, then crowds will not rise.

So the answer to rising attendance is meaningful competition. Let’s see it provided and being seen to be provided.
