LENNY IN DEFENDER LINK

GREG TAYLOR is on Neil Lennon’s wanted list as Kieran Tierney prepares to seal his £25million move to Arsenal before tonight’s 5pm transfer deadline.

The Rugby Park left-back is seen as a reinforcement to the Celtic defence and a move could be made before the Scotland window closes on Monday, September 2, according to a report in the Daily Record.

Lennon watched as Boli Bolingoli, bought from Rapid Vienna for £3million in the summer, was booked and toiled throughout the 1-1 draw against Cluj in Romania last night.

It was a nervy 90 minutes for the Belgian as the Hoops moved to within 90 minutes of the Champions League play-offs with the return leg against Dan Petrescu’s men due on Tuesday evening at Parkhead. Slavia Prague lie in wait for the winners.

Taylor was a regular under Steve Clarke when he was the Ayrshire side’s boss and the new Scotland international gaffer pulled the player into his nation’s squad where he made his debut in the 3-0 loss to Belgium in Brussels in June.

With Emilio Izaguirre also quitting the eight-in-a-row champions in the summer and Tierney poised to rubber-stamp a four-year contract with the London side, Lennon acknowledges he needs reinforcements in the wide left defensive position.

However, the Hoops could face a fight for 21-year-old Taylor with Nuremberg also interested.

Killie have knocked back two bids for the player so far, but the Germans have until August 31 to register new players.
