LENNY ADMITS INTEREST IN IRISH STALWART

CELTIC boss Neil Lennon has confirmed his interest in Middlesbrough’s versatile midfielder/defender Paddy McNair.

The 24-year-old Northern Ireland international star is expected to leave the Championship outfit this summer.

Newly-promoted Premier League club Sheffield United, who have also been linked with Hoops attacker Scott Sinclair, and several other English second-tier sides are also monitoring the adaptable performer.

Asked about McNair, Hoops boss Neil Lennon told the Scottish Sun: “There’s an interest there, yeah.”

It’s not the first time the player has been mentioned with a possible move to Parkhead. There was an interest in 2016 when he quit Manchester United, but he agreed to join former Old Trafford gaffer Davie Moyes at Sunderland.

However, it turned out to be a disastrous move for McNair as the Wearsiders lost their Premier League status and the Scots boss left the club in the summer.

He moved to the Riverside outfit last year and is now up for grabs around the £5million mark.
