LENNY IN £8m SWISS LINK

CELTIC have joined the chase for £8million West Ham striker Albian Ajeti.

The frozen-out Swiss star arrived from Basel last summer, but has been unable to impress boss Davie Moyes.

Ajeti is looking to play first-team football and that is likely to see him leave the London outfit, with the nine-in-a-row champions quoted to be monitoring the situation, according to a report in Sky Sports News.

The 23-year-old frontman has made just nine substitute appearances during the relegation battle in this campaign and has yet to score a goal. However, he was a regular marksman in his homeland and has already been capped at full international level by Switzerland.

The Hoops are looking to land the forward on loan – like another former Basel attacker Mohamed Elyounoussi who agreed a second temporary switch from Southampton last month – but ex-Celtic defender Moyes could demand a big fee in a permanent move to cut the club’s losses.

Lennon is looking to strengthen his options up front and Odsonne Edouard and Patryk Klimala, January’s £3.5m arrival from Poland, getting game time during the French tour.

Vakoun Bayo missed the trip because of injury and Leigh Griffiths was left to train at Lennoxtown after returning overweight from the four-month lockdown.
