LENNY CHASES WIDE BHOY

NEIL LENNON has identified the positions in his Celtic squad that need strengthening before the October 5 transfer deadline.

It has been well documented he is looking at a loan deal for Republic of Ireland international centre-back Shane Duffy and he urgently requires back-up to Greg Taylor in the No.3 slot with Boli Bolingoli’s Hoops career almost certainly over following his secret trip to high-risk Spain.

Lennon has already signed £4.5million goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas, from AEK Athens, £5million striker Albian Ajeti, from West Ham, and he added £3.25million midfielder David Turnbull, from Motherwell, on Thursday.

The Irishman is also in the hunt for a new winger with Mikey Johnston set to be sidelined for months after calf surgery, according to media reports.

The nine-in-a-row champions are light on the flanks after selling Scott Sinclair, to Preston, and Lewis Morgan, to Inter Miami, in the January transfer window.

The versatile Jonny Hayes, who could play at left-back and on the wing, quit the club after three years at the end of his contract in June to rejoin Aberdeen.

Ulrainian touchline ace Marian Shved has been loaned to Belgian outfit KV Mechelen while Australian international Daniel Arsani was returned to his parent club Manchester City before his recent switch to Dutch side Utrecht.

The Hoops scouting network will be in overdrive in the next 37 days.
