LENNY IN BITTON BID

NEIL LENNON has set his sights on a reunion with Nir Bitton.

The 30-year-old Israel international midfielder is a free agent after leaving Celtic last month following nine years at the club.

It was Lennon who brought Bitton to Glasgow from Israeli outfit FC Ashdod in August 2013 – and the Irishman is keen to take the versatile ace to Omonia Nicosia, according to a report in Sport 5.

GOAL-DEN MOMENT…Nir Bitton celebrates a rare strike as he seals Celtic’s 3-1 win over St Johnstone in Perth on Boxing Day.

The Northern Irishman, who departed Parkhead in February last year as the Hoops headed for their first trophyless campaign in 11 years, is looking to add to the Cypriot Cup he won just a couple of months after taking charge.

The 50-year-old gaffer has just signed another of his former Celtic players, Adam Matthews, on a two-year contract after the Welsh right-back, 30, left Charlton at the end of the season.

Bitton has already knocked back an offer from Maccabi Tel Aviv to return to his homeland, as CQN reported earlier this week, and has insisted he will not rush into a decision about his future.

Wages may be a problem for the Cyprus club, but Lennon is still hoping to persuade the skyscraper defensive middle of the park performer to join him at Omonia.
